If air on Pandora is toxic anyway, why didn't RDA nuke the planet from orbit and mine unobtanium from the glassed crater?

I only ever watched the first movie like 16 years ago but from what I remember is that in this movie (and I assume in the other Avatar movies too) the people are retarded and its one of these movies where the plot only moves forward because everyone in it is retarded.

>nuke the planet from orbit
It's actually much easier to just nudge asteroids once you have space travel unlocked. You don't need massive engines, just sustained pushing. Single asteroids flung to a planet are more powerful than any nuke.
This is a problem in almost every space show. Both that they try to use weapons much less effective and gimped, and that there's little defense. The Expanse actually uses the idea.

so just mine metal in a radioactive *and* toxic environment and fly it up through a Kessler Sky? and good luck with operating a space elevator, let alone building it. plus the stock market value collapse on Earth for, you know, planetary genocide. and then your metal is radioactive, too
the fuck?

It's called a kinetic bombardment and it doesn't even have to be asteroids. It can literally be any heavy mass whatever size you want depending on the amount of destruction you want. Just putting something heavy in orbit and dropping it is much easier than catching and redirecting an asteroid.

In Babylon 5 using mass drivers for warfare is banned by treaties since using them can render entire planets uninhabitable. Meanwhile nuclear bombs still see some use throughout the series since they can plausibly be used to take out military targets without too much collateral.

That's not how they have sex. That's how they link minds. It just happens to be awesome for sex.

Because Avatar isn't soft sci fi like Star Wars trying to tell a fun tale or hard sci fi trying to use real science, it's bullshit historical guilttripping about muh American natives enslaved by le ebil europeans.

Too bad that the show went full fucking retard with the Earth rocking. Barely anyone died compared to the books because the producers didn't want to make disaster porn.

There are probably left-wing scum in the gubmint that prevent them from being allowed to fully genocide the aliens

This would probably be very difficult with Pandora since it's a moon in orbit around a gas giant.
And if your asteroid fucks up the planet for a thousand years then it's a bad strategy. Especially if you end up killing the immortality whales or whatever.

This is the most retarded thing i have ever heard. Why would you go find asteroids to throw when you can conveniently just launch nukes? Is this eco friendly space warfare or something?

You'd have to bring your nukes with you and you don't get any more once you use them.
Rocket fuel on the other hand is easy. If you've got water you can make more.
