What is the fun of a rivalry if you can’t even play the other team because they’re in another level

Imagine how powerful America would become if they unlocked promotion & relegation
>>
>>154328544
You can laugh about them not being there in the first place. Also, you can still meet them in the cup
>>
>>154328355
americans sports suck because they are sports built around advertising rather than the other way around. no one gives a fuck if you have pro/rel

it's odd you have been conditioned to believe you can work your way up through hard work in society but scoff at the idea of it in sports though
>>
>>154328772
we have objectively superior parity than your sports and we have multiple of them to watch
>>
Americans don't have relegation cause their worst teams are worth billions or have billions in forever debts and their country is huge not tiny like spain. meanwhile the bottom of the barrell in Spain could be bought by Tom Brady is 2-3 years worth of salary

you cannot even manage to stop a game clock when a ball goes out of bounds
your entire sport is infested with cultural thirdworldisms
VAR didn't even fix it, there was blatant handball during one of your big euro games which let spain win it over germany

its an objectively shit sport and its just a sunk cost to support it, that's why in europe rugby, basketball and handball are growing and the NFL plays more games every year there

people want better sport options

>The final of American college football is decided by a panel of communist judges because Americans refuse a promotion & relegation system
>>
>>154328110
I don't even care much about this whole debate. I just don't get why they call it Football when it makes no sense to do so and they have a much cooler name like Gridiron
>>
>>154336352
Because every country calls their most popular code of football football. It's not a uniquely american thing.
>>
I wish our country had pro/rel but unfortunately the government decided to legally protect their cartel

>>154336352
Originally football was a sport played not on horseback like polo
>>
>>154336352
because the sport evolved from a common ancestor that predates association football

I'm pretty sure medieval Football, the one where people from two different villages beat the shit out of each other trying to score a goal, predates any elitist fru fru version of Football.

Definitely not 99%. Much, much lower.
But yes, the arguably most egregiously incompetent clubs tend to be safe. In Germany, Hamburg and Schalke paid dearly for their retardation. Clubs with more bandwagoner power like Manchester United or Barcelona are/were not more competent than them in my opinion, but they are getting along fine in the end - they can fuck up financially and on the pitch as they please, get enough money shoved up their asses to be fine. And once they make a single correct decision, all will be forgiven and they will get even more
Meanwhile, there are many smaller clubs that work well with what they've been given, but they will never ever be able to catch up to the big clubs. Their star players will always leave them for big clubs regardless of how much they fuck up
>>
explain to me why the mid money teams dont dominate by avoiding the big money stars and building a team that can actually practice together all the time because they arent jetting around the world to play in various exibitions leagues and for national teams.
>>
>>154354155
Can you please give an example "mid-money team"? Just to make sure
Generally speaking ...

>avoiding the big money stars
Yeah, some clubs have much lower squad budgets and work more efficiently with players. But as soon as you have success, these same players will get offers from other (richer) clubs - they will usually either leave or demand a raise
>practice together all the time
Mid-money clubs are usually the most prone to getting plucked apart by "bigger" clubs, especially after a good season
>exhibition leagues
I don't know what you mean tbqh. Everyone plays in their national league, their national cup, and maybe the international competitions (if they have qualified via the league). There are no exhibition leagues. Some big clubs play in meaningless pre-season tournaments, is that what you mean? But it's basically part of season preparation camp anyway
>national teams
Even somewhat small (relevant professional) clubs have quite many national team players. Either they have players from medium or small nations, or they have youth national team players. Or both. Not quite as many as big clubs, but still enough for the squad to be depleted during national team breaks

In short, the biggest clubs make so much money that they can continue to pick raisins from smaller clubs. Smaller clubs can work as well as they please, they have to constantly adapt

americans be like "YESSSS WE LOST AGAIN THAT MEANS WE GET A DRAFT PICK IN A YEAR'S TIME"

>>
>>154354248
the NFL has a handful of perennial bottom feeders like the Jets and Browns because high draft picks aren't strong enough to turn them around
>>
truly the worst thread on this board right now
>>
>>154354248
As opposed to being a fan of a perennial shitter fighting relegation like Fulham or Nottingham. Teams go worst-to-first in their NFL divisions all the time.

Sports are the one thing that benefits from a socialist approach.
>>
>>154354248
Their entire system is baffling. The problem with football is that the competition has been supremely fucked, but American leagues are perverted from the start already
>Here, play 71477 meaninless and comparatively unstructured games that are the base for all stats. But remember: none of this matters, you just need to be among the better half to qualify for the actual tournament of value, where refs will also act differently btw. Finishing last is actually good as well btw, get your draft picks ready for next time. Hope your team doesn't do nothing all season, haha. They don't have to, after all
>>
>>154354341
don't think you can fathom anything x
>>
>>154354235
that pretty much answers my question. the big money teams just have too much money and not enough restrictictions.
by mid money teams i mean the ones who have a lot of money to spend but not infinity money like the top teams.
meant to exhibitions and other leagues. idea is that if they didnt jump from team to team all year and waste times with friendlys they could practice together all year and dominate because all the big stars are too busy chasing every possible check to practice stuff like offside traps and setplays to negate the talent disadvantage.

Surprised by the replies ITT. It's not a secret that football lacks a way to balance the money inequality. I mean, Real Madrid has been a shithuge team for decades, and the only thing they have in favor is money. Manchester United has money hacks and a bad season for them is the best season Wycombe can aspire to.

Leicester had a couple of good seasons, dismantled their team and now they're shit. This Bodo team that everyone was sucking dick to in the CL will be shit the next season, because they don't really have a huge market like other countries. The CL is always won by the same fucking teams, and the surprise this season is another multibillionaire team like Patetico that has been competing with Barca and Real for many years.

Here, Brazilian teams started destroying the copalib now that argentinean teams are "poor" in comparison. And the money gap is widening everywhere, big teams are getting richer way faster than poor teams locally, and rich leagues are getting richer way faster than poor leagues.

Okay, there are fluke wins, but it's obvious that money teams are getting more and more consistent, and fluke wins are just fluke wins, and the team that peformed it goes back to poverty.

Unfortunately billions of pounds of on average below par decisions gets you a better team than a few hundred million of on average above par decisions.

Your idea is basically Brighton and Brentford's model, it doesn't work at the very top level because spastics like Man United and Chelsea are allowed to laugh off £100m flops and sign another 3.
>>
>>154354392
Forest literally won the league the year after being promoted
>>
>>154355981
This is all true but has nothing to do with promotion and relegation. Americans see a lack of parity at the top level of football caused by retarded money rules and blame it on pro/rel for some bizarre reason.
>>
>>154356212
OP is also talking about outspending your own incompetence.

Also what the fuck is wrong with the captcha, it took me more than a month to finally get just one verification and now this shit is throwing me 4 of the tedious ones, and I didn't delete my cookies or anything. This just makes me not want to post anymore.
>>
>>154328243
lol the whole point of the superleague was to outspend incompetency
>>
>>154356212
Pro/rel creates an imbalance of revenues and cash reserves. It lets an aristocratic few stay at the top with pure inertia and an always bigger war chest compared to the small fry that just got promoted in and will likely go back down in the next few years. Soon enough you’ll have new class unto themselves of perennial yo-yos.

You can touch the ball with your head, butt, knee, torso, neck, calves, thighs, ankles, penis, hips, etc. The goalie can touch it with his hands, as can players when throwing the ball in. So by your logic, it should be called:

footheadbuttkneetorsoneckcalvesthighsanklespenishipandsometimeshandball.
