>know nothing casuals.
It amuses me to no end how /toy/ decides to gate-keep DC lore, particularly by picking one of the lesser of the lesser events (Zero Hour) to do so.
/toy/ only 4chinz boys are the original no-nothing casuals of this Mongolian basket-weaving pinterest puzzle palace.
They are exactly the people who bought out Captain Carrot because of the LOLZ.
Wake me up when a DC license holding toy maker does a figure of a DC character who never even had a self-titled one shot, much less a mini/maxi-series or longer run, and I can laugh and laugh while y'all pretend to know all about them.

Hey now, some of have a few issues of capt carrot and the zoo crew. I see no value in gatekeeping any hobby, especially when we will never share a room together. So whadda I care who is or isn't a fan, it's not like I've got to worry about being annoyed by "casuals".
>>

I only learned about Captain Carrot from reading Final Crisis and then doing a deep dive to see who the Zoo Crew were back in like 2008. I dunno if that makes me a casual or not, but at least I';ve read some comics with them in it.

Zero Hour was a very popular event in the 90s and it helped out launches of some of the more popular series and allowed revamps to happen. Justice League, Impulse, Legion of Superheroes, Green Lantern, JSA, etc.

the story was better than Crisis, but yeah, it wasn't a major shake up, but it wasn't meant to be.
As said, it allowed other titles and characters to shine, so they could rebound like Batman, Superman, and Flash did from Crisis.

Starman is easily the best superhero series DC has ever published. Watchmen is boring as shit and you can only really appreciate it for its autistic tediousness. Starman connects the modern era with heroes from the 40's, visiting obscure nobodies like Sandman and Phantom Lady celebrating the full history of DC comics.
Most heroes come out of the gate wanting to make the world a better place, but Jack starts out reluctantly accepting the mantle and grows into the role. Most heroes fly in and pummel the shit out of the bad guy, but repeatedly Jack shows a mercy and kindness that ends up saving the day more than the cosmic rod. Most heroes have stories that drag on forever and become retarded ass bullshit with ten robins hanging out in the batcave, but Jack has a kid and retires, passing the staff on to someone else to continue the legacy. It's about an antiques collector learning from the cycles of the past and growing beyond them, and one of the most intelligent and mature series the medium has ever had.
I'm not saying this to be mean but most people here can barely read, like the Absolute and Hush shit, and are unironically hyped for Mattel's children's toys so I think Starman is kind of beyond them. Even if most of you can follow what's happening from text bubble to text bubble I think the deeper themes and messages would be lost on most of you.
But if anyone here has working eyes and a functioning brain and likes DC comics and hasn't read Starman, they should order the collected editions immediately.

Not a zoomie, sister
Just because you have nostalgia goggles for comics you read when you were a babby and your three nerd friends also got their tiny teeny boy peens erect over five lousy issues shat out by Dan the Hack doesn't mean it was popular.
So popular it's often referred to as DC's "overlooked" crisis.
So popular it's the worse-seller of their crisis that barely managed an anniversary one-short where even Marz around to temper Dan's stupidity (and desire to shove Booster into anything and everything).
And yes, so popular it still managed to not even crack the top 50 best sellers for 2024 in sales or dollars.
Very popular.
>>
>>
>>11754927
Why are you writing like a spiteful degenerate? Fuck's sake, sometimes it feels like only 10% of this board isn't emotionally stunted adults.
Both of you are right without even realising it. Yes, it was a popular event but at the same time, it's one of the lesser known events when it comes to casuals. Meanwhile, both of you are going on about discussing semantics like toddlers
>overlooked
>not even crack the top 50 best sellers
Something can be popular and still overlooked in the long run, especially during this day and age. Also, if it were completely devoid of relevance, they wouldn't have churned out an Omnibus multiple times and included the event in their DC Finest line

someone took the stealth aquaman body, tossed the mamoa head and hands and turned it into a black suit supes, with a custom (henry) head and a cloth goods cape
i mean, todd made a black suited supes from the zach snyder movies but i guess its overpriced with scalpers enough that this made sense to that dude.
all those bodies are dirt cheap and it's a really basic enough buck that you can do something with it.
the dwayne black adam buck is even cheaper, at $8 but you have to fuck with those boots and do something with the thunderbolt.
also don't get why the ass is so flat on some of these bucks and then todd shits out some that looks like someone baked a cake back there
>>11754765
>>11754769
spin master released aquaman regularly but then again they did shazzy and black adam so even though it was classic comic looks, that might been a movie mandate

