AI discovered cure for one type of blindness almost completely on its own.

Google is also building fully automated lab in England with simple robots and pipes running tests on drugs and AI agents designing them.

Is this actually over for life sciences and most science fields in general when it comes to employment outside of academia?

Fuck AI but medicine is probably the easiest shit to automate of any "science".
Soon all the fatties and retards and cripples will live to 150 and society can collapse at lightning speed.

>white americans aren’t fat
>white americans aren’t the main beneficiaries of advanced medicine (in america)
As if the same underlying mentality (advancements used for futile things), can’t be applied to a thousand other things white people love or take for granted.

reality is whatever china and the us are pouring trillions of dollars into, i don't understand why this is so difficult for you retard luddites to understand, you think complaining online about chatgpt not being able to tell how many days of the week have d's in them will change xi and trump's minds about ai?

Ok and vibe coding to this day requires human to adult the agent, but it still does 99% of the work for you. The science job market was already bad enough and now you will have 60 year old academics and top of the game researchers vibe researching.

I'm too lazy to look it up, but there was a recent study where researchers asked AI to diagnose patients based on their X-rays, and the AI "did a better job than human radiologists."
The plot twist: no actual fucking X-rays were shown to the AI, it just made shit up, the way it makes up academic citations and court cases that never existed.

Read what the study is about chud. This is not some small machine learning program detecting better protein shape, anomaly in data and finding solution, this is LLM chatbot doing every part of the scientific process aside from physically testing it. It got assigned a disease and then it made few hypothesise, searched the internet for literature, refined the hypothesise couple of times, wrote experiment protocol to test the cure and all of that within 2 hours. Imagine a robot doing everything scientist does, then having its arms and legs broken at the end and needing human assistant to perform the manual work. This is where we are at, and since then there have been few studies tryong to make the final robotics step.

Seems like a good way to kill us all eventually with gain of function research, but who am I to tell a strong independent AI researcher who dont need no (hu)man what to do

Nothing against the AI, medical AIs are mostly good, so long as you don’t open source them to allow people to vibe engineer viruses on the fly. Just pointing out that the already struggling bio and Chen majors get even more fucked.

>have a good idea for a math problem
>decide to ask chatgpt
>it actually starts producing interesting results and math checks out
>develop the idea further
>it even writes and runs python code to test it
>test results are interesting but not quite what I was aiming for
>continue building idea
>test results improving
>spend a week doing that
>something starts smelling funny with the results
>check the code it's producing
>mfw the part where it's implementing the math isn't even used in the test run
>mfw the results come from a function that generates random numbers
