Same deal with all those sitcom episodes that got banned for blackface. The joke was always that the character using blackface was ignorant. You were laughing AT them. Yet those episodes are buried while Tropic Thunder is readily available.

RDJ wasn't doing blackface. He was playing a character that was doing blackface. Just like an actor playing a rapist in a movie doesn't mean the actor is a rapist.
Also the whole joke was that Kirk Lazarus wasn't ill-intentioned against black people, he was just a tryhard method actor that was so far up his own ass in "becoming the character" that the political incorrectness of it never even crossed his mind. And they Alpa Chino, an actual black guy, constantly calling him out.
