United Systems is obviously the way to go.
>United Systems
Low chance of survival, but if you make it through the meat grinder, you can live a happy life.
>Vostak Dynamics
Worst choice by far. You fight for them, and they still make you shoulder the cost of repairs and upgrades. Fail and you're lobotomized. Fight alongside PTSD androids. Even their retirement package includes depression and trauma.
>Triton Empire
Higher chance of surviving in combat offset by higher chance of death in boot camp, or by rogue AI. Eternal youth reward is not retirement, and is tethered to eternal service. Actual retirement package is lacking in details (sus).

Yeah, if you can immediately see that they're AI then they're not good.
>>
>>
>>
>>97922186
As long as AI art keeps being bad people will complain about it.
Nobody are against good art. When people point out that something is "AI art" then they are by extension saying it is bad in an LLM image generation way. Bad art made by an LLM is bad in a different way than bad art made by a human.
AI art is fine when we cannot tell it is made by an AI.
>>
>>
>>
AI can now generate images more beautiful than anything most humans could make. Sam Altman just explained why nobody cares.
“The value that people put on that effectively rounds to zero.”
Not less valuable. Zero.
A flawlessly generated AI image, technically superior to almost anything a human could produce, valued at nothing.
When visual perfection becomes instantly available to everyone, it stops being scarce. And when it stops being scarce, it stops being valuable. The magic is lost.
The scarcity that gave art its worth was never the beauty. It was the human who made it. The soul put into it.
We don’t consume art. We consume the person behind it. The struggle. The intention. The human consciousness that decided this particular thing should exist.
AI can replicate the output. It cannot replicate the origin. The soul.
Altman points out that if an artist uses AI as a tool but still has something they were trying to express, the work may or may not retain value. Maybe.
Regardless. The human intention is the product. The image is just how it arrives.
Remove the person and the soul is lost.
This is what nobody building AI art tools fully absorbed. They optimized for the output and assumed the output was what people valued. It wasn’t. It was never the pixels. It was always the person.
AI isn’t going to replace human artists. It’s going to do something more disorienting. It’s going to make technical skill irrelevant and raise the bar for detecting true soul. Artistic IQ is going to drop into the abyss.
Presence. Intention. Proof that a human consciousness cared enough to make a particular thing.
Abundance makes perfection free. But meaning can’t be automated. Because meaning requires a conscious narrative to say something.
The artists who survive won’t be the most technically gifted. They’ll be the most undeniably human. AI gave the world infinite art and proved that what we actually want is irreplaceable.

>AI can now generate images more beautiful than anything most humans could make.
Will believe it when I see it. The AI's data is art generated by humans. When it starts using its own generated material as data the quality starts to drop.
Without new human art to use as data AI art will first stagnate, then drop in quality. The is no advancement in LLMs that can prevent this. It is a structural problem.
People realize this and that is why they put no value on AI art. You can always see where the AI stole its style or concept from. Nothing is original. It is just an imitation.

Vostok sounds like easiest to survive in, and the one that'll give the least difficult work.
Having to pay for my own mech repairs is annoying, but it shouldn't be too difficult to calculate the pay deductions ahead of time. Plus if I'm getting sent across the galaxy on a regular basis, presumably most if not all of my living expenses will be covered during missions.
If the job is mainly crushing unions then it sounds like I'll mostly just be there to babysit the androids, and terminate any of them that try to go AWOL. Shitty work environment yeah, but usually in these types of jobs I can at least bond with my co-workers over our shared misery/hatred of our bosses.
I already have depression so I'm not worried about that in retirement. Maybe I could make a support group with the other former pilots and actually do some good after leaving the company?

