A movie that doesn't romanticize mental illness Anonymous 04/17/26(Fri)06:41:47 No.219807609 [Reply]▶

Personally, I find it very disturbing and shocking, but objectively it's good. The atmosphere is tense.

I thought this film was rather boring tbqh.
Picrel is my favorite film that features a schizophrenic character.

It's patchy, but often very good. Gena R. is amazing. The film walks a nice line between you sympathizing with her and getting infuriated with her.
Columbo is her long-suffering blue-collar husband. He does his best and sometimes it's enough and sometimes it isn't.

I have schizophrenia and Clean Shaven is the best depiction of the illness in film. It's one of my favourite films as well. Other accurate depictions are
>Keane (2004)
>Angels of the Universe (2000)
>Julien Donkey Boy (1999)

no you were right. there's some weird murder plot brute forced in that's really shitty and undermines everything. the schizophrenic scenes are well done and are horrifying, but they're being just shat on by this detective story that has no reason to be in there

keane looks like the best so far in the thread after watching the trailers, but i bookmarked all three of those, maybe its partly just because i like that actor from the band of brothers and it was also the only trailer that showed actual paranoia and talking to yourself
