Both of these could be done well with CGI, the problem is studios can't help themselves with CGI, so you'd have close ups of the clouds broiling, saturn spinning throwing asteroids, Chris Pratt going "whaaat the fuck!" etc

If you look at that poster you spend the entire movie wondering when you're going to see the image only to find out that it's at the very end but would have been more of a surprise if you didn't see it before hand!!!FACT!!!
