Just LOOK at how big the farms are and how damn many there are. It looks unbelievable. And how many little houses inside the castle walls. All with interiors and little things to loot and details and placements that make sense and ground everything. I've never seen a game like this, look like this. I love this screenshot. How is this the only game doing this on this scale? What the fuck is going on in Korea?

I like how the game always makes me think about what the bandits and such must be thinking as you walk up to kil lthem, since aside from you the world is pretty grounded. It's no wonder the rest of the group runs away if you kill them too quickly.

It's the best implementation of true scale in an open world I've ever seen, and somehow also incredibly varied and detailed in it's environmental assets. It requires no suspension of disbelief to immerse yourself in, unlike say Skyrim

The only downside of this game I can think of is the fact that enemies (at least so far) are mostly humans or humanoids. One would think that some giant spiders or other fantasy tropes would have found their way into such a massive game.
>>
>>
>>737025060
Its crazy how you can enter in literally every building/house and they all have realistic dimensions (meaning they dont suffer from the typical game design flaw of buildings being bigger inside than outside)
>>
>>737034815
There are non human enemies... I won't spoil much but there is a little quest, where you go dig some minerals for a friend and it turns out that the mineral desposite in question is a hug fucking crab/turtle hybrid and HE Will tear you a big one, I haven't explored much but this was near one of those villages near train tracks

>>
>>737034890
>>737034948
That sounds cool, but it also sounds like they are one-off things instead of creatures you can just happen upon in the open world like you can for a bunch of bandits.
Cool bosses are neat, but it would be nice to have some non-human chaff to cut down as well. The closest I've seen so far are the moving bushes and the weird swarms of mushrooms that are tagged as enemies on the minimap but cannot actually be attacked and do not do anything to you.

I really hope they keep going with their updates, even if this game is a slow burner already, there is so much more good stuff they can implement and improve upon a dream would come if this game gets Skyrim autism tier of modding support, downside is we are playing with premade characters, but who knows if that is only the case because they are our big tutorial camp for the future ;p

only if you are a literal automaton and can ignore the fact that the entire thing is made by ai and completely devoid of any humanity. when you walk around in this game random animals spawn out of thin air like you're watching an ai tiktok and the dlss is constantly morphing your entire screen, the game feels almost like a nightmare

The biggest drawback compared to skyrim is that even named npcs don't have that much to say. They really skimped on the voice acting. The writing is definitely there since you read about the npcs from the knowledge menu, but the devs didn't bother to give them any interesting lines.

there is a problem with it if the game has cracks everywhere, and that wouldn't be an issue if the game was made entirely by human artists combing over every inch for hours and hours making sure the shit is correct. it also ruins the interpretation aspect and infuses the game with a paranoia, because now instead of thinking "what was the artists intent here" you have to first think "was this even implemented by a human being"

stop downplaying retard-kun at this point we all know that you can generate code, art, music, voices, graphics and everything else, and this is just what we know of because AI's full capabilities are not being revealed to the public
>>

I've run into exactly one case of geometry not lining up correctly during my 33 hours playing, and I have never seen animals spawn in the way you earlier claimed they do.
Also, you do realize that crafting a world this size ENTIRELY by hand would be a herculean undertaking that would have made the dev time (and thus budget) colossal? There isn't a single open world game out there that is entirely handcrafted, all of them use some form of procgen, which in itself is a form of AI assisted tool.
>>
>>737036067
You're too stupid to realize that just calling everything AI makes it obvious you have zero clue what the fuck you're talking about.

there is unironically 0 exploring in the game.
you can find generic chests with randomgenerated loot, a generic shiny chest with a reskinned weapon that's worse than your starting sword, or abyss cubes you can farm from bandits, or a shitty puzzle that takes 5 min to do even though you know the solution, which also gives you an abyss cube OR a shiny box with shitty randomgenerated loot OR a reskinned weapon worse than your starting sword

>AI assisted development but done tastefully.
There was almost no AI involvement in the crafting of Crimson Desert's world, the only AI usage on that front were some unimportant textures, but the farms and their layouts, every little house on the map, the objects inside those houses, every object on the streets, the placement of every single tree, the walls, the ravines, the course of the rivers... everything was crafted by human developers with no AI input whatsoever
It's genuinely impressive and a sign that the game was made with passion, there's SOUL in it, the developers did this out of a genuine desire of making something trully impressive that would elicit feelings of awe from the spectator, such as OP is displaying
>>
>>737036272
People who like things aren't dishonestly negative about them. If you liked it you wouldn't be lying and saying everything is made by AI. That is a statement only possibly made by someone with a hate boner against it.

