Why do so many freaks want a 'moral narrative' to RPGs and stories in general
I'm sick of all the social conditioning we're subjected to.

Moral narratives aren't exactly a new or rare thing in fiction of any kind. Sometimes people just want good guys to win, anon. It's not really more complicated than that. Besides, none of the posts in your pic seems to be demanding anything.

While OP is once again a faggot, the thread's obviously /tg/-related. The topic's about RPGs in general, and whether or not OP's "observation" is true and whether it's a problem if it is true is a perfectly valid, on-topic thing to discuss here. Also, for future reference: when you see OP be a faggot, you can just either call him one, laugh at him or ignore him instead of rushing in to try to outdo him.

Meh, the corp commie BS that they try to say is capitalism to push their marxist dream has been a thing forever now. Though before hand it was the classic two sides were at war for reason. Here a powerful weapon to kill them all. Doesn't matter if you working for a government, corpo, etc. However, once the brownshirts try to push that this wouldn't happen under socialism communism or whatever the fags are calling their marxist fascism that they would be purge by the very people they bring into power after they get everything under control. I stop caring and drop that gay shit. Especially since half the time it's just some offical fanfic that some DEI hire get to write about cause their own IP is so trash that no one will give a second though and they think if they change the name and make the character gay, black, a woman, etc. People won't care and lap it up cause they like the old show, game, book, etc.

Nobody in your screenshot is demanding a moral narrative. If anything it seems to be the opposite, they are describing how settings they appear to be fans of have a feeling of amorality even admist any idealism the settings display. Can you read? Do you understand English? When and in what country did you learn it?
>>

It's all about moral control and empathy, they don't believe in fantasy or that someone can fit themselves into the shoes of someone who isn't like them.
All fantasy is secretly the desires of the author writ large, all characters are their players to some extent, to write of or depict a thing is to bring it into existence.
They can't imagine any good person deciding to play a bad person, because they themselves are bad people who spend all their time playing at being good people.
They have to roleplay as soft, UwU virtuebois to cover for the fact they're dogshit bastards that'd be first to "Cut the tall trees" if the call went out.
Meanwhile the rest of us, who aren't basically neo-soccermoms and can separate ourselves from the settings or characters we create can do as we please without feeling it reflects on us as human beings.

Dude, if you don't have a free market, it's not Capitalism. You have Corporatism where corpos and the government control everything. In Capitalism I can make a shop and sell my wares without much of a issue. Corporatism is when the government and corpos work together to control the market via red tape and BS laws to basically make it so no one outside of those they allow to run their businesses outside the black market or via bribes or mercy.
>>
>>97937216
Capitalism CANNOT exist alongside a free market.
And free market into which capitalism is introduced immediately becomes compromised as the merchants buy the government.
There is no version of capitalism that sustains a free market. Attempting to claim corporatism is anything other than a natural development of capitalism is both intellectually and morally dishonest.
>>
>>97937226
>>97937216
Honestly, capitalism has failed to produce free markets at a higher rate than even systems like monarchy. If the richest guy is just going to own the state anyway, why not simply give the state the power to take everything from the richest guy, like ye olde monarch?
>>
>>97937226
>"LOL, I'm going to say that's not real communism but put Capitalism to own this guy
>I explain what you saying isn't Capitalism but Corporatism saying all you need is the free market.
>but the FREE MARKET can't cause we need the government in control to turn everything into our Corporatism till we can push for communism.
I swear got to love you guys are so easy to prove you have no idea what you're talking about and they're kid's shows that explain everything so simple a toddler who still getting potty training can get it. I mean you can easily keep a free market by simply limit the government power over the market and prevent them agency to gate keep and control things. However, the government loves to make that classic lie that they need to control EVERYTHING cause if they don't someone else will. The free market makes the people in control. If they don't like someone product, or the company pushing said product, they don't buy it. Now if you prevent others from making said product so only one or two companies can make it via red tape and all. Then you don't have a FREE MARKET. Meaning it's not Capitalism proving my fucking point.
>>
>>97937258
You seem to be entirely unable to read, thus making the majority of your post entirely worthless.
Let me rephrase this simpler for you:
In no way has capitalism ever resulted in a free market.
Literal monarchy produces a freer market than capitalism ever has.

