Good morning, Thai embassy. Songkran day off is over, so it's time to get back to work.
How's my dtv application coming along?

You might be right. Looks like there's tons of hotel availability in bkk and reddit has posts about how traffic is noticably lighter, hotel workers are mentioning it's slow, middle easterners are noticably less, etc.
>fuel prices up
>less people arriving for short trips
>air routes to India are being cut back
>visa free entry being cut back
>dtv criteria is said to be getting more stringent and selective, more rejections (pls not me)
>more people are drifting to Vietnam and whenever else
Hey embassy,
WHERES MY VISAAAAAA

My flight is being operated by Asiana and will be arriving from a layover in Seoul in late July. Am I fucked or will their fuel stocks be okay?
Also does that mean I can go to soi cowboy without having to deal with over 9000 jeets trying to sell me counterfeit Rolexes?

Flights from India to Thailand have definitely gone up in price. I was seeing flights for as low as $90 one-way before this shitstorm kicked off, $150 roundtrip. Just checked and roundtrips are now starting at $350 from Delhi. Most one-way tickets are $200+.
I'll be making the trip no matter the cost. An extra $100 in airfare doesn't matter much when measured against eight months of travel around the entire circumference of the earth. But for a group of jeets taking a vacation, the extra cost makes a big difference.

Google Flights shows on a graph just how much fares for regional Asian travel have risen over the past month.

Just paid $239 for a 2200 km flight from Kathmandu to Bangkok in June. Nepal Airlines has always been pricey, so this fare is only a little higher than the historical average of $200 or so.
Got a little surprise when checking my inbox for the flight itinerary. The new owner of the company I have worked for since 2019 sent me an email saying "it's so great to hear from you!! BTW we don't need you here anymore, so sorry :( "
Fuckin A. I already bought my return ticket from BKK to muttshartistan in July. Loyalty is a crock of shit in the modern world of HR roasties. You can't count on anyone to stand by you or be there for you when you need them, no matter how hard you've worked for them in the past. The only thing you can count on is the cash you have on hand, so you damn well better hold onto it.

Good morning, embassy. Time to wake up and get back on my impending approval.
Do you understand me?

If they cut visas down to 30 days, what's the point? I'm a remote worker and I'm going to set up shop in Phnom Penh in the fall. Easy residency visa, can skirt around taxes, and be able to hop to Thailand or Vietnam easily if I want for a week or two.

I will be returning to America as a hobo, not as a wagie. One idea is to hitchhike around the Midwest until I find a traveling carnival and hire on with them. Or else farm labor. Hence the upcoming forty days in Thailand should be a period of comfy solo wanderings through the provincial countryside, staying in pleasant A/C rooms and eating tasty market snacks...because life as a footloose vagabond in midsummer America is going to be nowhere near as predictable and sedate.

Roundtrips are for wagies who have a set date when they return to the wagecage. Long-term travelers on the other side of the world always book onward flights, not return flights. Sadly, most of the good one-way deals have been erased by the rapidly rising price floor.

How? I believe Thai immigration/ customs will give you a ton of shit if you don’t have a return flight. Might not even let you in.
I remember 6 years ago flying to Manila from SFO and the fucking airline told me they wouldn’t let me on unless I book a return flight
>>
>>2875926
Not always. Most of the time they just ask when you’re leaving. Aslong as you don’t sperg out and just say some arbitrary date that is well within the valid stay period, like 2 weeks, they will just go "oh okay, here’s your passport"
>>
>>2875827
You should start booking a fake onward ticket for your travels now. It never used to be an issue for me, but starting in 2025, I started getting asked about it more and more. Probably 50% of the time I get asked now.

>get angry from hearing a white woman nagging her man about plans and wanting to go rest
>turn around and yell SHUT THE FUCK UP
>both look at me, stunned
>continue walking
Idk if it's the isolation, or aging, but holy fuck I stopped caring and go so fucking angry

GIVE ME MY VISA RIGHT NOW
HURRY THE FUCK UP
I have serious fatigue for the place I'm in and want out but I can't leave while my visa application is in progress.
TELL ME. And tell me it's accepted. Fucking laughable if I actually end up getting rejected.

I'm currently in Bangkok, there's lots of tourists here, the hotels and hostels are rammed. It's reasonable to think this middle east situation has reduce tourist numbers, but in practice its only a few % down on the norm, perhaps even low-key substantial, but definitely not major.
