I'm working on Salamanders force right now and will have some Custodes for allies. The Custodes are going to be all nmm. Haven't done nmm as part of a scheme before though, just on characters. Will it look jarring if I am lazy and do true metallics for the Salamanders? Especially for pauldron trim, doing nmm on a ton of tacticals / etc seems daunting.

>made great books such as the Night Lords trilogy
See, I disagree with this hard. Soul Hunter was kino, but Blood Reaver was slop. Void Stalker's best part is a billion Ultras raping the Night Lords.
>>
New to the Heresy and wanting to start a Blackshield force. Any do's and dont's when it comes to schemes/livery? Can Blackshields be a color scheme that is not mainly black without seeming too out of place?

Blackshields color scheme can be literally anything, up to and including each marine having their own individual heraldry. Go nuts.
>>
>>97935756
You could paint hello kitty marine black shields as far as the lore in concerned.

Thanks, Anons. I was thinking of just using my custom chapter colors, as they showed up end of Heresy/Scouring-era in the fluff I wrote for them. I had an idea that doing so would be alright, but thought I would check here considering that Heresy seems to be more narrative driven and similar to historical wargaming in practice. Now to get a bunch of Tacticals and Inductii painted up.

What a coincidence that I’m trying to push through my UM army. Nothing fancy, base colors and a douche of Streaking Grime. I got the off craiglist for cheap and they are probably chinese recasts.

Need to base and transfer these dreads and then they’re done. I’m really unhappy with my tidemarks, I need to learn how to properly oil and enamel wash instead of ole reliable nuln.

It’s a bit frustrating putting in a lot of work and feeling like you’ve ruined your models

This guys way too dark, tried to filter with nuln through airbrush, ended up with a sudden clog and a tight spray pattern that made him way dark and purple in an area so I abandoned the process.

Is it possible to magnetise the weapons on the plastic deredeo? Don't really want to get one if it's gonna be stuck with a single load out.

HH bros, I need some advice. How the fuck do I build a SoH collection? They seem like they have a pretty scatter-shot collection of rules, and their main gimmick seems kind of weird. What do I add to my list after Reavers and Justaerins for a fluffy SoH force?

Maybe if you left off the wires from the plasma guns? I wouldn’t want to try it
>>
>>97936105
they were really well versed in the full gamut of astartes warfare but had a predilection for up the center spearhead shit, you can run effectively whatever you like, and a sweeping gamut of stuff is very emblematic for them. all sorts of toys levelled at once, but keep in mind the preference for seriously driving assaults. there should be at least a contingent of your force pretty given over to getting stuck the fuck in and brutalizing whatever they can.
>>
>>97936056
SoH's main gimmick is abusing the fact their legion trait turns volley fire and gun them down into extra shooting phases. Anything with Implacable Advance or weapons with the assault trait are particularly nasty with SoH.
>>
>>97936121
That sucks, was hoping the plastic version of the deredeo would be easier to magnetise. Definitely don't wanna try it with the resin one, those cables snap when you look at them funny.
>>
>>97936156
>>97936006
yes but it doesn't need it

the plastic pipes are pretty strong and it has plenty grip in the hinge socket
>>
>>97936006
Yes but you don't even need to. The deredeo has magnet slots in the shoulder and on the backpack. But the way they're designed, they fit snug enough to not need magnets. It's nice on the backpack though to ensure it stays snug.

>>
>>97936536
Read the black book lore.
>>
>>97936536
there are a number of ways to go. dreadnoughts and treaded vehicles are big favorites of theirs though, and they wield flyers very adeptly too, centering things around a big ole tank would be a cool accent
you might consider a medusan immortal horde as an alternate flavor outright
all manner of infantry otherwise are well at home with them, they held terminator plate in high regard by my reading atop bulk power armour teams. a very well rounded legion in their capacities but their various formations would compete with one another in the field for the primarch's favor. they're quite brutal in underlying character. dishonor was castigated severely and failure rarely tolerated.

leave ferrus at home unless you're doing his immediate formation when he went down on istvaan v as a theme, bro died
>>
>>97936039
The BurgUR-despoiler, Fatulan's first Starch-Reaver.
>>
When I do a black shields army I can't use any legion specific units. But can I for example have a unit of pretor command squad cataphract terminators with powerfists and storm shields using models for the imperial fists?
>>
>>97936567
Original AL anon. He’s good but I don’t think overpowered. Personally I have fun with him.
>>
>>97937196
You can take the oath Panoply of Old (Imperial Fists) for Vigil Storm Shields on your Cataphractii Command squad, which would also leave it possible to get Solarite fists on some of your models. But a full squad with the latter would require Huscarls.
>>
>>97937238
Oh that is realy cool. Thank you for the help. I don't want to run a IF, but with X unit. I am going , which I hope isn't breaking the lore, a multi legion force. With line troopers and "bodyguard" squads being from same chapter, but "specialists" being created from mixed squads. I imagine them being part of a terran born honor guard of some place, that suddenly get thrown in to a war they don't want or even understand.
>>

>>
>>97937606
There's overpriced 90 man international HH events where the tickets sell out, and TO's I know are talking about adding HH to their tournament days. HH is bigger than it has ever been.
>>
>>97937606
Macca wants 4+ fnp army wide on iron hands.