You sure sound like a zoomer, considering you act like the only thing that matters is if it's popular today.
And you originally referred to it as an "event", so are you just trying to change your goalpost or is this just some ignorance of how many events DC has?
Out of all the 90s events that weren't "family related" (batman's No Man's Land or Death of Superman), Zero Hour is probably the most popular DC event from the 90s. Do you even know about Armageddon? Genesis? Final Night? Or Bloodlines that was brought up in this thread?
These had almost nothing of consequence happen, unlike Zero Hour, and lot of connected books improved greatly.
>>11754948
almost no one here reads comics, even if they own them. Most only care about their value and if some youtuber validates their choices by referring to their issues as "key"
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>11754988
nta Zero Hour was basically a cleanup job to Crisis on Infinite Earths that lacks a defining “hook”. It's important for continuity but it's messy and confusing. Widely known =/= widely loved. I'd give it to DC One Million.
>>
>>11754988
Zero Hour itself was NOT good. Time is breaking… but in inconsistent ways? It’s very obviously trying to fix decades of continuity mid story. Parallax is rushed if you didn't read Emeral Twilight. And key events happen in tie ins not the main story itself. Zero Hour is messy because it’s trying to tell a big crossover story, fix continuity errors and set up future reboots and it never full commits to just one. Hawkman alone is a good example of why the story kinda sucks.
>>
>>11755075
It was kinda neat but let's face if, the best event comic DC has done as ide from crisis and 52 is clearly bloodlines. Zero hour was pretty much just updated origin stories because wave rider did something.

Post crisis is literally corposhit. Warner lost the rights to Clark being Superboy so they deleted it, fucking over LOSH in the process. Then they proceeded to decommission all their silverage characters in fear the creators trying to sue them too. Batman was safe because Bob Kane sucked off every WB executive.
>>

I mean it damaged Hal's character for a decade until Johns resurrected him. Kyle's fine I guess, I always liked Hal more since he was a pilot.
>Knightfall
Nah. That and Death of Superman is about where DC jumped the shark for me and I stuck to Image and other non big two books. I didn't come back around to DC until Infinite Crisis.
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>11755092
Never said it was widely loved. I said it was good and it was popular, and both are true.
>Zero Hour was basically a cleanup job to Crisis on Infinite Earths that lacks a defining “hook”.
Like i said, it wasn't supposed to be a major shake up, hence the "fixes" being focused on the lesser important characters and series from the DC universe.
If you actually followed DC at the time (few people did? hence this event) it's not all that confusing, because most of the important characters and motivations was from not-popular series.
I think it was the inverse of Crisis, where Crisis was all hook (ground breaking concept), but the story was mostly forgettable. How much do you even remember of Crisis? Mostly just the important shit you only see repeated a billion times over from people who never read it, because it's 12 issue of filler and outdated writing.
Whereas Zero Hour had a much better villain(s) and motivations. The meta was great. And the writing wasn't stuck in the Silver Age.
>>11755075
Final Night had a ton of introspection, but as an event, it's kinda boring. There's a reason why no one's really wanted to put a collected edition together. Whereas Zero Hour has had multiple collections, because the side stories are interesting.
Also, Bloodlines is 90s dreck. Yeah, there's a diamond or two, but it was a really stupid cash in on trying to make as many 90s characters as possible before the market collapsed.
>>
>>11755302
I don't get the love for Waid's Flash. Reading it as a teen, it was West Coast Avengers quality writing (read: mediocre). I bought the first big two trades when Waid's run was being collected in the 10s and it only cemented my view as a teen. I bought a later trade, to see if people actually like it from his later years, but i have no motivation to read due to how meh the first couple of years are.
>it damaged Hal's character for a decade until Johns resurrected him
I think all the love that Hal gets is based on what Johns wrote and nostalgiafags hyping up a super boring character. there's some great concepts in his old books, but woof, 99% of them are hard to read because of how bad to mediocre they are, and none of them really make Hal into a good character.
Even Johns trys to condense everything about him, inserting his own nostalgiafag ideas of who he really was, and Hal still winds up the least interesting characters in his books.
hal worked better as a fallen hero, unironically being a nostlagiafag for better times.
>>
>>11755302
Don't get me wrong, I really enjoyed the death of Superman and I think funeral for a friend is an under appreciated bit of the story. That said it was just a marketing stunt, DC was #3 behind both marvel and image comics and needed something to grab onto saleswise and just reader engagement wise. If DC just wanted to tell a story where supes died then they could've easily just used the elseworld imprint but that wouldn't grab the same attention worldwide as actually "killing" the man of steel. I think that knightfall was a shark jump, once again really great story all the way through, but look at how quickly DC brought Bruce back once everyone got fed up with azbats. How long did it take, 3 months? The death of Hal at least brought in a new latern who is still active as a latern and been a big part of DC lore since he was created.
TL;DR
Death of Supes, Bats And Hal were all marketing stunts, and only Green Latern succeeded in creating a hero to replace a 'legacy' character that is still a large factor in the lore of DC

So is this worth spending $9+ shipped to have as a nameless thug? I will probably remove this head and put a wash on his pants or the jacket so it's not so clearly the Drifter Bruce Wayne.
Obviously, I will dump or do something else with the backpack. Swap those hands for a fist and a gun hand and I have plenty of hand guns from McFarlane's own weapons pack.
Or is there something better I can use. And don't say those fucking legends ninjas or track suit mafia figures, those are all more than $10 each in the here and NOW.

