The comics are lame, but simple: Garth Ennis (the writer) hates superheroes so he found a way to humiliate every one of them. Nobody is a decent person in the comics, besides Hugh and Starlight. Even Butcher and the rest are awful people in their own way, ie the French actor being some kind of kidnapper/rapist on the IDF payroll basically aligns with his character in the original.

The show? They wanted The Seven/Vought to be Trump/Alt-Right/4chan or whatever they found disgusting and right-wing, plus some pee/poo and sex jokes. The whole thing derailed when the audience chose to root for the "wrong characters" right in the first season, ie manly Homelander and even Stormfront - who is, btw, literally Nazi Superman in the comics and love to do shit like using babies as gloves to beat people to death.

Now they can't use the original material because is too rooted in comic book lore so nobody can understand the references/jokes but nerds, so they need to keep rolling with the same ideas they used in the first season, while trying to appease both themselves and the audience. They can't really kill off he "wrong" characters because that's the main reason people watch the show. All they can do now is seethe and cope and try to salvage what is left their original "message". But nobody cares about that, they want to see more violence, Homelander and sex jokes. That's why the show you watch has no real meaning and every season is the same bullshit again. Peaky Blinders had the same problem. Their solution? The didn't had one, the finale was shit.

It was a real fucking copout they got rid of the first big WHAM moment in the comic book where, in order to join The Seven, she had to give all the male members a BJ as they stood around her in a circle. And she did.

Makes me wonder how they'll adapt that Crossed show fhats about to come out.