>AI can now generate images more beautiful than anything most humans could make.
I agree with this statement because most humans do not practice art in the slightest. However, AI does not produce images more beautiful than what most *trained* humans can make. And it isn't fair to compare a *trained* AI to an *untrained* human. An untrained human could still make better art than an untrained AI.
Regardless, there are uses for AI images - placeholders in large projects like video games to get the gist of what goes somewhere before you put in something better. It only needs to be better than a programmer's MS Paint squiggles to have a use. I personally use AI in my roll20 rpgs when I want an npc with an oddly specific appearance and can't find a suitable image. The quality isn't the best, but it gets my point across to players better than having a semi-related but better-looking image. On the topic of CYOAs, I'd even accept a few AI images here and there if you have a difficult point you want to get across and there's no remotely suitable alternatives or if you deliberately want a 3 armed / six fingered eldritch horror that looks AI-uncanny.
That said, I think the images in a CYOA are not that important, aside from a few. The first images of the scene or a host-type character that guides you through the choices is extremely important. Images of characters like companions are important. Image of guy-lifting-a-car to show how superstrength works... not very important. They break up the text so it isn't a wall of text, but you could just as easy show an image of a kitty sunbathing instead super-strong-man above a strength option and I likely wouldn't notice.
>>
>>
>>97922829
>an npc with an oddly specific appearance and can't find a suitable image
Personally I find AI art bad for this. AI is good at making derivative art, trying to convince it to make an image that I can't compare to anything outside of my mind is very difficult. I mean, I could still probably do it with a lot of img2img and inpainting, and maybe I need to look into natural language models more, but that's just my experience. Want a cute blonde girl in a specific artist's style? AI will do it fine. Want that demon girl with highly specific skin patterns? Haha good luck.

AI art is just a close enough match or an acceptable pass for what is needed.
AI art rolls out on a conveyor belt with no personal touch. Human art is hand crafted for then individual need.
It is crazy that some people think human artists will die out. No, human made art will become a priviledge for the wealthy or fortunate.
>>
>>97922904
I feel like you're commenting more on the notion of pretentious artists that lack ability but have pedigree. And sure, people like that exist, but to continue this line of dialogue would divulge into semantics of "training", how to compare equivalent training levels between human and machine, and the philosophical notion of "is a sufficiently bad artist still an artist" - I spent a few minutes trying to recall a philosophy class I took years ago, but couldn't remember the name of that line of thought, proving how ill-suited I am to speak on the subject at length.
>>97922913
It depends on how 'highly specific' you want. In a world where Harry Potter didn't exist, I could still get an AI to generate a wizard with a lightning bolt scar on their head. But that's a simple shape. No way could I get it to produce more complex patterns unless I don't care what the patterns are. My use cases are more like "pirate that is missing a hand and replaced it with a grappling hook". I'd iterate a couple wordings to the AI, but it'd be perfectly capable (eventually) of making a guy with a pirate hat and a hookshot for an arm. At the end of the day, it's just splicing the learned "pirate" with the learned "grappling hook", but if I can't find an image of a grappling hook pirate anywhere for the life of me, having AI as an option is certainly a help.

Possibly, although both use generic templates by a third party (Imaginos). There are also more male characters than I would expect in a BigAl/TroyX cyoa.
(Also, this is really more of a /trash cyoa, what with all the sex and nudity.)

>So what is the established way to post a new CYOA.
>Do you try to upload it to specific archives before posting?

>Help a newb out.
Post it (at least) here and on Reddit. Our in-house rule is that it's okay for the author to post a new cyoa for three threads in a row, and after that let it float/sink on its own.
(Make sure that you announce it as new/OC, so that it doesn't get overlooked.
AllsyncAnon uploads them from here/Reddit to the Allsync.
If there are a lot of pages, some people like to make an ImageChest (or Imgur, if you're old school) gallery of it. That's optional, though.
>>
>>97923425
I once created an account to post Cyrus's SHINE on makeyourchoice, and I was automatically prevented from doing so (even though i could post comments in other threads), there's some kind of unwritten rule about what accounts can make new threads on reddit. So posting it on reddit can possibly be difficult.

