>It's a protection job. It's basic common sense that you need a gun to protect your employer. I mean, duh. You're dead weight. He's just a third wheel without a piece.
He did have a point. Mike was too arrogant by tailing Nacho Varga without telling his employer about it.

Mike knew he was in a prequel and was going to make it no matter what.
>>
>>219812321
Trevor here thankfully tried to shoot him with the gun and not the bullets. 1 inch away from Mike's face. I call it the YouTube/Facebook -self defense technique.
Have fun disarming someone when they aren't trying to tickle your nose with their gun.
Mike's technique is still not foolproof by the way but Mike had plot armor
>>
>>219812321
Well yes it was quite silly from Mike.
>but he knew he didn't need a gun, he did his research and knew Nacho needed this deal to be low profile!
First of all, making the assumption all will go well and without the need for protection because you have the vague idea the other side wants it to go that way and betting your life on it is fucking retarded. It is especially retarded if you consider that having a conceal carry weapon on you, when you also have a CCW license and can do it legally, has literally zero opportunity cost to it, there is no reason not to carry just in case.

But even if we go with this idiotic idea that a weapon wan't needed - only Mike knows this, neither of the bodyguards or the employer know it. From their perspective, Mike is being an idiot. Mike can't reveal his knowledge right away, either, given revealing protection isn't needed invalidates the need for him to be here. Him not having a weapon suggests he's either retarded, or not necessary. If anything, he should have a weapon on him precisely to give the employer the idea he is needed, until the deal is over and he can reveal he actually wasn't.

All in all it was a very retarded way to show Mike as "competent", but to anyone with triple digit IQ, he looks like anything but.
>>
>>219812321
Why didn't Trevor just activate his special ability and turn Mike into chunky salsa with the desert eagle he was carrying?
>>
>>219812747
Because he was reckless.
>>

>If anything, he should have a weapon on him precisely to give the employer the idea he is needed, until the deal is over and he can reveal he actually wasn't.
Yeah but then we woudln't have this funny scene. It doesn't make logical sense but they want you, the viewer, to believe Mike is a badass who doesn't need guns and can do epic hand-to-hand combat.
>>
These were cheesy shows at a lot of times and Mike was the cheesiest character by far
>>
>>219812822
>>219812728
It's similar to another scene where 4 young guys on the street politely ask Mike how much money he has before they try to rob him. He does some weird grandpa kung-fu and defeats one guy and as everyone knows, young idiots who rob people, love it when one of their guys gets beaten up, so they just leave after that happened instead of beating the fuck out of him. They also don't try to sucker punch him even though he keeps turning his back to them multiple times.
>>
mike foresaw his dealings with this pudgy retarded freak and was hoping to change the future by letting him die in a deal gone wrong
>>
>>219812884
The shot where Mike has a hood rat on the ground while twisting his arm was really funny. They tried really hard to make Mike the geezer seem threatening in BCS.
>>
>>219812921
That's the scene I'm talking about. We all know that people like that love it when one of their guys gets their shoulder dislocated. It's not like they would all rush towards Mike and beat the fuck out of him.
>>
>>219812845
yeah mike as a character always struck me as a weird tryhard power fantasy.
maybe it would work if he wasn't obviously decrepit
>>
>>219813030
The "tell don't show' method in breaking bad was actually better than showing how much of a badass Mike is in BCS. Same thing with Gus.
>>
>>219812321
Why is there a cartoon character on the left?
>>
>>219813010
> We all know that people like that love it when one of their guys gets their shoulder dislocated
This but unironically. They would be hooting and hollering like
>“ayo son daaaaaamn he just go NAruto on yo ass like that the old nigga a ninja deadass”
>>
>>219813385
I know. We've all seen gifs and webms showing what happens when somebody attacks a hoodrat and all his friends watch when he starts losing. They aren't ganging up on one guy. Ever. This never happens. It's one of the most realistic scenes in Better Call Saul.
>>
>>219813433
That’s a gang thing and when niggers are evenly matched. If it’s some senior citizen they would be amused. They are simple folk.
>>
>>219813654
They somehow forgot to rob him, because it said so in the script
>>
>the stupid cartoonish show is... stupid and cartoonish!

