This is the last case of blackface that is somehow socially acceptable in Hollywood. Will there ever be another?

It wasn't socially acceptable then. There were protesters outside of the premiere. Also disability activists protested over the use of the term 'retard'.

Race relations would've been fixed forever if they had the balls to give him best supporting for this

Yeah sure, there were buttblasted faggots who got triggered, but did he ever get blacklisted? No.

in this case it's simple. It was a blackface but it wasn't aimed at black people. It didn't mock them

So why make his face black? Should have been without the makeup. If they aren't aiming at black people then why would they paint his face black?

No one mentioned blacklisting except you.

The joke is that he's a method actor and the character they cast him for is black so he went all in going up with making himself look like a black guy.

Most examples of cancelled blackface aren't mocking black people

Same deal with all those sitcom episodes that got banned for blackface. The joke was always that the character using blackface was ignorant. You were laughing AT them. Yet those episodes are buried while Tropic Thunder is readily available.

RDJ wasn't doing blackface. He was playing a character that was doing blackface. Just like an actor playing a rapist in a movie doesn't mean the actor is a rapist.
Also the whole joke was that Kirk Lazarus wasn't ill-intentioned against black people, he was just a tryhard method actor that was so far up his own ass in "becoming the character" that the political incorrectness of it never even crossed his mind. And they Alpa Chino, an actual black guy, constantly calling him out.

>he was playing a character that was pretending to be a character of another character
You can juice it up all you want. It's blackface.
