It is rather obvious that Yang wanted to pair Zuko and Suki together. She and Sokka were still together as of the search comic, but Mai broke up with Zuko and Suki since then had been acting much closer to him than she did in the series. IIRC, she even had one of those "I'm-we're glad you're back to normal" slip-ups that you get a lot when characters try to cover up that they're personally relieved. That's kind-off Suki's whole role in the comic since we dont actually see her succesfully defend Zuko once-
And no one really got cucked either since Mai had broken up with Zuko over him hiding stuff from her, she seemed to genuinely care for her father's coup and then ends up leaving the guy.
Sokka didnt get cucked either since Suki and Zuko while their relationship is way past the point where them being together would be a total crack pairing, they're still technically dating and the comics were the ones that began cock teasing a lot of Toph-Sokka scenes.
