>How does a foreigner get into trouble with them?
Gets drunk and does something he shouldn't have.
You are being retarded, these are the last guys you want to be bros with.
Despite gangsters being a pariah on society, they see *any* foreigner as automatically lower than them (or any Japanese for that matter). Even if you are blonde hair, blue eyes, and speak fluent Japanese.
Them hanging out with you, in their eyes, would be like you being best bros with a smelly pakistani or brazilian.
You don't want to befriend these guys, they are terrible people IRL

i stumbled upon a few yakuza dudes in Fukuoka last year, I was a typical tourist just walking around with camera dangling from my neck and I decided to walk into some interestingly looking street by a canal, a few strange young Japanese guys chatted me up in a manner unlike any other Japanese ever did during my trip, they were cheeky and arrogant. I managed to see one of them had a tattoo visible under his shirt. I just brushed it off trying to be polite and walked away but that entire small neighbourhood was strange and full of what I would describe as cheap looking brothels in shacks, for a second idea came to me to take pictures because it looked so unusual but thankfully before I did that I had this realisation that uhh I should better go away lmao

Bruh I've seen plenty of pictures/video of big white dudes hanging out with yakuza. If you're tall, have the physique of a bouncer and speak fluent Japanese I'm sure you could actually become Yakuza affiliated, good luck OP

>be organized crime group
>conduct "business", legal or otherwise, and settle disputes with lethal means outside the law
>stupid tourist wants to take up your time
Think about how that would go.
The only way it would work is if you happen to know someone who happens to be in the Yakuza, and even then it makes no sense unless you live there because who's going to make time and effort to get to know some tourist that's going to be gone in a week?

What the fuck is this line of thought? Organised criminals would take you head on like it's a sport? They'll get some scrawny, expendable deadbeat to shank you from behind with a sushi knife or something. Doesn't even have to be one of their own, they can rope some poor fucking civilians into it.
Let's assume they're theatric enough to send some thugs to corner you, you think they'll just send five? Once? And that's it? Not even Yakuza the game does that

>How is it possible to meet the Yakuza?
it depends on which type because there are many. Are you talking about the traditional, mafia type that do international crime? Maybe the low-level younger and new-generation type that hang around MMA gyms and do street-level crime? Maybe the even younger recruits (Hangure) who peddle drugs and pussy on the street and wear black puffer jackets and have blonde dyed hair?
>where do they meet?
These days, the traditional type are incredibly wealthy. You will never see them in public or very rarely. They are flying all over the globe or Japan in general. Sometimes you see on or two walking about in seedy downtown areas of Osaka or Tokyo- maybe they are having dinner or drink somehwere. The MMA/fighter types are hanging out in secretive gyms or their own marked gym/office. The younger recruits are hanging out downtown trying to make quick buck, theyre the easiest to meet.
>can a foreigner get into trouble with the Yakuza?
yes they target foreigners, but for smaller monetary amounts, not major ones. The most common scam is the bar tout or bar girl tout scam. You will be in some tourist or seedy area and they will approach you to follow them to their hidden bar that looks like every other tourist bar. The threat here is that all the staff in that bar are Yakuza and you're the idiot. When they finally get you drunk or drugged, they will either steal your belongings or present you a bill that totals thousands USD. Other ways are getting scammed via Western dating apps where the Yakuza girl will lead you to a Yakuza love hotel room, only to lock you in with thugs that will beat the living shit out of you unless you bring them to an ATM to cash them out.
>can one become friends with them?
the old type of Yakuza- the only way you can be in their network is if you are of any use to them. Either find ways to bring millions of dollars into their ring, bring beautiful girls, or be a weapon.

>go split lever club/bar kyoto 2025 (the one by the smoking spot by the river)
>clubbing, having a good time with japs
>hitting on qt jap that likes me
>asks me something and I say "no"
>she was asking me if I liked japanese girls and I misheard her
>FUCK
>plays mad for a while and comes back
but you don't care about that
>same evening
>hanging in said club and hit it off with young somewhat masculine japanese guys
>shots
>couple had tattoos peeking out
later on
>in separate quieter section of the club
>cool japanese geezer with alligator shoes and some suede smoking jacket sitting by me
>drops a few yen coins rummaging in pockets
>doesn't notice
>I pick them up, hand them back
>he is highly appeciative, makes firm hand grasp/contact and stong eye contact
>missing a digit of his pinky or ring finger
hmm.
>get to yapping with google translate
>Asked OG about his fashion, his shirt under his smoking jacket was also some interesting fabric.
>aforementioned young guys come up and say hey to me, then talk to him (we had shots earlier)
>old guy whips out an envelope over a HALF INCH THICK, all 10,000 bills, sheafs a couple off to the one young guy who then gets drinks for him and his associates
>they buy me some shots since I did the same earlier
real cool guys desu.

The Yaks aside from loan sharking, Indian-tier phone scams on the elder, and throwing drug dealers that get caught off of roofs or in front of trains. Run bars that target foreigners, the foreigners are roofied and robbed. Assuming they get wise and try to leave early before the drugs kick in, the Nigerian bouncer and doorman inform him his tab still has a lot of money to be paid. What do you know, it's whatever is in the rest of your wallet.
Yeah Yaks are fucking cool dudes. Enjoy your time with them.

I've been around the block (and to this bar) a few times, it's wasn't one of those deals. Touts are easy to deter since they usually only speak japanese, english, and sometimes french.
It was a truly random encounter which was nifty. They weren't kabukicho coded is all I'll say