The spinning ones that can kill you in 2 rams? Not really, either you beat it traditionally or stagger them to use the gimmick weaks pot up top. As far as I can tell the force swing/roll is the only one that reliable worked for me. When i fought there just wasn't enough time to climb/land on top to properly stab, or to try turn slash/force palm(if it even works). Maybe a charged arrow could work?

the difference is that in real life you only have to deal with other humans who are similarly limited and vulnerable.
Notice how modern society doesn't have roaming bandit gangs anymore because of modern military organization?
Notice how militarized terrorist groups only seem to be viable in the middle east where they are low key supported by the government of the jurisdiction they reside in?
Similarly, there wouldn't be bandit gangs if pre-modern states had superheroes they could deploy to effortlessly annihilate organized groups of lawbreakers.

If this is the scale A.I can make a game today, we are approaching a golden age of vidya.
There is more enterable houses and variety of houses in the smallest crimson desert village, than the entire skyrimtrash put together.
I play on ultra low settings and have yet to see animals/humans appear out of nowhere, no bugs except clunky controlers and I'm 160 hours into the game.

>>737047760
I'm properly addicted to it for sure. I just dont get bored at all when I play a session. But it doesn't have a cool lore or world and story that keeps me thinking about it when I'm not playing it. Games usually need something like that to get up to my all time favorites.
But it might be one of the best sandbox games of all time. The map size variety, and detail, and ways to interact with it all is just about unmatched.

>>
>>737047820
I hope in the next game the battle mechanics are fleshed out more. Let the player actually deploy the artillery and command the front line. You should be able to command troops to hold a strategic position, things like that. I don't think the devs were even trying to do this, but the little we do have from these battle sequences are way more fun than I had in Dynasty Warrior Origins.
>>
>>737048184
For sure. The little Whistler arrows could be made to do all of that. One for vollys, one for troup deployment. Like a type of arrow for a different class to move or attack.
And yeah the amount of guys you're killing also reminded me of dynasty warriors. It was silly.
It's just you have all that in a game where you go fishing and can decorate a little house and fly across sky islands. Its wild how much there is

I think people just see everything else the game does and sees not having a character creator as an oversight. I hardly care since I'm almost always wearing a helmet and apparently there's a barber in the game anyways.
There's also a girl that faggots can play as anyways so i really don't think it's a big deal.
>>
>>737048967
I just saying this from lurking 4chan. Look at the people that play something like modded Skyrim. They are never just playing as a male warrior. It's always some porn body girl that they want to watch get raped. If we were on another board or forum, I wouldn't jump to this conclusion. Most of them probably don't realize you can play as Damien, and from what I see in these threads the ones that do have her modded naked.

At least it explained why the MC is the way he is. The "good guys" experimented on Kliff, killed him over 100 times, scrambled his brain, ego and killed/spared people close to him to ensure he would walk down the "correct" path, ensuring survival of their world.

You unlock the notes after clearing the abyss puzzles and revisit the library there.
On the 3rd floor you will find details how White Crow and Alustin fucked with the lives of over 100 variants of Kliff such as creating a best friend(Oongka) to keep him grounded, keeping certain people alive to maintain his sanity while killing off others to set him on a path.
In one instance, they got all his Greymane friends killed off and it resulted in the boss you fight in the abyss.
They also scrambled his brain because they don't want him to be too careful or cunning as those would also make him go stray.
In the end, the MC's life, personality and relationships with his close ones were all crafted and planned to protect "the balance."

