Not much to it really, normies were all inside so there were an abundance on there. You'd run into a lot on video chat (and a much smaller but still pretty consistent amount on the NSFW video chat), and on text chat you could get many womens' Discords or other socials in the course of a single day. Not a crazy success rate percentage of course considering the amount of skips you'd get, but far better than the near nonexistent rate on unpaid Omegle replacements that exist now. I've heard some guys do okay by purchasing a membership on places like Thundr or EmeraldChat to filter for girls, but I dislike the idea of giving them contact and financial information for an account, personally.

By 2023, the fun on Omegle was pretty much over anyway. They had banned almost all the 4chan/chud adjacent tags as well as a lot of NSFW ones, even the Discord tag got banned eventually IIRC due to grooming fears. It was also getting full of Indians and bots, and those are pretty much the only two demographics on Omegle clones (for text chat at least). Though it always happened to some extent, blacked/sissy/AGP shit also has lead to way more faggot gooners larping as girls and clogging up the works. Older anons might be able to expound more on the good times using Omegle, since I only started using it in the mid-2010s and I've heard the experience was even better before that in the first several years of the site's existence.

Forgot to mention also that I actually made some cool friends on tags relevant to my interests, even though I don't keep in contact with any today. On the new sites it's pretty impossible, since they have low activity to start with, and even hobbyist tags are nothing but braindead jeets and "got mom or sis pics?" porn addicts. In general it feels like it's become immensely harder to find anyone to really relate with on the internet in the past few years. The only options are Discord servers full of spastic kids and their unfunny TikTok shit, or söy-dripping Redditors and literal boomers if you're a little older go the hobby group route.