>>
Going to expand both my SA and the two allies contingents I swap out. NL Contingent has deepstriking terminators, SW has a blob of slayers, complimenting tanks and infantry sections. Thinking jump bumping the Atramentar up to 20, adding a couple of mix use dreads to the Wolves

>>
>>97936375
Are those printed in FDM? They look pretty good if so

>>97937266
I mean. A) this sounds like shattered legions fits your vibe more? But also B) luckily, this edition for panoply of old, you actually pick a legion to steal equipment from on a per detachment basis, so you could have say your primary detachment use world eaters stuff for chain axes and caedre weapons while your apex detachment steals from night lords for headsmans axes and chain glaives, and your tactical support detachment is iron hands for grav shredders

is there a reason why gorgon terminators look like indomitus armour?

I think i've seen a conversion of the new iron hands 40k character into a 30k gorgon armour praetor?
>>
>>97938278
Lore reason or FW reason?
>lore
Ferrus invented a new type.
>FW
It's fucking cool yo.
>>
>>97938309
so is gorgon pattern derived from indomitus then?
>>
You know, why is Automata not just a subtype? So you could have Walker (Automata) for the bigger ones like domitars and thanatars and infantry (automata) for the smaller ones like castellax and scyllax. Came up in a convo about how it's silly that dreads count as their starting wounds for combat res purposes but not the much bigger thanatar, but making that rule apply yo all Automata would get very silly for castellax and vorax and mean you never outnumber them
>>
>>97938017
I always wanted to homebrew a chapter of JUST dreads. Like, maybe a few apothecarys/techmarines and some admin roles filled by humans, but every other brother interned into the box for eternity, maybe after some massive fuck up on their recruitment world or some shit went down.
>>
>>97938513
Thanatars shouldn't be in melee unlike other automata.
>>
>>97938511
Other way way around iirc.
Indominus became a stop gap terminator armor iirc, because it was easier to build then tartaros and cata. But inferior to both.
>>
>>97938511
Yes. Gorgon armor is an evolution of Indomitus that is supposed to have better performance but required bonding the wearer to the armor permanently.
>>
>>97938278
Ferrus was trying to improve terminator armour, gorgon terminator armour was like a first prototype iteration.
>>
>>97938278
it is indomitus armour, the STC was discovered around the same time tartaros was, but Ferrus was probably autistic about the shields being worse than cataphractii so wanted to design an overclocked energy shield for indomitus. The result was that the reactor was too big to be housed safely so it leaks radiation into the suit and slowly kills the user. The 'blind' thing is probably just the energy shield flaring because it barely functions without the giant reactor of cata suits, but IH bottoms will say it's intentional (like his metal hands he got by retardedly sticking his arms into a C'Tan shard and his strategy on Istvaan V lmao)
>>
>>97938789
Why are you making stuff up when the black books do have a description of what the armour did?
>>
>>97938801
not like Ferrus is around to say any different
>>
>>97938278
Ferrus didn't like any of the termie armours in service so he was testing around with improving them. Gorgons are the improved indomitus, like the rest of the prototypes he never managed to iron out the problems.
>>
How come Forge World/GW never gave us Legion Chariots? I was looking through my big black HH splat books, and found this pic of a blood angels one (I swear there was an Emperors Children one as well in there somewhere but couldnt find it). I know the space yiffs got a chariot but its 40k trash (isnt it?) and looks gay as fuck. Going by the design of it, it looks like its just the "attack bike" equivalent of a jetbike, just with a platform on the back as opposed to a side car.
>>
>>97938857
Same reason they never gave us bullock pattern jetbikes I will NEVER forgive Bligh for pulling those retarded dildo jetbikes out of his ass instead, may he forever rot in his grave. A callous disregard of existing lore and artwork, if not genuine spite.
>>
>>97938857
Because they already did, they are speeders, chariots and speeds would fill the exact same role so there is not point in both other then flavor visuals.
>>
>>97938874

irl? because the alternative was making it look like Cata or Tartaros for HH, and potentially a recognition that existing IH players might like to use plastics as a base for conversion at a point in time when I think all the other terminators were still resin; IH had Immortals as well and there's a kind of pressure on IH players to include a lot of bionics make a bionics kit that fits the various tacticals GW I double dog dare you, so being able to occasionally convert is a help

in-universe? it kind of looks similar, but it's not that close either to the Indo terminators that went before or the kits that exist now; it has a few commonalities like the thigh reinforcement and the overall silhouette, but the pauldrons are layered in a way that Indo never has been (except for Naismith's 410610 prototype, which are also a different shape), the helmet is more like a sort of mk5 power armour, the tassets and groin guard are flexible, it lacks the heavy power cabling below the arms that Indo has and the back vents are completely different to Indo, Cata or Tartaros