You should be able to command troops to hold a strategic position, things like that. I don't think the devs were even trying to do this, but the little we do have from these battle sequences are way more fun than I had in Dynasty Warrior Origins.
Was surprised we can't research artillery batteries, imagine the chaos of these fort conquests when mere terr...bandits are faced with the full might of the Ame..Greymane power

If you care about haircuts, focus on the story until you unlock the mission mode where you can send out your minions to work. There is a retarded amount of waiting to unlock the barber and if you play like most of us did it'll be annoying. It doesn't take that long to get to that point so it's advisable to do it, I think it might be a better way to get grounded into the game too.
Are you playing on PC?

You should get lightning elemental first. It can help with the boss fights and you get a abyss gear in chapter 7 for lightning. And I think camp upgrades should also be a priority, at least as much as you can. Having all the shops in your camp is really good, but having more storage space is even better.
And upgrades do make a difference, but you just need to get stuff to refinementlevel 4 which is really easy.

they're basically the last greymanes out in the wild to recruit, it takes a long ass time. And then you need to wait forever while you're building your garden and then for the apples to grow.
It's hard to put a number on how long it all takes but it's crazy long especially if you were just running around blissfully ignorant about it. But if you even slightly supplement your exploration with those recruiting quests and mission management you'll get it way sooner.

Get used to the controls. The earlier you start using all the buttons the faster you'll acclimate to the learning curve.
Boss fights aren't dark souls. Outside of their "big attack", if you spend more than 1 second not punching their face in after you interrupt their combo you are doing it wrong.

I did that with the ice elemental on the turning slash, and it was against a group of either low level bandits or low level goblins. Yeah the shielded enemies can fuck it up, but you ice elemental on your turning slash will one-shot pretty much most regular field enemies in a single hit (turns them to ice and shatters them). It can one-shot shielded enemies as well if they are weakened, but they can also block it and mess up that challenge.

Yeah but if you find yourself asking questions, I think there's no harm in looking up things since this game is as anti-yellow-paint as can be at times. Like I got 60 hours into the game, not a single elemental unlocked. Had most of Kliff's skills unlocked. I even had that piece of abyss gear from one of the Chapter 7 boss fights that enhanced the lightning elemental, but no idea where to get the skill. Looked up that you had to back to the first tower and continue onwards with the abyss puzzles, just totally forgot about that path. I didn't look up any puzzle solutions, though.

There are dispatch missions you can use to get rare resources. Mainly exploration missions. Which are expensive but let you farm stuff infinitely like skyroot, abyss cells, abyss gears, abyss artifacts, the level 10 upgrade item, etc.
>>
Is there a way to turn camp resources into personal resources? Like can I take the timber or stone out for upgrades or money out to buy stuff from towns?
And are these faction quests where you have to donate like 2500 points worth of stone really worth it? Shame the rewards from your dispatch quests don't seem to go to them, I gotta actually chop down the trees myself it seems.

I'll agree this was very poor pacing. Basically right after the climax you're taken away from Kliff for Oongka in a mandatory boss fight. As the player, at that point that's the last thing I want to do. I want to see Paliune liberated, I want to go check on my camp, maybe explore some more and take it easy a bit after a major conflict.
I don't mind playing as Oongka. Really I wish they just fleshed out the characters and made it so for pretty much most of the game you have a party with you like in Dragon's Dogma.

I put on a set and items I had stashed from somewhere and killed Ludvig easily. One of the easiest boss in the game.
Damiene's boss was harder. I ended up kiting him, rolling from his attacks and throwing lightnings at him, because the rapier did shit damage and I had no other weapon and didn't want to upgrade it.

They haven't changed engines because it was flexible for its day.
Besides, it'd take far too long to train people to use another, entirely different engine, and they'd have an even harder time making it easy to mod, not to mention most people working at Bethesda lack talent nowadays.
Switching to UE5 isn't an option, Beth's code is so inefficient any game they made with it would require an RTX PRO 6000 to run at minimum settings, and it'd still crash every couple of hours due to memory leaks.

if you donate items to the resource guy, you can slowly accumulate gatherable items around the camp as passive income. he has a few boxes of silver beside him every few days you can pick up, blacksmiths give arrows/ammunition, stone and wood supposedly also has drops, but i haven't donated any yet