Yeah same happened to me when I made my first OC and wanted to post it. I didn't really feel like trying to collect good boy points until I fulfill some unknown requirement they didn't bother to explain, so I never went back.
>>
>>97923425
>Do you try to upload it to specific archives before posting?
you could get it on imgchest as a way to have all your cyoas saved in one place with full resolution.
>Do you just share it on sites like here and reddit?
yep, but only here (if nsfw you could also post on the trash thread) and on reddit (there are 3 subreddits, an interactive one, a nsfw one and the sfw one)
when posting here just make sure to spam "OC OC OC OC" and such on the first image so it's easier to find

Thx.
I think I have a good idea about how it works now. So to summarize: I should treat sharing it on reddit as low priority (Maybe set up an account in advance to avoid hidden new account filters), keep it non-lewd, drop it with OC in caps, not get discouraged by odd hostility and keep in check with the progress for the next few days (Or for 3 threads).
>>
>>97923773
>keep it non-lewd
Lewd CYOAs are fine, you just need to post them in the right places. If it's just sorta horny but doesn't have a bunch of naked images or anything, posting it here is fine. But if it's NSFW, there's is a NSFW CYOA thread in trash: >>>/trash/82394225
>posting on reddit is a low priority
How high you should prioritize this is mostly just how much you want to use reddit. If you want your internet points or want to read and reply to builds made on reddit, you'd naturally prioritize it more.

Retarded take, US has ZERO chances of survival seeing their massive death rate and succes gives you nothing but shit manual labor if you survive 20 years of Russian roulette. Such prospects, much wow.
>>97922605
Another utterly retarded take, thrive? They mass murder their own dudes in TRAINING! Oh, and mass murder their own citizens, too, if you were thinking of retiring, and apparently treat them as utter garbage seeing people revolt even when faced with nazi military openly threatening to shoot them if they even peep. And the immortality option? Trash too, it's INSTEAD of retirement, so you can still die in combat, comes with spy camera 24/7 and is probably only given to brainless system bootlickers like in any fasci system, these only ever reward obedient unthinking drones or family of the boss...
>>97920773
Vostok is obviously the ONLY way to go, even if you're a massive fail text says you MIGHT be lobotomized (as opposed to sure death in other 2), you get to be mech pilot not cannon fodder infantry (Vostok being the only faction sane enough to give disposable role to robots) increasing chances of survival massively, and if you do well, you're rich, famous, and the government will do anything to keep you alive for morale reasons. Oh, and retirement is life in luxury, not backbreaking labor or tombstone competition offers. You need to have negative IQ to pick anything else...

>They're women pretending to be anime? That just worse anime girls
Aren't all anime girls ultimately women who pretend to be anime? Like anime girls are voiced by voice actresses, so there is no REAL anime girls. All are fake; the difference is that VTubers don't have a script while voice actresses do. Which makes the Vtubers more real than the voice actresses.
>>
>>
>>97925271
Fiction is a choice, the suggestion to a fantasy you must ultimately complete yourself.
But to answer your point, no. Vtubers are supposed to have the same personalities as the flesh women who voice them, where anime girls are purely fictional entities. The anime girl IS the idea of the anime girl, not the pixels or the mp4 or whatever

What are some other derangement syndromes except for vtubers, trump, and AI art? I want to get into all of them. AI art is easy enough since I already like high-effort examples. I think trump will be harder than vtubers though since I have literally nothing in common with him except the nationality of his wife. Vtubers are just fucking boring but maybe I'll like one of them if I look long enough. Please give me some easier options to do in the meantime.

No, there's clearly more to it than that. It's a group mentality fueled hate of something. The three examples I can think of also go firmly into irrationality. American lefties hated trump so much they all voted based on orange man bad. Twice. They literally don't care about policies other than that. It's insane. Vtuber derangement syndrome is similarly weird. It doesn't matter to the people who hate vtubers that it's the same fucking shit as streaming except with a moving avatar, they created a whole mental complex about vtubers being horrible. And the same goes about AI art. Sure, most of it is low quality slop, but that doesn't mean it's an infectious disease or heretic religion like some people are acting.

I mean, if you don't watch that kind of content then it's not strange you don't know them. I remember them like I remember any other streamer/youtuber. A long time ago they were a novelty, I remeber watching subtitled clips and streams just to know what they were about, by now it's pretty much just another way to be a content creator. Even the ones that already did normal content started getting virtual avatars. It could help you get some closure to know why there is suddenly so much art of a certain character at least, but that's about the only thing you could get out of it otherwise.

