I'm glad Amerifriends stopped pretending that this was a masterpiece

There are multiple scenes where the entire plot hinges on no one looking over and saying "we are doing a major crime/crime bust, who are you texting right now?"
Infernal affairs does not have that problem.

It was one of those "look at all the A lister actors we got" movies. It wasn't bad, just way overhyped and not as good as similar movies like LA Confidential (1997 - less than a decade before this film came out).

It was eye opening watching this movie with the mindset that he's a repressed homosexual ashamed of liking men, he was molested as a child by the preists. He can't get it up for women. He wants to always overexaggerate his masculinity and heterosexuality because otherwise he'd be and outcast and shunned. His superior says as much when they're out golfing. He needs to have a woman to show he's not gay and his cawk works

>hey how about in this scene, I pull out an enormous black dildo and swing it around. Come on, it'll be funny!
>uhhh ok, Jack, we can have the prop department get you one...
>No need! I already got one right here! Brought it from home!

I felt about it the same way I felt about Wolf Of Wall Street. Yes, it's lots of fun; yes, all the signature directorial flourishes are there, but somehow . . . it just seems a little bit silly. It's missing that crucial last inch of intensity you get in Taxi Driver & Goodfellas.
And that rat at the end, who the hell thought that was a good idea?

Black Mass mogs
It really doesn't. Just another Goodfellas ripoff.

Still confused by the final deal that gets Costello killed. This guy is pushing big time, big money deals like selling technology to foreign governments, then he's also personally overseeing small time drug deals that can be raided by cops?
