Paul the French frog fucker just evaded his ban after posting BBW porn on the MotU general when they called him out for making early threads so he had to come here and try to ruin this general too lmao. He has been doxxed and proven to do this to the Lego general for a few years. He might have been been the Goanon who was doing it to the transformers general for years before that.
>>
>>11721006
It's crazy to me that they really did alter the tool for this figure's arm to make the symbol rather than just make a small tool for his shoulder to add it. It shows no foresight to realize that they would ever use that mold again for future Aquamen or re-releases.
>>
>>11719737
So this is what we have come to. Batman riding on a dinosaur.
>>
>>11721142
Nothing wrong with that.
>>
>>11721142
That’s Rex. Show some respect nigger.
>>
>>11721203
This was Todd's vision for DC Multverse. An awesome, fun toy line full of edgy personality, guns, giant figures, vehicles, etc. But it was destroyed because collectors did not want that kind of line. They wanted meticulous re-creations of specific costumes from comics in the 1970s and 80s with a wide array of extra hands.
>>
>>11721142
It is a board about toys right? Don't people play with toys? So it's not what we've come to it's kinda how we are.
>>
>>11721218
Do anons here buy toys? I think most people here have too much tism, the kind of tism that doesn't know what to do with a pile of legos unless there's an instruction manual.
>>
>>11721217
That's why I'm happy about Mattel. Idk what they were like in the past but for Heman they do dumb fun shit all the time. This just got leaked and any hype I get for MotU makes me optimistic about DC.
>>
>>11721234
I'm worried cause it's the wrestling guys working on it and not the motu guys. The kids line looks like 6inch Spinmasters and I have a sneaking suspicion that the collector line will be just movie stuff. I hope I'm wrong.
>>
>>11721252
I don't think the collector line could be just movie stuff for DC, because a certain amount of figures are needed to be released yearly to make up for the huge cost of the DC license, and just what they could make with a movie only collectors line and kids line would not really be enough.

It wouldn't really make sense to buy the license and not cater to collectors who want comic looks as far as I can see, unless they have some crazy research that shows the segment has shrunk quite a lot, but the same research should tell them a kids line would not sell well either.
>>
>>11721234
same, import style joints, ball joint waist and maybe faceplates too like kpop demon hunters. My only worry is if we'll get wired capes, they can do cloth but I havent seen any wires on their upcoming releases.
>>11721252
been watching a stream where adam from gentlegiants saw the dc mattel collector figs and he said the fans will be happy so take that how you will.
>>
>>11721277
They likely can't get a good age rating on the figures with wired capes as the wire is dangerous

Gentle Giants, if he's one of their artists, at least have talent for figures and statues and should be able to know these things.
>>

Like it or not the weirdos who do these ratings of what ages toys are for will class swallowing hazards to end at an age lower than poking with internal wires.

he was a baf. baf figs were 5 bucks extra for the baf piece and you had 4 pieces. 4x5=20. So bafs were still $20 figures. There's no justification for that set being 80, which is why it's pegwarming.

Very unlikely Mattel will do wired capes. If they do they will save it for $50 collector figures like what happened with ML Thor

I just gave up on modern comics, too many reboots and everything may as well be an elseworld series. That's fine, people enjoy it so whatever. I think the most current dc stuff I have is court of owls, some random suicide squads I got as a gift and the multiversity. Once they decided to reboot after new 52 I just lost any curiosity. And crap like what they did with Alan Scott just read my decision.

Is the Batman who laughs a decent read?
>>

They don't though. One of the biggest complaints about DC over the past 5 or so years is the overuse of the Batman Who Keks.

She's technically public domain so if Todd or someone else wants to dive into Golden Age greats or a Matt Baker artist edition then she's easy money.
>>
>>11722479
She hasn’t been relevant in years and Todd already hates making female figures as it is.
>>
>>11722484
McFarlane Toys steals most of the best ideas I post here. Todd may hate me and Starman Jack but he loves making money.
A public domain golden age characters line in the same scale as DCMV would let him keep milking the line. I love his Image Founders stuff. They should keep going in that direction.

>>
>>11722489
No one gives a shit about Phantom Lady and her name isn't public domain; hence why AC Comics had to rename their PL as Night veil
>>
>>11722479
She's not. DC owns the name and only the blue/red costume version is and youd have to give her a new name ala Night veil, at which point you might as well just create a new character
>>
>>11722524
>>11722526
Nope her first appearance was with the yellow and green outfit, but her most iconic cover has her in the red and blue and that's the outfit Erik Larsen used when he had her fighting Savage Dragon, Invincible, and Witchblade.
She's appeared in comics published by both DC and Image. Sounds like a perfect farewell figure for DCMV if you ask me.

best of the worst choice there.
Paramount keeps WB as it currently is intact (unless something changed?).

Netflix deal would have split up the Cartoon Network stuff from WB. There's been a lot of cross over between CN, WB (films), Looney Toons, and DC. Physical and entertainment media for WB outside of steaming would be killed. So no more DVDs/BDs or going outside to see movies in theaters. Potentially, this also cuts the budgets on movies/shows, since those are two sources of revenue being culled.
Netflix buying WB would drastically change almost everything at WB for consumers.