I have no idea what OP is bitching about overall, but it’s clear he got this from a Reddit thread about the Gundam creator who opined about his fans that “didn’t get the message”, so I assume the two are related.
> https://automaton-media.com/en/news/mobile-suit-gundam-creator-yoshiyu ki-tomino-thinks-many-of-his-fans-a re-just-military-geeks-who-didnt-ge t-the-message/
And like, I think it’s kind of pointless to be mad about it from either angle. The kind of people who search for a moral narrative in everything were always going to be judgmental busy-bodies no matter what the activity, and the people who just want to look for fun escapism will do so before getting back to the drudgery of life. Life feels too short to spend it lecturing others about how they’re enjoying their fake gay war narratives wrong.

Do you even hear yourselves.
>Best give the government full control. Cause if not the corporations will take over and control everything.
The difference between a corpo and the government is in free market they're often a small company that grows and often replaces said big unstoppable corpo. We see it time and time again. With the government in charge they just do what they do when the big business fails and push they're too big to fail and give them free tax money to keep them around.
>>
>>97937289
Man, the one time I specify both posts are mine, and this fucker acts like I'm two people.
Is it so much to ask that you fucks speak english?
>the difference between corpo and government
There is no difference. In any capitalist system, corporations become the government. There have been no exceptions to this in history.

Yeah, cause every time they push the government to push control over something, meaning they just need to play nice to said agency and get their own people in their as well as lobby for rules to suit their needs. If the government says hands off they are own their own on shit. Then those who fuck up get eaten by growing companies, and the cream rises to the top. We see it time and time again. If they can't use war, or the government to take out their rival. It becomes who sells more, rather then getting a judge to pay off and all. Hints why it's always the big companies pushing for a board of something to control said market.
>>
>>97937335
The government controlling everything is an inevitable and unavoidable consequence of capitalism, if it is a allowed to survive.
Funnily enough, capitalism is a highly efficient system for making oligarchies, and then monarchies.
The stable system always emerges in the end.
>>
>>97937341
>It's inevitable so just let it happen under marxism now ruin everything rather then when people fuck up later on and give the government full control like every marxist shithole.
Yeah, Capitalism is the most stable one. Is it perfect, no. However it's by far the best one we got. Keep the free market and things tend to be good.
You even admit that once someone takes control it turns to shit. Why give it to people who can raise taxes and push hyper infatuation to hide from their failures?
Oh, is it cause you might get to vote on them in a ballot over voting using your wallet?
>>
>>
>>97937359
>Capitalism is the most stable one
Not by a long shot.
Even basic single dynasty monarchies eclipse the longevity of capitalistic systems by a factor of ten.
Let alone near complete governmental control theocracies, which lasted millenia so fast that it strays into prehistory.
>>
>>97937362
The prognosis for democracies and republics are similar, sadly.
Shit gets usurped within a few hundred years, erry time. Even venice with their wacky voting laws started having "princes" before long, who had greater and greater control of the government.
>>
>>97937362
>Monarchies are stable
Sure, if you go so low-resolution that you ignore the brutal wars of dominance, entire houses slaughtering each other to the last, infighting, inbreeding and involving themselves in each others shit all the time.
If you put on your glasses and look at individual dynasties rather than 'The Kingdom of Wankballs has existed a thousand years (Under 10 different Dynasties all of which murdered the one before it to get into power)' then you're left with far less of an argument.
And I say that as someone who still wants my local monarchy to stick around.
>>
>>
>>97937378
There's a reason I specifically called out the longevity of single dynasty monarchies. Those already last longer than capitalistic societies by a huge factor, without including all the other families that ruled the kingdom of wankballs.
>>
>>
>>
>>97937362
You're reaching and everyone can see. Also what does form of government have to do with Free-Market systems? You can have a Republic, Monarchy, etc that free market dumbass. However you want to push your side as the new nobility and it shows. Then again brownshirts don't know what they say they just are NPCS being led along their puppet strings.
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>97937216
Free market absolutely requires government involvement to survive. Otherwise the logical and inevitable consequence is some companies growing large and powerful enough to squash or suffocate competition while pushing policies that benefit them and only them. That's still capitalism, though.
>>97937258
Currently corporate monopolies or near-monopolies are a lot bigger threat to free market in the West than government control.
>>
>>
>>
>>97937303
Governments put rules in favor of those corporations because those corporations inevitably take over government by buying the politicians and then push the government to make rules that favir them. Companies and their owners are the primus motor in this process.

