Theories such as parallel worlds or simulation theory are a result of innate human need for spirituality. All these "atheist" scientists who believe them simply want to believe there's something after death and that we're not alone in the universe so they do mental gymnastics to justify their theories

All theories are mental gymnastics. We merely hope to predict the future by extrapolating past patterns.
The people who believe those theories might do so out of sentimentality.
Those theories might be true nonetheless.
