Share PC/NPC character concepts you like to re-use, and can always reliably fall back on.

Oracle/Prophet/Fortune Teller whichever fits the theme the most, who is actually evil and lies to the party in hopes of decieving them (actually has future telling powers, just lies to them about the content to fuck them over)

Working class locksmith. Business hasn't been good, so his wife and kids have pushed him to pick up odd-job contract work to pay the rent.
Some DMs will pick up on the wife bit and we go full boomer comic/sitcom dad. Other times we play him up more as a "dungeon trap plumber" who treats the average delve like he's here to fix a toilet. You can play him as either a professional who's seen it all, and will complain that he doesn't have the right screwdriver to disarm this type of exploding rune pressure plate, or as a tag-along who's good at what he does but is in way over his head for the danger pay.

Wizard/Sorceror type who is confident in his abilities but resents that he has to travel with a party for safety because he considers martial characters to be dumb brutes and divine characters to be superstitious weirdos.
Half-orc or tiefling who hates his own mixed ancestry and has to resist the call to evil constantly.
Character who is racist against a species represented in the party. I think of it as a way to fight against metagaming since it doesn't make sense if everyone automatically trusts and likes each other in a Medieval setting.

I’ve fallen in love with playing Dunks, as in Sir Duncan the Tall from “Knight of the Seven Kingdoms.” You get all the benefits of being a strength-focused martial and get to play a genuine idiot whose foolishness is overshadowed by their innate goodness. The character arc is likewise built-in as the Dunk starts as a nobody and becomes legendary simply through doing what adventurers are meant to do; save the world and help those in need.
Bonus points if you get an Egg, but that’s usually fulfilled by another PC.

the fat extroverted innkeeper whos happy to talk to you about anything and everything.
he used to travel the world and have adventures of his own until he met the one and settled down, which is why hes gotten fat.
there is usually a trinket, treasure or trophy from back in the day such as a magic item or the stuffed head of some ferocious beast hanging above the bar or fireplace.

Rookie cop/paladin/wizard who's passionate about justice, but due to a wealthy and happy upbringing is out of touch about the realities of the world. Sometimes in the party to bring a different party memeber to justice/keep an eye on them.

That's a good one, plot hook and/or PC-wise.

It sucks that one seems to be an endangered concept.

The pragmatic and courageous nobleman knight who always going to be found at the front and always the first to jump into the thick of it against foes be it man or beast as he is a man that the soldiers in the region look up to for guidance, he got a bigger than life personality, always happy to do the right thing and tries to do his best no matter the cost even if it has cost him some more permanent injuries like losing a eye
Yet behind his noble appearance lies a shadow of trauma, fear and nightmares from his past experiences throughout the years that he bottles up and can't express his feelings out of fear he be labeled a coward and all he truly wants to do is run off with that gypsy elf girl and leave his noble life behind but can't as there is a war going on

>Wise cleric that likes to deck themselves out in the heaviest armor while also healing more often than not.
>Drunken Brawler fighter, any and all shapes and sizes will do.
>Wizard that has a healthy interest in Necromancy, but doesn't do any out of respect for the natural world.

>Having NPCs to fall-back to
>Not having placeholder characters that do their job and have the standard "three sentence description" to establish them
Not only this is a bot-spam thread, but it's also never-game and definitely never-GM thread

>Barbarian/Fighter that takes levels in other classes
This is my favorite way to play from level 1, provided the DM is cool. It's a lot of fun to play a meathead who slowly becomes more invested in other ways of life and learns new skills and abilities outside of being a direct meat shield. I particularly like pairing with rogues for the more acrobatic/ambush style of play with battle axes.
>Combat Robot
Very fun and lots of options for how to rp, but ultimately always enjoyable as a slowly-going-mad AI with weird mechanical augmentations
>Scumbag Bard
Currently playing a jester one and he's a blast, I've been careful about not making too many jokes but instead look for the exact right times to do something really funny and I've gotten a few. Also very effective character to play a criminal, especially if you get access to bombs.