Lancer just wanted Mecha Star Trek, however you can't skimp on worldbuilding like Star Trek does for a TTRPG. In a TV show you don't have to care about background canon, in a TTRPG you're expected to actually exist in the setting.
>>
>>97936848
Fair enough if you're sick of people having bad taste in their moral narratives, and do not want to be subject to contemporary political fashion. Their morality is puddle deep and not interesting, and amounts to just "capitalism and not letting me suck dicks and chop off my own is le bad". Disco Elysium despite being extremely leftist does an infinitely better job at communicating a significantly more nuanced leftist moral narrative than most schlock nowadays.
However, exploring and reinforcing moral narratives are one of the main reasons humanity even tells or listens stories, and the best stories always have a strong element of moral exploration in them, without exception. I didn't say there are no good stories that do not do strong moral exploration, I'm just saying the best stories always, without exception, have an element of that.
>>
>>
>>97937265
Wrong; even amoral people like to -appear- to be moral, because the advantage of being 'percieved' as moral is tangible and real, and if you are 'percieved' as moral, this gives you 'moral authority'.
Amoral people love accumulating authority for it's own sake.
The surest sign you are dealing with a shithead is if they turn to you for validation that they are "a good person".

>>
>>97937867
No, that's not what they want.
Or else they'd be engaging with some high fantasy thing or another.
What they want, is to flex their pseud chops, by applying real world (usually left leaning) politics, to fictional settings with radically different circumstances and histories, that were usually made to fulfil the requirement of a state of permanent conflict, in a vain attempt to prove both the "universality" of their ethics (haha) and also to "feel smart" by pointing out that "Hey guise, maybe the Emperor eating a thousand psyker souls every day is mmmmbaaaaaad?"
Like, yeah, stupid.
In a vacuum it is bad.
But the setting provides the context for the necessity, so it's THEMATIC.
On top of that, the worst of these people haven't quite climbed out of the 80iq "Depiction is endorsement" trough.
>>
>>
>>97937777
I wouldn't even say that, because they fundamentally misunderstand the point and presentation of both Gundam and Armored Core.
With Lancer and Battletech, the player interface is being confused with the narrative.
It's just nonsensical blathering.
>>
>>
>>97936864
>extremely amoral people who need to have constant "I'm a good person" badges given to them in order to make them feel like not awful people.
It's more like a product of modern oversocialization. People collect those badges as a form of safety, so they can say "See? SEE!? I HAVE SOO MANY GOOD BOY BADGES! I'M ONE OF THE GOOD ONES! PLEASE DON'T PURGE ME! JUST LOOK AT MY HISTORY OF SPEAKING APPROVED SLOGANS!" Since everyone digs into each others' pasts, the more they fill said past with approved material, the gooder the person they are. If they don't fill it enough, they are terrified that they will get shunned, purged, and killed...and that is exactly what happens with cancelling.

