Say yes to opportunities. Good things come to those who put themselves out there. Being retarded is not as bad as it seems. And remember to accept the love of your high school crush after she has ridden every dick from New York to Tennessee.

Boomer wet dream
>be a crippled retard
>mom fucks your way through elementary school
>pretty girl takes pity on you
>your legs heal and you become a football star
>get into college despite being a retard
>go to war and luckily come back alive and not crippled again
>become a sports star again
>start a business and luck into other business failing so you suceed
>luck into investing in the right stocks
>luck into not getting AIDS from whore high school sweet heart
>have kid with high school sweetheart
>be rich and mow lawns
There is no moral, it's a comedy.

I watched this for the first time the other day and I have a question. That scene where he’s running all over the country. Are we supposed to believe he did that all in one go without ever stopping, and if he’s a magical retard why didn’t they give him cool powers like shooting ki blasts not the one where you can run at a normal pace forever

he did stop when he needed to. he mentioned it in the movie, when he explained it to the old lady on the park bench
> When I got tired, I slept. When I got hungry, I ate. When I had to go, you know, I went.

>member elvis?

>member space?
>member woodstock?
>member civil rights?
>member cold war?
>member 'nam?
>member... umm that restaurant Bubba Gump?
>member Apple Computers? (he invested in that too)
>member that guy who walked across the country?
>member uhhh....the smiley face design with the "shit happens" slogan? that was forest too!

the thing is Forest wasn't just retarded, he was also hyper focused and seemed to excel at physical things and picked up skills super quickly. for example his brain absorbed everything bubba told him about shrimp which he then later used for his shrimp fishing endeavours

>What was the moral?
Apparently
1. Always do whatever the fuck you want.
2. Outcomes are determined only by luck & happenstance. Everyone else is to blame; take no responsibility.

The crazy part? That really is how boomers think. And it worked for them. Having to spend time around them makes you realise that life has taught them nothing because they never needed to grow as people. It's the most powerful generation with the self-control of a toddler.

How did Lt. Dan know to invest in the fruit company in the 70s? That seems like pure luck.

I think it can be summed up by this scene from the 1979 film "Being There"

In my head canon Forrest was in reality just an average retard who so happened to be a good storyteller and people would kindly listen to all his bullshit stories without saying a word because they don't need to prove a retard wrong, except for that one guy who laughs him off but a lot of people have low tolerance for retards.

>Be gifted the most amount of wealth any generation on the planet has ever had
>Spend it friviously all on yourselves
>Make sure to destroy any institution that may help the next generations have, not even a better life, but just simply the same fucking life you got gifted
What's not to seethe about? Quite honestly the worst generation in all human existence.

The moral is a positive mindset can help you get out of bad circumstances. The movie wants us to be like Lt. Dan and embrace Forrest's optimism and not be like Jenny who was stuck in a cycle of depression and abuse.

I-it's not her fault, though!
She was saved from all bad things when she stopped having sex with men! When she became a strong, independent woman who didn't need-no-man, she was able to have a job, a home, and a child and was the happiest she'd ever been in her life!!!
SEE!? MEN'S FAULT!

I've seen a lot of unironic Jenny defense recently and I think it both takes away her agency and makes her a less interesting character. When given the chance to stop running and break the cycle of misery, she completely fails. Unlike Lt. Dan, she refuses to live a happy life because she has convinced herself that she does not deserve redemption. Jenny should be pitied, not hated or embraced.