Anyone interested in pooling resources, and doing a co-op build for Cosmos Companions? We humans need to work together to cement our position in the Galactic Federation, and if we pool the talents of our servants, we can go big. Which of the worlds scare you the most?
Personally, Val Zarin worries me the most. Heat, cold, predatory animals? There are time honored methods for dealing with them.
But a world where even the ground cover plants are trying to kill you, and lethal plagues are constantly clawing at any opening? There's a limit to what you can do about them, and no amount of coordinated firepower can take down a plague.
So I expect 90% casualties on Val Zarin in the first week.

I'm a big fan of stealth, but given that the locals hunt in fog, what sort of stealth systems would you even need on New Dusk? Do they hunt by heat signature? Scent? Sound?
>>
>>97926854
Given they're specifically lovecraftian horrors, I assume they're psychic predators and can perceive prey through telepathy. I'm not sure conventional firepower is enough. Of all the planets, New Dusk is likely the biggest lottery of them all. Who do you think is the most dangerous companion? Everyone always mentions the psychics, but I think the Nameless is the deadliest. There's no chance the imperial palace doesn't have telepathic security, so he clearly has some means of circumventing both it and technological means. Pairing that with a sufficiently deadly weapon, and caution, and he's an easy top-10 candidate. It's not glamorous but stealth will win over force almost every time, in my opinion.

On New Dusk, with a light armor build, I like options such as the vibrating blades, that would allow you to escape from being cornered. Probably one of the mobility options, too.
With heavy armor, that becomes harder to pull off. So thermal vision (to see the horrors in the mist) strikes me as a must-have. If you can't get away, then you've got to make every shot count, right?

I agree, so One Shot worries me. A good sniper can kill you before you even know you're under attack.

However, now that I think about it, New Dusk is the one world where the hackers and techie builds have a shot. The colony was founded by some eccentric genius and his clones, right? Once they came under attack, they probably rigged up some hardcore defenses before the locals got 'em. If someone could reactivate those defenses, that would be a game changer.

100% is noob bait, not only you lose the access to the most powerful demons (which are in many ways least problematic and if you're not a mouthbreather and give them token concession you will do fine with 75%) but the text outright implies that if you piss them off, the more powerful ones will end you, 100% or not. Also, you lose on their smarts and initiative. Sure, you can go for weak one kept at 100% but Angel seems like far better option, her stealth field and advice is basically mandatory if you don't want to be facefucked by the 'other' side...
>>
>>97925142
Eh, Niech is nice but I'd imagine constantly picking fights will attract attention and if normal Angels are also 8s, they will beat her to a pulp easily. Fallen Angel sounds like better Niech, really, stealth, advice, sex, and she is smart enough to pick her fights instead of just beating up random punk and strong enough to actually win these that matter...
>>
>>
>>
>>97927272
You can tell ehr to stop and she will though. Her whole thing is obeying every command. Meanwhile the fallen angel is too high on the totem pole to be put under your countrol.
Although my real pick would be Hylla.

Of all cyoas I've played, this may be the worst for a self-insert.
It's really boring to call each case according to your own sense of justice. They're quite balanced, so it was just - well you can organize laws slightly this way, or slightly that way, it arose no emotions in me.
And the points metagame at the end is so forgiving that even if you want to game the system, you can do so trivially (probably a good thing), so that's not interesting either.
Instead I made a human supremacist build for it, and judged each case so as to give maximal benefit to humans and maximal harm to non-humans, and played that way it was fun.
>>
>>97929423
I thought it was fun to self insert, because I like moral deliberation
>They're quite balanced
In the openings yes, but the specific things each side asks for usually reveals more about them

Scientists like Leonardo Da Vinci and Benjamin Franklin saw themselves as magicians. They’d freak people out for the fun of it. Why the fuck not?
The former made a fake dragon out of an exotic lizard (rumour has it he’d also trap priests in closets by inflating balloons on them), and the latter would hide oil in his cane to do odd things with water. His feat of “conquering lightning” was seen as a wizardly one.
The magician pushes that sensation of magic. Science will always have an air of “wow how did you do that” at its edges.