Just did chapter 10-12 and beat the game.
The Marnitanksare the worst bosses by far, and I say this as someone who generally likes the game's bosses. Absolute shit.
The dragon fights also suck ass mainly because of bad balance. Blackstar is just way too fragile, weak, and slow. It should be a quick fun power fantasy and instead you have to basically cheese theartillery fight. And then the last dragon fight is just... spamming LMB and slowly floating back and forth? Yeah idk. Just buff the dragon's damage 10x and this problem fixes itself honestly.
Like all great PC games Crimson Desert falls apart toward the end, especially the story. Everything else was breddy gud I guess. The REAL final boss, not the last last boss, was pretty cool and fun.
Pearl Abyss really should recycle everything from Crimson Desert into a new game. Focus on a coherent story this time, and just polish everything else.

Thing is, Oongka has a few things cliff doesn't and they don't teach you that. Of course they don't devs hate teaching.
Rage gives you super armor, he's an ork berserker.
Go into focus, rage and kick his ass.
But the simplest way is to simply equip a flame spear which you probably have tons by now, right+left mouse click+elemental infusion and just win.
You don't even need infusions tbqh flame spear explosion does tons of damage anyway by itself.

I really really dislike the enemy variety in the game.
Literally the only enemies you fight are bandits unless you get into a sidequest and then get some kind of different boss (that you only get to fight once).
Also why bother making that big orc race but still have them act like completely fags who run away if you even bump into them like any other human?
>>
>>737094405
I’ve found mimic shrubs, mimic rocks, abyss rock worms, plant things which lash, plant things which shoot poison, bears, bear riders, flying wraiths/mages, Antumbra flying mages, Antumbra ground mages, weird shrooms that put you to sleep, bees(beekeeper enemy which uses bees) and I’m forgetting a few but I’m still quite early apparently there’s also dinosaurs and various shit later in the game. I’d say the variety opens up a bit when it comes to basic mooks later on. There are musketeers and enemies which use guns.
Black bears like wrestlefucking and use a bit of a different moveset compared to
say bastier’s inquisitors who have elites that like swordfucking.
There are enemies with flamethrowers.
Pirates you fight down in Vellua use water bombs that trap you, they also use frostthrowers etc.

Hour 150, act 5, just started doing sky islands.
The puzzles in this game make me feel like a retard they're so hard. Better than botw/totk where they make me feel like a retard because it's a baby game with baby puzzles and here I am playing it.

Bro don't even ask... It's actually criminal what they do to you, I assume 90% of people live in total serfdom though so, you know, beats that I guess.

If you do certain things and keep being a total jew you'll get a visit from a tax collector. Funny how that doesn't apply to goblins though

This isn't your generic openworld goyslop, the "humans" come in 3 sizes and have ~40+ combat style.
There's tons of other shit and only one boss is "human" (jewish goblin)
There's lots of assorted other crap in the game but the game tries to be low-fantasy for a long time, so magic and magical enemies aren't introduced until later.

You make it seem like there's this insane enemy variety but half of your list is just "random sentient object" while the other is literally just humans
>weird shrooms that put you to sleep
Stop reaching. I mean actual enemies that you can fight.

>the "humans" come in 3 sizes and have ~40+ combat style
Nigger what? Human enemies from the same faction have literally no variation in size or attacks.
It's somehow more basic than something like Batman where you have a
>regular goon
>ranged goon
>armored goon
For each faction.

Just some humans I've seen in the last 5 hours
>guy riding a bear with dual axes
>guy with a flamethrower
>chocobo rider knight
Atleast the chocobo ran off, the bear mount kept fighting and it was a fucking monster.
I also only recently figured out how to kill the stone lightning monsters because nothing in this game is cut and dry but I still have no idea for stone worms and vines.

The bear mounts are the only enemies that feel like they actually want to kill you and aren't just pretending like they're tough shit because they're in bigger numbers.
Everyone else just runs away when they're the last one alive even the fucking blackbears it's so fucking lame.

All the enemies to the north are on that murder shit I swear, the shield guys with maces are fucking nonsense how aggressive they fight, everyone civilized fights like it's a chinese martial arts movie.
