I just watched old stuff. There's something very comfortable about propaganda that is mismatched and not perfectly aligned to elicit the intended emotional or intellectual effects from back when it was made. It allows me to cheer on the writer instead of feeling fatigued by them. It takes stuff that was meant to be brainwashing, and which probably functioned perfectly in that capacity at the time of production, and brings down a peg, into a zone of conversation. It's still a one-sided conversation, but it's a nice relief after watching anything made from the last 10 years, which feels like overt conspiratorial manipulation and hatred toward me. Like it's not even supposed to be noticed on a conscious level and "discussed" with me, it's more like someone is trying to poison your drink except they're really, really really really really really really really really really REALLLY bad at making poison that is good, so you notice it so badly you can't notice anything else.

I really think that if the circus and the peanuts were better, we basically we live in a different world right now, we're Americans still trusted their government, believed in loving gays and being demographically replaced and etc etc. This shit worked perfectly for a century, and all the sudden it starts to fall apart at the seams and everyone is their own rebel attacking the system's core values, just as the quality of television and film plummets. I don't think people or society are really that complicated. I think that the people making propaganda, FUCKED UP. I think everything which was working, was based on the common social philia of the audience, and is not properly tuned for a human melange. It's properly tuned to promote or encourage that to come about in a society that has a cohesive and therefore targetable social consciousness, but not to do so to a society which already lacks that cohesion.
What I perceive is quality plummeting in an almost dystopian manner which can be perceived within even just one human lifetime, is really the sensation of the producers of entertainment targeting various groups which are satisfied by material which is insufficient to satisfy my own group. The propaganda is tailored for one group and in doing so it becomes untailored for another group. Their ability to target all viewers at once for a message is diminished by the actual fact that racism is correct and that there areyriad differences between people who have different heritage and different life experience.
Without the messaging regularly and consistently targeting any one group with a message which can be checked for and confirmed between others in the group on the fly, the entire effect crumbles, and you get what you see today.

I see what you’re saying and agree. In watching gradually older and older film I do see propaganda, some of which is obvious and some of which is subtle and/or possibly actual genuine coincidence. But like you said anything made circa 2017 or later and it might as well be the writer with a microphone screeching while jerking themselves off.

I believe the resultant effect is due both to a degradation of societal values and educational systems, along with a replacement of competent but malicious actors with incompetent but wellmeaning ideologues performing a crude imitation of the propaganda that made them without understanding its intended purpose. Essentially, I think modern liberals in the entertainment industry are a kind of cargo cult, they push messaging that made them what they are, without understanding the messaging made them what they are to destabilize.

Strawmanned broadly applied usage of the word "me"- which is to say "me for being a white male"- by applying it to me as an individual. Easy enough to play the same trick on you both ways in going on about how people do hate me. Applied broadly there's It's Okay To Be White blowing you out of the water. Applied individually, there are people who love me and hate me because I'm a provider with petty personal and professional authority over others. You can't project these things onto others from your own experiences so they are missing from the calculation of some driveby gaslighting you did.
