Jonny Clayton hopes to reinforce his position at the summit of the BetMGM Premier League standings as the darting roadshow arrives in Liverpool on Thursday.
Night Twelve of the tournament takes place at the Liverpool Arena, with Clayton pitted against home favourite Stephen Bunting as he looks to extend his five-point lead at the top of the table.
The Welsh number one has had a staggering campaign, claiming four nightly wins from 11 weeks, including back-to-back triumphs in Brighton and then Rotterdam last week.
The 2021 Premier League champion has won two of his three matches against Bunting in this year’s Premier League, and despite being all but certain to qualify for Finals Night in May, has not satiated his hunger for nightly wins just yet.
Coverage starts at 7:00pm UK time on Sky Sports Action.

I don’t understand how they can rattle in 180s and then can’t hit a double to save their life.

And so the Darting Dystopia rather surprisingly returns as Luke Littler wins his fourth night overall - and his first since Berlin last month - in yet another city he despises with an evening that saw him get better as the night progressed. Finishing was the key factor to the Nuke's victory this Thursday with 18/30 - 60% overall - supporting a night average of approximately 101. He even had time to fuck around in his semi-final, averaging sub-90 at points, yet still managed a match average of 102 after changing darts 4 legs in.
The story of the evening though was Michael van Gerwen, who somehow averaged 107.54, hit 9 180s, had a finishing percentage of 71.4% and had 3 11 darters in that semi-final with Littler, and STILL lost. Having averaged a pathetic 82 at the weekend, this remarkable swing in performance just shows where he is: everywhere and nowhere simultaneously.
Speaking of pathetic, despite keeping top spot Jonny Clayton was trounced 6-1 in the final by the World #1, and any repeat of that dire doubling performance in the final at any point in the next four weeks will see him miss out on the League Phase bonus.
Two Players Championships at the start of next week before the PL returns on Thursday from Aberdeen.
