I am not the biggest fan of the Vessel being a complete character by itself, during the creation process we give the Vessel attributes that indicate a degree of personality and overall individuality, but for me the perfect Vessel would be just that, a vessel, nothing more, a meat puppet to control. Yes, but /doe/ was started here out of necessity of not having any other board to work with without breaking the rules. The shelter is actually a former NIKE missile site converted for classified use as a testing grounds for experimental technologies. It was abandoned after the end of the cold war after being deemed unsafe, with all documentation shredded and all but one door sealed off. Dess had the incredible misfortune of being a spunky teenage girl into urbex in a remote town built up for families around what was formerly a dangerous military/government facility.
Whatever they found there, whatever foul secrets were left hidden in the dark there... should've remained in the dark.

TopoQuest/map autist here: the Shelter doesn't match the standard layout or structure of a NIKE missile base (although I do recall the two concepts being discussed some months back) as it would require launch bays, outbuildings and other stuff. Moreover, the structure of its entrance is far closer to a Cold War-era shelter for civil emergencies relating to active invasion, radiological contamination and munitions storage; the last point most strongly of all. Information related to contacts and protocol would be reserved for a secure office space if such a thing exists. If it was/is a bunker for civil use, then related materials would certainly be present though, such as military items, armaments and stockpiles of food in the form of rations. Furthermore, NIKE sites were never located that close to any urban center unless they were on the coast or at high altitudes, and they were intentionally designed to look ambiguous from a distance or overhead.

I've always suspected Dess often snooped around inside, which is where she obtained all of the related items listed.

Batteries are what you're referring to, and they're generally found in the hundreds, which is part of why I teeter on the references Toby used compared to its actual, probable function in canon. It's hard to gauge where he referred to for this kind of subject, so it's challenging to guess at this point if the structure being as old as it appears really is integral to its plot relevance or simply a facet of the Shelter's intrigue. For tree growth that you see around the structure's clearing, it'd need well over twenty years of decommissioning. Maybe thirty?

Ofc back then I think we all thought that there was going to be a different party member every chapter. If I remember well, at some point in chapter 2, Susie answers favorably to one of Noelle's requests, but she feels this is not a natural answer for her, she feels manipulated by some force that apparently wants her and Noelle to be together (probably for some weird shit that will happen during the festival, related to the prophecy I guess).

But you're right, not many people would have expected kriselle to be such a ship that made more and more sense as chapters went on, unfortunately confined to the weird route if you're not picking up the little details in the normal route.

You could call it such if the nonbinary person was female-presenting, it depends on if their nonbinary-ness is predicated on switching between presentations of male and female or if they dissociate from the traditional forms of gender presentation altogether. Kris is probably more the former category and would probably adopt more mannerisms and styles that would please Noelle if they were dating, so I would imagine it'd be yuri all things considered.