Whereas Paramount buying WB would be mostly internal shit like what we saw when ATT and Discovery bought Warner Bros. At worse, the cutbacks that happen will mean less media comes out... which would have happened even if Netflix bought them.

For /toy/ it matters very little, unless the ownership change will cause Mattel to lose the license (this happened when Microsoft bought Bethesda and Activision: licenses like Fallout and Call of Duty were put on halt/canceled). And Mattel losing the license is always a good thing.
>>
>>11724259
>Mattel losing the license is always a good thing
Why do you idiots have such a hate boner on for Mattel? Get the fuck over it. They are the only domestic company that should have the license.

>>
>>11724274
I grew up in the 80s, and i currently own a lot of nostalgiashit that i grew up with.

I own modern GI Joes. I own modern TMNT. I own modern DC figures. I own modern Marvel figures. I own modern Star Wars figures. I own modern Robotech toys. I own modern Ducktale figures. I own modern D&D figures.

I don't own modern He Man figures, despite me being a giant heman fan in the 80, because modern He Man figures are shit.

So you're wrong that I'm hating on Mattel for the shitty figures that the made 6 years ago, because they STILL make shitty figures. So unless Mattel drastically steps up for their CURRENT shit for their "collector" DC line, Mattel losing the license will always be a good thing.

The Gangbuster arc from the Superman comics around this time were some of my formative experiences reading comics, my grandma bought them all for me as they came out. I think he may have gotten one figure before, ever, in one of the JLU series but otherwise I’ve been waiting almost 40 years for him. My guess is that more people give a shit about Phantom Lady than do Gangbuster, so I lost my shit when Todd showed him..really hope it still happens.

I don't get it either. Mattel had more love for DC history than DC did.

I've got the Metal Men, Silver Age Doom Patrol, Kamandi, OMAC, Gentleman Ghost, Ultra Humanite, Jemm, several 4th World characters and the Wonder Twins.

Todd is supposed to be at Zolocon this weekend and an anon has said he will attend so perhaps he will bring us some news. Hopefully he gets some information on the missing semi truck trailer that had the page puncher Super Girl and Killing Joke Joker figures.

>>
>>11724745
>I don't get it either. Mattel had more love for DC history than DC did.
who cares if they have more love for DC's history if all their toys looked like shit. Not only did their toys look like shit, but the articulation was outdated shit, thus making it overpriced.

everyone would REEEEE the fuck out over Mattel's crap, unless they didn't actually care about quality and just needed to own SOMETHING.

>>11725235
ACTUALLY, the people who bought Mattel's DC lines were contrarians, because the majority opinion was that they were shit, hence all of Mattel's lines constantly getting canceled and Mattel getting the license stripped from them.
The only reason Mattel got the license back is because everyone who was in charge of WB and stripped the license from Mattel in the first place got fired during the layoffs from the ATT/Discovery buyouts and WB is in dire need of $$$$$ and Mattel has been in desperate for a boys toyline since they lost the DC license in 2019. They even outbid HAsbro for the STar WArs license back in the 20s, but Hasbro's relationship with Marvel/Disney allows them to keep it.

Cool it with the ageism. its not only uncs that have lit patios.
>>
>>11725337
How many times do you think you've mentioned patios? If you're going to be like this for ANOTHER year you should just get it over with and kill yourself.
>>
>>11725345
Bro cool it with the patioicsm. It's not 1982 and you can't just talk like that in public anymore.

How insecure with yourself do you have to be to keep sperging out, for a year now, about the fact that a complete stranger, who you'll never meet, might be more well off than you are? Inb4
>hurr durr he was bragging about his wealth
Because, it was related to the conversation we were having at the time. Sorry that I don't get my panties in a twist over meager price hikes and that I don't live in poverty. Go be an insecure goober somewhere else, reddit feels more your speed.

>>
>>11725251
Depends how successful and how long the line goes for. Obviously we'll be getting big names for the first two years, that's a given. If they're smart though, maybe after the first few waves, they start tossing in a c-lister or two per wave to satisfy the deep cut folks. That's how Marvel Legends does it. The latest Spider-Man wave featured two Spidey variants but also featured a never ever, fucking Cardiac. It seems to work well for ML. Mattel should really copy that strat.

Back in my day DC toys were made by real companies like Kenner and we didn't give a FUCK about a list or c list only what looked the coolest.

