I'm prepared to catch shit for this, but it's true, and I will never forget the pain.

>Didn't play any games for a whole year
Y-y-y-yeah, that's crazy, imagine that haha

Being railroaded by a script for hours outside of combat isn't playing the game I was promised, and having wifey blast every encounter with her spells isn't playing the game I was promised.
So no, I didn't play a game that entire year.

I have been dodging playing with an old friend of mine because I remember him basically tailoring the game for his wife, and when I heard she wanted to play a character with tons of upfront damage to nuke shit I just had the vision of this exact thing happening. Luckily he's a mega gay world builder who just needs to put the final piece on his magnus opus before it is ready to see play, and has been at this stage for well over 5 years.

>Disgusting flying bird race with a ranged weapon.

Your DM made the right call DESU.

This is me every time I try to play stealth characters. It doesn't matter what the system is or how many points I put into the stealth skill. As soon as I actually have to roll dice for it, my character inevitably becomes a clown with honking party-horn shoes that lost a fight with a tangle of flashing Christmas lights, and every enemy in a mile radius suddenly gets a Skyrim objective marker to my exact location.

Me too. I've made a stealth character in BitD. First roll of the game, my character puts on clown shoes and fails to slit a totally unaware guy's throat while he's prone and believes I'm his backup.
Although that one happened because my DM doesn't believe in Controlled checks.

GM thought i would go ditzy seducer when i chose School of Enchantment for my fire genasi wizardess. I instead went full CIA counterintelligence spook and magically "convinced" several important NPCs to drop support for the BBEGs faction in favor of supporting out fledgling resistance.

Smoking is a disgusting habit. Reincarnate-spell into non-sulfur race immediately.

>flying bird race
Reflavored human, actually, because he didn't want to deal with player flight. I bet if his wife had asked for flight he'd let her, though.

These are all essentially the same. Hell, D is basically Blade if he was white/asian (can’t actually tell what race D is supposed to be, default assumption is Japanese because anime but the setting is vaguely European which implies he is too) & lived after the bombs dropped

This is a bit of cheating because it's a GMPC, but:
>Two of my friends wanted to play Dark Heresy, but I didn't have a third player and both of them only had experience with DnD 5e before, so I knew they would struggle with the more brutal combat of DH.
>What I Made was a GMPC Krieger who I told them up front would never talk, never converse with NPCs and would only do exactly what they told him to do, save for making his own decisions in combat. Effectively he's just there to be their bodyguard and I even planned to kill him off once they were used to the system.
>What They Saw was a fun little mascot for the party. Both of them insist on involving him as much as possible, using him as a kind of Watson so they can Sherlock their often wrong explanations of mysteries. He was the frequent use for jokes and funny moments, despite literally just standing there.
>What I Played was... well, since he was only there for combat, I only invested his experience points into combat skills/talents, and fear resistance. As the pre-made campaign I was using had Daemons as the final boss of chapters a lot, what kept happening is a Daemon would appear, the other two would suffer a nasty sanity/fear effect and be taken out of commission for several rounds and the Krieger effectively soloed the combat. Even when they managed to recover, he was still star of the show and got the final hit on every single boss enemy.
In a way, Franz was both a successful and failed experiment.

D&D 2024 Thief Rogue. Background was an assassin that used bladed folding fans and weaponized hair needles as weapons.

Thief Rogue can use magic items as a bonus action. I got a *lot* of wands flavored as magic fans. Trouble is with only 3 attunement slots, I couldn't use most of them at any given time.

The campaign was in Eberron and I ended up getting a siege weapon (Force Siege Staff) that took 3 actions to fire. One to load, one to aim, and one to fire. Since I can use magic items as a bonus action, I could do 2 of these myself. I got a humanoid familiar from a one level dip in warlock to do the third so I could fire the thing once per turn. The weapon did 8d10 damage, and was compatible with Sneak Attack for a bunch of extra d6s. Infinite uses. Needless to say, I did not have as much opportunity to use my wands much after I got it.

So is it Anime rave music, Eurobeat rave music, or just THAT rave music?

Thief rogue in 2024 is one of ky favorable subclasses, even going beyond 2nd amendment builds where you just fire off 15 magic missiles a turn