You’d rather be ruled by inbred royals? Listen, democracy has its limits (Socrates saw as much) once the masses become retarded, but, eventually the crown will become irreparably retarded as well. You cannot guarantee a wise monarch. The current king of the UK worships Islam for fucks sake. Traitor scum.
>>
>>
>>97930272
The great benefit of a monarchy is not that it guarantees good men, but that it guarantees stability and slow change
A monarch is inherently in it for the long haul, where a politician just fucks about for 4-10 years before disappearing with no accountability
The british are subhuman. Their politicians are similar but worse. Comparing them to an unknown ideal system only obfuscates
If a good society has good morals and sets a good politician into power it might last 10 years. If they set a king it could last 100 years or more
A politician is given a reputation by the days gossip, no matter how inaccurate it may be
A king is held to the image set by his father, and sets one for his son
If america was in the hands of a king he would have never sold it to bankers. It was in the hands of a series of short sighted and naccisistic politicians and they did do that exact thing
>inbred royals
Incest isn't that bad. As long as you don't go wild with it, it's basically fine.
You need to throw a revolution every once in a while regardless. Democracy only winds up obfuscating and tricking people. It's a system that refuses accountability for its mistakes

The way you get those mental effects from lady Iustitia even if you don't dance with her even once always seemed excessive to me. The only option is to kill her, or subject her to the (probably worse) mask exile.
Even the other supernatural women can be handled by picking your dances right,

Anon, if you are ITT, I'm 100% chill with you making a companion DLC for Icescape. I originally envisioned it as a solitary adventure but many anons would doubtless pick up friends along the way, and there's fertile soil for companions. I'd most likely see a DLC as a side-canon, maybe true, maybe not, depending on the anon and their adventure, and would add a link to it to the imgchest.

Hahaha, I will admit, I'd considered having a companion section, but as it was an homage to Caves CYOA and the others like it, format and all, I thought it would be best to leave it implicit. When I do update Icescape it will be to increase the font size and try not to butcher the image spread in the process.
I do have a couple of ideas for simple waifu pickers floating around for when I finish my current project, though. One of those does involve a fire elemental woman, so I suppose our tastes in that regard are similar.

is it you that complains about the Night Ride DLC? I guess I assume anyone discussing that CYOA is likely to be you. If so this post is a funny one, not that there's anything wrong with it. looking forward STRONGLY to your next OC big dog...

>is it you that complains about the Night Ride DLC?
That wasn't me, no. I do agree with anon that it detracts a great deal from the surreal atmosphere of the CYOA, but my line of thinking is that a DLC is, at the end of the day, ultimately optional. Any CYOA will be rendered different with a DLC, and one advantage of that is that it can be looked at through a fresh perspective. Taking the Night Ride DLC, having a hitchhiker you aren't sure you can trust along for the ride completely reframes the entire premise. In that sense, I was able to replay my favourite CYOA again, and I appreciate that.
>I guess I assume anyone discussing that CYOA is likely to be you. If so this post is a funny one, not that there's anything wrong with it.
I don't talk about it too much. I do love it though. If I'm not posting OC or answering questions, I am just any other anon. You're right. It would be funny if I was condemning DLC for another author and endorsing it for my own stuff, hahaha.
>looking forward STRONGLY to your next OC big dog...
It's going to be a long one. My estimate is about 8 dense pages. I won't spoil anything but it's going to be purely combat and survival focused, with specific, detailed opposition and a stat system.

