The food in Prague is good. Those Oh Deer bakeries have the best Kronuts I've ever eaten. Klášterní šenk is the best restaurant in the city. U Kunštátů has the best beer. Pizzeria Corto had good New York style pizza. Mincovna had the best soup Ive ever eaten.

Trdelink is a tourist trap. Go to any market to buy some kolac instead. Also, their Coke (Kofola) sucks.
In general, Czech food is a German copycat, even serving eisbein as if it were theirs. You can eat a lot of Southeast Asian food there though - in Olomouc I even ate in a Nepalese restaurant

For purposes of avoidance, where do all the hookers walk around?

Stay away from ShowPark. It's a giant warehouse red light district filled with smoking hot girls who will try to entice you.

Where are you planning to go? How long will you be there? If you're in Prague, get the public transit app (I think it's still PID Lítačka) and just buy your tram/bus/metro tickets on there instead of fucking around with the paper tickets and potentially getting fined $50 for losing it. Muj Vlak is the best app for buying train tickets if traveling between cities. Cvikov brewery in Prague has excellent beer and food.

Český Krumlov is a great short trip from Prague, extremely beautiful little town and Unesco World Heritage Site. Make sure to eat at Krčma Šatlava if you go. České Budějovice is on the way and not a bad place to visit if you want to see a Czech city with practically zero tourists.

Brno is cool but definitely grittier than Prague. Great food, sometimes some interesting events due to the student population there. Moravský Krumlov is a short day trip from Brno and you can see Alfons Mucha's masterpiece "The Slav Epic" in an old castle - highly recommend.

Olomouc is a sleeper favorite. Beautiful like Prague, less touristy but still alive like Brno. Get the stinky cheese.

It's around 20 Czech crowns to a US dollar currently. You can usually get a nice dinner for less than $20 USD - like, a steak with a couple great beers. At grocery stores like Billa or Lidl you can get stuff like yogurt/bread/cheese/nuts/fruit etc. for very cheap, I usually do that for breakfast and lunch and get a bigger meal for dinner.

Personally I've only ever stayed at "whole place to yourself" AirBnbs in the Czech Republic and it's been great. Usually $80-100 per night and you're right in the middle of town.

I think you gave me these recommendations a few years ago for my first trip - great suggestions, especially U Kunštátů! Been back there for beers like 5 times now

Oh the horror. I will definitely not go there to avoid temptation, thank you.
