I know that we here at /nfl/ pride ourselves as being the Chicago Bears genny, but we will also be taking an active rooting interest in the success of the Las Vegas Raiders. /nfl/ is now a pro-Raidies board.

>Same method the Packers used to develop Rodgers and Love
Sick of people bringing this up as if
1. Jordan Love doesn't peak as a 7th seed WC QB and will never be close to the player Rodgers was
2. Rodgers didn't have back to back MVP seasons and that the pick could've been used to push for an immediate difference maker
SBs don't come easily, there's a time and a place to draft for the future and it's not when your QB is coming off an MVP season and you were 1 win away from winning a superbowl

The Jets have two good tackles, a good #1 receiver, and Kenyon Sadiq. It's pretty obvious with their two 1st round picks next year that they're going to fire Glenn and bring in an offensive coach and draft their QB in 2027. Things are looking up for the Jest unless they blow it again

simpson is a much better player than jordan love was on draft day. probably also has a higher celiing than stafford's predecessor since he's more athletic and more willing to take risks than goff. but i just can't get behind the process when you have an aging qb, a coach that's previously hinted at retirement, a roster built to contend here and now and an intriguing yet experienced developmental backup like stetson bennett who already looked impressive in preseason. it is a head-scratching pick that i wouldn't have made, but i firmly believe the rams did get their franchise qb of the future. it's just that using such a valuable resource on future when you're all-in is pretty lame

Not overly enthused about my chargies pic
fine with the position selection - edge was a need and edge is always a value in the first
but mesidoor being 25 concerns me. i don't care about second contract worries. I worry about how much of his production is due to him being older than other collegiate players

>>154354979
A year ago we thought Stafford wouldn't even start the season. QB was a need, and the jump between Ty Simpson and Carson Beck was big enough. My only critique is not trading back to get a 4th or something. But maybe the Jets would have swiped him at 16

This move clearly went over Sean Mcvay's head who will probably leave coaching for a while when Stafford retires. I understand drafting a QB but Ty Simpson isn't the guy I would have drafted over a piece that helps you win now. Especially since McVay won't be there to oversee him long term.

(he was actually alright, good to talk ball with) but he was fucking obsessed with R Mason Thomas, he would not shut the fuck up I swear I heard the name 58 times before I left. And he was seething that the Bears picked Thienemen over him. So is he right? Is this dude a hidden steal? I've never even heard of him before

If Ty Simpson is properly coached up and achieves his full potential he tops out as a career backup. With that kind of talent on the board how could the Rams pass him up?

Kevin Clark often says that not every team is actually trying to win a Super Bowl, and that's how I feel about the Rams pick
Ty Simpson is not a pick designed to maximize LA's odds of winning, it's a pick designed to avoid bottoming out. A pick like Bain immediately makes the team better and makes a big impact in 2026, however it means that if Stafford is hurt, the Rams will be without a QB and will spiral. But picking Simpson means that the Rams are forgoing an impact player to try and raise the floor if Stafford gets hurt. It reminds me of when the Falcons signed Kirk Cousins and then drafted Penix

The only argument I can think of is that the Rams are betting on themselves with the pick and saying they are winning the SB this season with the roster as-is. Because of that they will have the 32nd pick AND a starting QB that is going to walk off into the sunset with a Lombardi in hand. It’s a pick that says they don’t have a shot at any of next year’s QBs, so they at least have to have someone who could start and theoretically play for a 2nd contract.

They have some big holes on defense, which is why they lost in the NFCC. They had a chance to take an actual playmaker difference maker and put themselves I'm a position to be even more of a favorite to win it this season, which is their last run iwthn Stafford.

I said this earlier ITT, but there is a difference between trying to win a Super Bowl and trying to avoid being the worst team in the League. Drafting literally anyone else taken afterwards would be a move to win the Super Bowl, drafting Simpson is a move to not bottom out. What good is having a successor to Stafford if you don't get a ring this year?

Also never draft a QB with a goofy name to be your starting QB it never pans out. I think the last good QB with a goofy name was Rothlisburger and even that had kind of a ring to it. Like cool sounding names can often be a bust but goofy sounding names are ALWAYS a bust with QB's.

