So, some news regarding Mattel Brick Shop sets!

With the piece count compared to the figure count, I’m not sure if these “new micro world figures in dynamic poses” are actually articulated, or if they’re called dynamic simply because the poses vary from figure to figure even though each one is static.

The Fright Fighter, though, is a helicopter, which gives it the highest chance of using the old micro action figure system. It’s much smaller compared to Castle Grayskull and Snake Mountain, which are full fortresses. Because of that, there are basically three possible outcomes.

1. The “new micro world figures” is just a rebrand of the current micro action figure system. That would be the best case scenario. Maybe the Fright Fighter could carry that legacy even if the other two sets don’t, simply because of its smaller size.

2. It’s an entirely new figure system. Whether it’s larger than the micro action figure system, or more or less articulated, remains to be seen.

3. Worst case scenario, they standardize the 1x1 stud static figure system. You know, the 1x1 Cortana, Roland, Vault Boy, and Squid Game Pink Soldiers. I’m not against that system, but I’m hoping it won’t end up being a cop out that replaces the micro action figure system. Then again, all eyes are on the Fright Fighter… unless they somehow decide to include a 1x1 Skeletor figure with it, which would honestly be kind of laughable.

Right now, the full lineup of Mattel Brick Shop Masters of the Universe movie sets seems to be:

My guess would be pretty unlikely but not impossible, we already know that:

1.- They Love Scareglow, I think minus maybe skeletor and He-man he has the most MOTU love, several versions of the 1/6 line but also the huge sofubi and it's color variants.

2.- They are not opposed to doing a mondo take, scareglow himself got scare-mare which while approved by mattel was a MONDO design.

Probably gonna depend a lot on how good the 200x line does.

I had to tap out when the thunder cats got announced and after seeing the transformer crossover I knew I made the better choice for me and enjoyment of motu overall. If the bad guys weren't so cool looking and the deluxes didn't have a that swanky baf I doubt I would have bothered with tog but I'm honestly glad I did get the tog figures I do have. And it's an unpopular feeling but I do enjoy the snake men being further developed, that's the type of stuff I want to see from the line going forward as we are closing the door on vintage figures. I just don't want to keep buying he mans and skeletons over and over, because I'm like you in that I've been actively collecting since the beginning of origins, it just feels dumb and it kinda bothers me that I'm pretty much wasting $20+ to build a collection that no one gives a fart about other than me, like hoarding in a sense.
What I would like is for mattel to explore preternia or maybe even some new person on new world, it worked with She ra so why couldn't a similar idea work now?
I just don't see myself being here this time next year if all mattel is offering are cross overs and the main cast in new colors. I know that the movie is coming and that mattel will focus heavily on that and the new customers but they have to give us old guys something. I like to think mattel appreciates our dedication to motu and will not just leave us out the cold.

For example, 200x has a lot of new stuff out now or for preorder. No one is posting their hot new 200x toys like we would have seen a couple years ago. I'd be willing to at least pay attention to anything that is not connected to the upcoming movie, not another re hash of the core characters or a cross over. Just like I've done with the cartoon collection I pick up a figure that is unique or different enough from the origins figure that I can explain why I bought it. Sn example would be clawful, it looks completely different from the origins figure or say a vultak who doesn't have a mainline origins figure. I got the cartoon skeletor but skipped the cartoon he man, because to me skeletor looks spot on as far as screen to figure goes but he man just isn't different enough for me to buy another version of him. Regardless I doubt mattel will do anything to get me back to level of excitement that I was riding for the past few years.

So is New Eternia Evil-Lyn having shit QC a known thing or have I just gotten extremely unlucky? I bought two different ones recently and they both had problems right out the box.

The first one I got had her entire knee joint fused together. Even cutting deep into the joint wasn't working as the entire knee piece seemed to molded together into the thigh and the calf. So I set up to return that one and get a replacement, but when that one shows up there's a huge tear at her ankle so her foot is just flopping about in the joint. She's also missing half the paint on that same boot.

I figured I'd just swap some of their parts around, make one good one and return the crap one to get junked...but apparently it's super difficult to pull these figures apart. The peg for the boot cut specifically is super thin and super deep into the actual boot itself. Even heating them up with super hot water didn't help as I noticed the peg itself starting to tear.

Is it even worth trying a third time for this figure, as I've never seen QC this bad in the line.

I did, the first figure the three parts of her leg were all fused together as one piece. No amount of hot water in the world would get that knee to bend. The plastic on the knee joint itself was stretching as I tried to move it, but even cutting that didn't help as the entire joint piece is molded into the thigh and calf.

I also tried hot water when I went to pull a figure apart, but that didn't work either. These things are pretty solidly built. I figured they'd pop apart like Origin figures, but those pegs do not want to come out of their sockets and the more I tried the more lose the rest of their joints became. Figured it wouldn't be worth the swap at that point if it left me with a still damaged figure.