>I won't spoil anything
Night Rider said.
>The gist of it is that you have six versatile, conceptual powers on offer, each of which has three aspects that fit together to form the power's greater whole.
>You could remove one aspect to strengthen the remaining aspects, specialize on one aspect, swap an aspect with another power, and so on. There'll be a fair amount of straight upgrades to power, control, efficiency, etc. with no strings attached but those aren't as flashy. Changing the aesthetic, fuel source, mutating yourself for a boost are all possible. A few retarded ones are planned, such as 'All-or-nothing' where you burn your entire energy reserve for every effect that you do, for overwhelming strength and zero efficiency, and the inverse, 'Hundredfold' where you can't use any more than 1/100th of your energy for each effect for sublime control and almost no strength
>There are six factions planned, seven if counting independents/unaligned. It isn't an army builder CYOA so I won't get into too much detail on their troop trees but each will get three expositions in a broad overview detailing their common, elite, and supreme units. There will be four characters per faction, eight independent, each with their own stats (or equivalent, for those that don't share your power system), fighting-style, and lore. You'll be able to select them as Allies, Rivals, or Nemesii, which will change their ambitions and, in the latter case, empower them somehow. If not chosen, their default is Neutral. This is all in relation to (You).
>>
>>
>>97931211
>The factions all hate each other to some degree and are in a world-spanning war for dominance. This conflict is in a stalemate that will eventually cause the world to end if it doesn't get broken in favour of one. Two of the six arguably want to end the world in different ways, and two of the remaining four will render it unrecognizable. You'll be able to join one of the six factions, which gives you some rewards and unique powers, or start your own faction in the hard route, or stay independent. The war itself is very long-term and some regions are isolated from it entirely, which will be more comfy.
>You'll need to be strong or sneaky, that is. The factions aren't going to know you've arrived unless you've taken a specific drawback or have entangled with the fate of many characters. They're for the most part leaders, champions, and influential members of their various factions, and most of the independents have a deep-seated reason they haven't joined a faction. For a couple of them it's that they don't agree with any or want to bring the war to an end.
>Most of the possible companions have some variety of immortality or are on a quest for longevity. Their war has been waging for centuries and, if one side doesn't gain an advantage, will in perpetuity. Something similar to that will be possible, for a couple of the core powers not even needing tweaking.
>dragons are mostly part of the reactionary druid faction but there are some wild ones.
Do you want me to continue?

I'm glad I am not alone, and I hope you enjoy the CYOA when it releases.
>>97931211
That is another project. Between my work and uni, and the sheer scope of the WIP, I realized I wouldn't be able to finish it before we were well into 2027, or even 2028. It is on standby for now, but I will be finishing and releasing it eventually, once things slow down.
That, and I also want to get a handle on stat systems in CYOAs, hone my graphic design skills in general, and get all of the sufferfagging, as some anons would call it, out of my system so it doesn't pollute the Isekai/faction CYOA with too much grimdark. I also feel a burning need to give the /cyoag/ more OC.
>>97931221
That won't be necessary. I am seriously honoured that you remembered my posts, especially on such short notice. Thank you, it means a lot. There is highly likely to be some overlap between settings, or at least with one of the factions' units eventually, but the current project isn't a war CYOA. Well, arguably. (You) at least won't have an army helping you.
>>97931212
My thoughts and hopes on it are similar, but I wouldn't be offended or anything by another of those anime girl picker. That's back to our roots, for better or worse.

what I'm saying is that he gives too many points, so your advice basically amounts to playing on easy mode. In that case I would prefer to have a choice to play with a different point spread. I think the complaints about a choice of difficulty are kind of stupid; you can just ignore it if you want and go with whatever seems or is named as "normal"

>>97931520
I know, I know. But I go where my whims take me. I've had an idea for a war CYOA that can be done solo (against pre-made rulers of different provinces) or multiplayer (Where players can make rulers of different provinces). My original setting for this game idea was a campaign world I was building, but the fractal options slayed out into infinity and I needed a way to trim the bonsai tree. So I've returned to a world I enjoyed a few years back, through memory and shadow. [Also anons were wishing for something in this world, and I could feel the monkeys paw in my heart curl.]
>>
>>97931573

I wished for something inspired by FromSoftware games with original lore, not a franchise cyoa of one of their games.