Good weather this weekend. Thinking it might be nice enough to get a play session in on the patio later.
>>
>>11725437

You're so clever anon.
>>
I just want to let you all know that /toy/ collecting is over. Enjoy the rest of your weekend bros.
>>
>>11725454
Care to elaborate?
>>
>>11725452
It's literally cheaper to collect pallets and build patios than it is to chase down high quality collectibles like Mcfarlanes and Mafexs.
>>
>>11725473
Boy, I live in your head and I don't pay rent.
>>
Todd lets you decide that last 8 dc releases (4 collectors, 2 2 packs, a megafig, and a vehicle) who do you choose? For me it's:
>New52 Aquaman
>Suicide Squad movie Enchantress
>Mera
>Blue Devil
>Toyman and Prankster
>Trickster and Weather Wizard
>Parasite
>Justice Jogger
>>
>>11725482
Unfortunately no.
>>
>>11725486
Definitely not Starman Jerk or Phantom Gaydy
>>
>>11725437
Yeah. This is exactly what shipping anon said would happen.
>>
Is this just one guy talking to himself?
>>

The real dc gen is a private discord. I'll ask the mod if I can you the invite. There are at least 3 people on the discord so the conversation is easy going.

Hell yeah

It's just that a lot of time literal who's look cooler to me because I'm already used to how cool the a listers can be.
>>
>>11725436
Different markets. Kenner DC toys were marketed towards actual children, Todd's DC Multiverse, and the upcoming Mattel collector lines are marketed towards manchildren.

>>
>>11725539
I will thanks. You keep whining about your public domain characters that literally no one else cares about tho.
>>
>>11725540
The toys of public domain characters are all shit and Todd is doing an entire line for Image founders, plus other independent creators like Mignola and Hellboy.
Doing a golden age series with iconic artists like Matt Baker's Phantom Lady, Lady Satan, Fantomah, Stardust, Frazetta's Buck Rogers, would all be public domain so Todd wouldn't have to fuck with licenses.
It would cost him nothing and it would be a tribute to the history of comic books, easily marketable as collectibles while expanding on lines he's already spent years developing and building a customer base for.
Sandra Knight Phantom Lady is easy money.

yeah there’s a reason “people forget about the movie”
if you’re going to imply that I should be happy with those abominations for Watchmen figures, at least post the DCUC ones which are objectively better in every respect
>proceeds to list a bunch of literally who characters no one has ever heard of
“Dee Tyler” ffs. I’m quite certain Todd will leap at this opportunity
>>
>>11725614
Dee Tyler is 100% owned by DC and wears the same costume as Sandra Knight, so making one would effectively be making two. Collectors would be buying double just for display, plus one for backup, plus one to keep mint.
Those ones are okay but the colors are gaudy and feel like happy meal toys.
>>
>>11725625
You are the only one who cares about these characters. Just saying they are popular doesn't mean they actually are. You're so annoying dude. Try not being a tremendous homo. Just try.
>>
>>11725627
Nightmaster and Black Condor are getting figures. McFarlane Toys is giving away Kite Man to anyone who visits their booth at Zolocon. Whatever point you're trying to make about d-list pegwarmers is fucking retarded, none of those characters have the same legacy and connection to the history of comic books as Phantom Lady.
>>
>>11725629
You're right. Phantom Lady and Starman Jack are even less so. Sorry that you're so offended that no one cares about your golden age public domain characters. If you want figures of them so bad, just commission some customs and shut the fuck up already. It's beyond annoying

What we really need is Patio Domain characters like that anon who has a 10,000 unstable patio that will collapse while his fat ass waddles across it one day.
>>
>>11725638
Speaking of fatasses waddling I wish mcfarlane went full 90s spawn and gave us weird shit like legends of the Batman. Which were clearly inspired by spawn. I need to try to collect a full set one day but there's already so much shit I'm collecting. Check this sick bird suit out.

Yes I'm desperately trying to save this thread from the Phantom Patio poster.

Pathetic
>>
>>11725759
It's the Joe Classified Retro Duke.

The younger looking Duke head is easier to find on eBay and has normal blond eyebrows so you would probably like that one better.

I don't have Arthur handy and, if I do find an Aquaman to test a head swap for you (maybe Monday?), it's not going to be Todd Slop. But I should be able to do it before the the end of the week.

I do plan to get that OP Ross one, with the fixed eyes, and the stealth black one is in my pile of loot (45 more days) for a custom black body so if you want to see him on Todd Brand Plastic, you will have to wait. You're better off hoping on You Doodle.

I might find and buy the Aquaman tomorrow when I go return some joes but that's the store next to my grocery and it is the most picked through for toys because there a highschool and two community colleges right on their bus stop.

I was in a different part of the county with two Ross near each other so looked there and did buy things but only found that Batman. And who wants fucking cheap Batman?
>>
>>11725769

Fake as poseur fan spouting dogshit crap; bet you think Jason Mamoa Aquaman is his default design....

Going left to right: first figure is evergreen Aquaman, middle figure is the chase variant of the first figure: Aquaman's famous blue camouflage outfit from a late 80s mini series that was later recolored and given to Aqualad when Phil Jimenez butched him up and renamed him Tempest, and the one on the right is an attempt at a 00s era evergreen Aquaman.
>>
>>11727034
You retard.
>>
>>11727034
No, the camo outfit was part of the Atom Smasher wave. They halfassed Aquaman 2 from Sword of Atlantis and didn't bother to retool his belt for the "Classic" version.
>>
>>11727075
This just reminds me how hard it is to get into the character of Aquaman. There are some good runs but I've never been able to follow his series for more than a few months.