Do anons ever get tired of not being fun at parties?
>>
>better call saul is perfect and is not allowed to be criticized
>I'll shit my pants if you make fun of it!!!
>all of this happening at a "party"
Weird parties that you go to. Have "fun", autist
>>

Is arguing with yourself really the best use of your time?
>>

You clearly weren't around for /bcs/

I'm pretty sure that possession of a gun while committing a felony is still a crime even if the gun is otherwise legally carried

This episode was pretty cringe. The show sucked Mike's dick way too hard. This scene in particular and his little
>you can be on one side of the law or the other
Spiel were really lame. BCS's handling of the BB characters is why the show is the weaker of the two. When it was just focused on Saul and the new characters, it was excellent.
>>
>>219814526
>while committing a felony
thats the crime, you fucking moron. if youre going to commit a felony, might as well have a gun. and also, if youre in front of a judge arguing your case, you already lost.
>>
>>219813069
that's because in BB Mike was somewhat of a believable badass
in BCS it got over the top
>>
>>219812845
That was the pimento sandwiches
>>
>>219816392
>might as well have a gun
gun charges can add another decade to a sentence, I can understand why someone wouldn't want to bring one if it wasn't necessary
>>
>>219813433
Grew up in section 8 housing, in the 90s if someone stated shit and got hit and was losing, it was on him. Sometime in the 00s it made it into popular culture that you needed to jump anyone who was winning against your friends (Friday? “WHERE WAS YALL?!”). You can still catch people off guard if violence is sufficiently quick and decisive. The dozen or so videos we’ve all seen a hundred times are always situations where the violence is continuing and the monkey brains have time to “think” and react.

this. they fucking ruined these two characters. mike was used sparingly in brba, you knew that if gus sends his top dog on a job it's fucking serious. in bcs he's just all over the place and he never fails and I also find it hilarious that victor had his job previously, like did he get demoted when mike showed up lol? the guy was clearly just an aspiring goon in brba, not ex top enforcer.
also gus, in brba his character worked on juxtaposition of his overly polite citizen persona, his level headed criminal businessman persona and ruthless emotionless true face, which was shown very rarely for dramatic effect, like when he kills victor or threatens walt to kill his daughter. in bcs he's constantly emotionless to the point that it becomes boring and loses any dramatic value.
>>
>>219812321
young upstart, that smart alleck, thinks he's so hip with his tiger stripe cargo pants. but he was never in Vietnam. it draws unnecessary attention.
>>
>"You can make it not so easy"
>Basically hands the gun to him

Okay, but how was Mike going to take a gun from him in a scenario where he'd need one?
>>
>>219812321
Mike was working for the audience (Pryce) to get the job. He knew what would impress the fat mark and he did that.
>>
>>219812321
>>219818122
This is Trevor, btw
>>
>>219817499
you’re not wrong but you’re also kind of missing the point. bcs isn’t trying to recreate the mystique from brba, it’s showing you how that mystique gets built. mike feels “overused” because we’re watching the process of him becoming the guy who only shows up when it’s serious. in brba he’s already fully formed. in bcs he’s still consolidating his position, which is why you see more of the day‑to‑day grunt work.

same with gus. in brba the cracks are shocking because we’re seeing them through walt’s pov. in bcs we’re basically backstage the whole time, so of course the polite chicken man mask isn’t as dramatic - we already know what’s under it. the tension shifts from “what is gus capable of” to “how is gus building this machine.”

victor though? yeah he absolutely feels like a promoted extra once mike steps in. dude went from trusted lieutenant to box cutter victim speedrun any%.

Sobchak was a joke. It's no wonder Mike just threw all his guns in the garbage bin.
>>
>>219817062
It was clearly some small street gang and they wanted to rob a guy. They wouldn't have stopped. It's just meant to show how cool and tough Mike is. Nothing else.
>>
>>219822502
I never realized Sobchak is Mr. X. in later seasons.
>>
I just realised breaking bad only works cause is goofy and comedic, anyway Vince is a hack
>>
>>219813654
Not really, niggers would happily brain some old guy
>>
>>219822502
Who's Sobchak? Do you mean Trevor, the cartoon character?
>>
>>219812321
holy shit trever gta 5
>>
>>219822804
That stops after 9 episodes (2 season) all of which happens in 3 weeks within the world of bb.
>>
>>219822595
I’ve had people try to mug me, but since I was aware of them I was able to pre-empt a sucker punch. Since their plans don’t go beyond “hit him and he falls down” interrupting that freezes their brains.
>>
>he did his research
how does mike research nacho. did he search cartel forums? there is no way he found out any information since he would have to ask cartel employees and why would they tell mike
>>
>>219812747
he hadnt read crime and punishment yet

It's a real shame we didn't get a 15 minute dialogue-free montage of Mike scoping out Tuco and his crew.

That's where the sandwich comes in, if they are standing at 20ft you toss the pimento at them and in their confusion you slide up and break their arm in two camera cuts. The guy moves like a Sam Raimi villain.

He can tell a solid guy at a glance. Just one of the things you learn being a parking lot attendant/philly beat cop/USMC sniper
That crooked cop? Solid.
That tree? Solid enough to support a dozen gooks.
That guy with change rattling in his pocket? Not solid. A solid guy would have used a coin dispenser.