>try addressing what I'm saying!
Do you really want to start this shit, don't you?
How the fuck does he give you "too many points" in Dragonfall? Where I remind you, you are an elder dragon (a legendary creature of immense power) and have only 300 ur embers, whereas a true dragon has 100 and those in Ixacotak have 200 because the elder dragon who spawned them took fertility. Let's also consider that you would need to spend those 300 urembers in companions and magic spells.
>getting deja vu here
Not surprised you are getting a déjà vu at being called a retard, it must happen pretty often.
>>
>>97931598
Listen, if I'm stealing basically all of my images from Elden ring's wiki, then I may as well just accept the setting.
>>97931599
Sections Planned:
Rules/Stats Explanations, Origin, Class, equipment/spells, companions/summons, Region explanations/options, Conquest rewards, Elden Runes/Mending Runes assembly. I'm putting together a 7 was rock paper sizzlers game and seeing if I can make a 'boss fight' mechanic that's actually fun.
>>
>>97931700
My entire being is engineered to upset you. there was never another way. All I can say is that I almost always have more points than I strictly need in Dragonfall in particular. It seems like a skill issue. are you taking every powerful option and no drawbacks?
>>
>>
>>97931700
Magic is for pussies, also. I don't know that I have ever publicly expressed this. do you really need to be a gargantuan monster with magic breath, acid blood, and assorted bullshit AND ALSO be versed in spellcraft? I get it if you're a human but dragons do not need magic. I recognize that goes against a lot of /tg/ norms, stand by it though

Here's a (mostly flavor/fluff) build for Beri's recent Pokemon cyoa ( https://imgchest.com/p/o24adlbj34l ).
Gym Leader w/Executive Authority (6 points)
The Haunted Forest is an unusual gym, in that the main building appears long abandoned. Most challengers think they've been pranked when they arrive and are greeted only by silence and shadows.
They are missing the point. The Haunted Forest is a gym specializing in mind games. With staff and students specializing heavily on Ghost, Psychic, and Dark type Pokemon, they like to play with their challengers. Make your challenge, and they will find you . . . when they're ready
Most matches end up being held late at night, in specially cleared areas of the neighboring forest. Others are held in dark alleys, abandoned warehouses . . .anywhere that might unsettle the challenger.
All the staff and students conduct their official business and matches under "creepy" pseudonyms, hiding behind masks and hoods to hide their identity. Challengers have no way of knowing if their friendly tour guide, or jolly innkeeper, is who they say they are . . .or secretly a member of the gym staff, sizing them up for the most disturbing match possible.
Does that mean leading a challenger on a merry chase through the woods, until they're tired and stressed out? Jumping them as they try to take a shortcut back to their room at the Pokemon Center? Or being the sinister face at the window, that they chase into the dark?
A strong challenger might be allowed to go straight to a duel with the gym leader, while the junior trainers lure any friends or wellwishers off. A weaker one might have to run a gauntlet of junior trainers across a span of several nights, to give them time to toughen up (and avoid wasting the gym leader's time).
Current junior trainers include (among others) "the Phantom", who favors Psychic type Pokemon. And relative newcomer Shriek, a female (?) trainer trying to adapt the gym's strategies to Zubat and Scyther

Yeah, dragons don't need magic to win a battle. They're already flying tanks with breath weapons.
However magic isn't just for combat, though. What if (you) want to raise a sunken continent (a la Atlantis)? How about a flying castle? Build an interdimensional gateway? Or if (you) want to make a new species?
Raw destructive power isn't everything.
>>
>>
>>97932344
Obviously I get the utility, and I know it squares with this ancient, powerful being. I just generally don't enjoy monsters with more "abstract" magic; I prefer it to be related to them, like a dragon's breath. Let's say there was some "world-weaver" extra-dimensional spider-bug. I would be OK with that forming dimensional gateways. I'm not really even against dragons with magic and such, but I do think that in Dragonfall you can easily ignore that section as a point sink
>>
>>
>>97933477
Ao you want a more mythic approach? That's fine, too.
Magic doesn't need to be.chamt and elaborate circles etched in chalk. It could be blasting a hole to another realm with your breath weapon, or tearing a rift open open with your claws. Flying up into the sky, and yanking the sun backwards to reverse time. Burying a rival, and having a new race spring up out of the dirt.
You know, the stuff polytheistic gods did all the time in real world myths.
>>
>>
>>
>>97934655
Great point and cool examples! those I would be fine with and probably incorporate into my build. They're not meaningfully different than the Dragonfall Rare Features. I realize that this whole thing is kind of an exercise in autism but I like what I like