>The difference between a corpo and the government is in free market they're often a small company that grows and often replaces said big unstoppable corpo. We see it time and time again.
Literally fucking deranged. What we see time and again is that in the absense of (adequately enforced)regulation the big unstoppable corpos establish cartels and monopolies, and any competitor that threatens to replace them is bought out. The best part is now you're going to start bleating on about modern corporatism as if modern corporatism isn't the *result* of faggot Libertardians like you neutering government's ability to actually enforce regulation where it's inconvenient for corporations over the last 40 years because you were so utterly buttblasted by the unchallengable FACT that the post-WW2 settlement of social democracy with strong labour rights, an expansive social safety net, massive regulation of corporations, and significant redistribution of wealth via taxation resulted in the most efficient, fastest growing, most productive period of capitalism that has ever existed, as well as creating the happiest and most socially mobile populace in human history, thus proving that the alternative to Communism is not greedy pricks like you being allowed to do whatever you want but a society that balances freedom and obligation, individuality and collective endeavour.

I had a buddy who would play a lot of online TTRPGs and he had a group that OP was describing. No matter the setting they would make rebellious punks trying to become progressive rebels to overthrow the current order. They would literally only play the same exact group with the same exact goal. When my buddy asked what they would do in a Warhammer game they said
>Warhammer seems dumb, everyone is evil and there isn't any good guy faction to fight for.
Some people just really enjoy the comfort of a straight forward moral narrative. In a way they aren't dissimilar to people who love Tolkien to the degree they want every campaign to be Paladins bashing Orcs.

Because it's incredibly easy to rationalise away doing evil things if you convince yourself it's "for the greater good", but if you're playing an explicitly evil character who would be doing evil things for evils' sake then you don't get that psychological safety blanket and you're more likely to get cold feet about following through with the pretend evil stuff.

The irony is that The Imperium of Man was built by leftoids to mock us rightchads but as is typical with liberal attempts to mock their superiors, their feelings of inferiority (the root cause of all leftist thought) meant that they couldn't help but aknowledge our self-evident superiority over them. The Imperium of Man is the sole government responsible for human existence, controls the whole galaxy and exists in a world where liberalism causes demons to claw into reality and (sometimes literally) rape everything they get ahold of.
However, the generation that created the setting is gone and the shitlibs that came after and inflitrated their way in did not get the history of it being a Woke setting passed onto them. They are only able to see that it's protagonist society is something us Rightchads admire for its basedness. Since the tolerant left cannot tolerate basedness, they now seek to pozz that society, despite that society ironically being made to mock the superiors they so despise.
P.S: The nature of The Imperium of Man is why I'm often able to enjoy works made by shitlibs even though I know they are made to mock people like me. That being said, the creators of those works never receive a cent from me as I exclusively pirate such works.

It's obviously tg related, and just as obviously, the OP has zero interest in that fact. The intent is, ironically, to present their own moral narrative. Specifically they are attempting to radicalize people against the left by trying to paint them as weak, preachy, and overbearing. Your kind's entire camouflage efforts are built on imitating /pol/, the heart and soul of 4chan. You substitute your inability to argue with shallow imitation, knowing that your typical NPC mantras will just expose yourself here. Your intellectual deficiency still shows in your camouflage attempts because you end up creating bizarre self-contradictions:
>Calling someone a chud and a commie in the same post
>Saying someone is brown for saying that shitskin gangs shouldn't be allowed into our countries to rape our women
>Calling someone nigger for applauding the animal control officer that put down George Floyd the martyr of the left
I'd have a modicum of respect for your kind if you would defend your positions with arguments instead of with shallow camouflage. How stupid do you have to be that you can't even make a consistent ad hominem?

It's less not caring about background canon and more that TV shows can dish out background info in small bites. With good shows like Star Trek if you watch enough of it you can piece together the larger universe. If you are selling a box set of a tabletop game and not having a sandbox where the GM make most of the stuff up you need to write up the background.