>Batgirl of Burnside is almost as tall as Red Hood and Nightwing
Mafex has already shown off an unpainted prototype of a more classic Barbara, Burnside is just a stand in for now, I'm not even the biggest fan of the costume, I prefer a more classic look.
>Steph same height as Tim
I have no issue with that. They're both teenagers, Tim is still growing.
>Damien looks like a strange gremlin creature
Damian as depicted in that costume, is supposed to be pretty short. He's half a head shorter than the Jon Kent figure that came in the two pack with him, despite Jon being younger than him at that time. Damian was depicted as comically short. To the point he was made fun of for it. So I'm fine with him being a midget.

I think with all the retcons/reboots the writers can barely keep track of how tall anyone's supposed to be most of the time. Interestingly, I think Damian as 666 Batman is as tall as Bruce or around there, though I guess it's allowed because he'd dead in that timeline.

Same height shit as DickBats - since Dick was classically shorter than Bruce and perpetually shown as shorter than other JL members, etc., as Nightwing.

>>
>>11756741
My point was that the demon spawn should have been an undernourished boylet of barely 3, max 3'6" feet in height, in accordance with how he's otherwise pictured.
And Dick should have been, proportionally, about 5.8"/5'9" or more like 2x the height of the demon spawn, not the suggestion that DickBats was 6 feet or more, with the Demon Spawn thus being some 4'5" or so (some 65% of a 6 foot plus Bat height).
tl;dr drawings lie, bro.
If it makes you happy and justifies a shitty scale, now you know what all of Todd's cultists do to justify their cult behavior

Honestly it's close enough that it doesn't bother me all that much and the ones that are egregiously bad kad Batgirl are slated to eventually get replaced anyway. And hey, if Mattel stuff scales with Mafex and isn't complete garbage, maybe I'll jump on that line.

I'll be honest, I'm still seeing this face when I close my eyes. I am in a very fucked up headspace right now.
When the adrenaline came crashing down earlier, I began to shake uncontrollably and hyperventilate. This figure was certainly not on my bingo card for this year. And I almost told my wife that I didn't want to go for that walk after the gym, but she begged since it was so nice out and we had time before she left for work.

Yes, however it would have to be of the version before DC started publishing her, so no goggles for one. the modern version seen in Post-Crisis comics was made as a successor(two different ones, actually). Her PD status has been in contention, which is probably why DC chose to just make new characers using the name but with distinct designs they'd sue you for using. This is the plan to get around any lapsing into PD for any big characters, btw. Like you'll get Batman but anything that isn't from the first year will take you a while to get.

Then like a day later he actually broke into the house. It's wild.

Their ugly toys are crowding out everything else at Target and Walmart. Even GameStop was filthy with this garbage.
Who do we have to bomb next to stop this from happening? Some LA and NYC theaters, a few in St. Louis and Lawrence, Lincoln, and Nashville, Chicago needs to go, too, and Miami doesn't need to wait to be flooded over.

nintendofags spend money on anything with the brands they love
the hierarchy of autism is as follows:

- anime and video games: annoying permanent children likely on the spectrum
- sonic and transformers: full blown tism funded by government benefits

Todd really has wrecked the hobby for DC collectors. I walked into one of the few local stores in my town that still sells a few action figures because they are trying to unload old stock (mostly old 3.5" Star Wars, some old (OLD) Spawn, Playmates and other garbage).
They had three Mezco's including the Snyder Cult three pack, with the actual figures out on display, so 5 different Mezcos. And it doesn't help that the bodies out (the ZSJL, Batman, and Daredevil) are all stocky, beefy bodies, but they all looked like stocky manlets in the glass. And it occurred to me that I was only thinking THAT because Todd had mindwarped me to now think of his 7.5"/7.75 monstrosities, with their really long legs, as the fucking NORM.
And another thing Todd should be blamed for is the FOMO, invest mentality that permeates DC collecting today. People actually taking pride in stacking boxes like this that they would photograph them as their 'displays.'
Someone else on reddit was bragging on buying discounted, per-owned cabinets and shelves from IKEA's as-is section and then displaying a bunch of boxed cartons on them, several boxes which still had the FUCKING PRICE TAGS VISIBLE in his pictures.
SAD SAD SAD.

Because threezero is moron who started this trent, and everyone just follow suit. At least Inart is removing the 1/12 label for future releases in their video game line which is the same scale as the origin suit due to backlash from Chinese fans.
>>11759114
Not really, there is no point saying your scale anyway even if you happen to be 1/12, as what the Japanese did, if anything it takes away your flexibility or margin of error, Chinese companies are just too dumb to understand this.
>>
>>
>>11759339
But if you don't say your scale then people can ignore the line because they don't know if it will fit with their stuff or after a review they will find out it doesn't. Why don't they just do 6in scale? It's so easy. 6 foot character=6inch figure and scale up or down from there. It's so simple I don't get how these companies have an issue doing it.