>What good is a successor
The same could be said about most of the bpa at 13. All the Tackles left were developmental. Sadiq would have to sit behind a full TE room. They got one of the best guard duos in the league, Ioane would sit. They just spent premium on CB. LB would have been a reach, same with C. Safety room is complete. D-Line is set, they can barely fit their 3rd round pick from last year at edge (Josaiah Stward). They got a RB duo in Kyren and Corum.
The only thing left is WR. Is the jump from Makai Lemon to Germie Bernard or Denzel Boston as big as the jump between Ty Simpson and Carson Beck?

The bears will be an interesting team. I agree that their roster looks good but they have two statistical realities working against them: they won a lot of close, crazy games and has an extremely high amount of turnovers compared to their defensive performance otherwise.

That's true, but the fact is that if Caleb is completing at 65% they will be competing to be the best offense in the league, hell they might be THE best. Their defense was bottom 10 in everything outside of turnovers, if they can be top 15 in yards and points then the falloff in turnovers might not hurt them that badly. Giving up 20-22 ppg will make a lot less close games than the 25 they gave up last season. And they seem to be putting the work in to get the defense there.
You're right it'll really interesting to see come September.

the picks KC gave up for the 6th has the same total draft value as the 6th itself.
It was a fairly even trade, and when Delane turns out to be a blue chip stud and #1 CB in the league while at least 2 of the 3 picks for the Browns fail it 'll look even better for KC.

Well that wasn’t me. I made those rankings. Other anon was just pointing out the obvious. Mauigoa is potentially a right tackle and definitely at least an excellent guard. Fano is a guard and maybe good. Mauigoa is better in every metric and the Downes took Fano. Fucking retards.
>>
>>154356362
>wouldve been there at 9
you have zero idea you mouthbreathing retard. the intel KC had to force them to jump to 6 is more reliable than any retarded shitiction you made from your armchair based off where CBs fall in previous years
despite convential wisdom 3 players were LBs/RB in the top 10 this year. The premiere positions were filled with question marks and less valuable positions had blue chip players that teams obviously valued over the question marks.

>self-defense
people who need guns for self-defense put themselves in positions where they need to defend themselves and it stems from them being terrible people. Maybe like .0001% of all self defense shootings is a white woman using a purse pistol to strike down their would be inner city assailant.

I’m only engaging because the thread’s almost over (and you didn’t realize the other anon was trolling), but the Obama study showed merely making you having a firearm known successfully fends off aggressors between 1-2 million times per year

Imo Murry is just not that competitive. He like the things being a "star" player gets him but not actually loves football. In theory though it will be a good test, Vikings can be a bit of a lolcow but they should be a hell of a lot better which the 5'6" wonder boy under center.

>Estimates suggest that roughly 75% to 80% of NFL players own guns, a significantly higher percentage than the general American public. Players frequently cite personal protection (especially after high-profile incidents like Sean Taylor's death), home security, and hunting as primary reasons for ownership.
>Based on USA Today's NFL player arrests database (since 2000), weapon-related charges are a significant subset of the roughly 47 annual arrests in the NFL, which includes incidents like carrying unlicensed guns or illegal possession, with multiple incidents occurring yearly. While NFL players are arrested at a lower rate than the general population, they are disproportionately arrested for weapons-related crimes
this is a /sp/, and /nfl/ topic and its a bit fucked up you'd alienate good teams like the Chiefs from being able to discuss their players and their situations.

Nah. Murray has been a blue chip superstar his whole life but then he got drafted and banished to backwater Arizona which rarely fields a good team.
He can play and has legit skills and I guarantee he will go all out now that he is somewhere he wants to be. Literally his only downside is that he's a Hobbit.

Kevin O'Connell is a low key hardass. He will call him out and keep him in check. My precog force powers tell me Kyler Murray is going to work out in Minnesota because he can actually play QB. It's not like somebody like Anthony Richardson who can't actually play QB and isn't a quarterback and should have played tight end instead. You can tell when somebody simply isn't an NFL level QB. Guys like Penix and Murray are actual quarterbacks. Natural athlete guys like Anthony Richardson are not.
Then you have guys like #9 who a franchise would be legitimately insane to build their franchise around because the guy could break a femur anytime rolling out of bed even if he ever actually learns how to play quarterback at the NFL level.

this is infact more believable because the guy had no clue who Diana Russini was, and probably just assumed it was Vrabels designated foid
