Post all the games you've beat this year, give them a rating or say a little bit about them.

You're supposed to make a list of games (You) beat this year
>>737045239
Why tf would I care to prove anything, let alone to some random online? I beat them on original hardware (MiSTer FPGA) with no save states, rewind, cheats, guide, etc. If I was just spamming rewind on an emulator that list would be like 10x longer

I want to say that I played Arcanum on Christmas and New Year's Eve and it was very comfy. Enclave is the worst thing I played, literally poison. WarCraft 3 and AoM are the best games

This isn't everything I beat for the first time, just everything I beat this year that i can remember, some are replays. I want to spend more time on more challenging games than just clearing a bunch of games now because its more fun than bulldozing through a bunch of console games to me, personally. This is in order of what I enjoyed most to least.

I haven't finished Darkwood yet but I'm in the process of. I just got to chapter 2 yesterday and survived the first night at the swamp surprisingly only being attacked by one dog and a centipede.

Nah, MP2 was rushed, soulless, phoned-in, and casualized
>shit level design full of pointless empty space where there will be 30 doors, 25 just background textures, 4 lead to an empty room, and 1 is the critical path
>ridiculous amount of cutscenes/narrative sections constantly bogging down the action. You start skipping them and realize so many chapters have less than 30s of action
>bullet-time was completely broken and any semblance of balance was thrown straight out the window. It lasts 5x as long as the first game, makes Max move at superhuman speed, gives instant reloads (complete with a pointless gay ballerina twirl), and regens to full in just a few seconds
>unsurprisingly, a way overtuned bullet-time system and enemies that die way quicker than MP1 makes the combat a complete pushover joke. There is one starting difficulty and you must do two full playthroughs to unlock the others despite them making minimal changes; even max difficulty is a total breeze
>To compensate for this non-existent challenge, the game doubles down on shitty platforming sections, fills rooms with explosives, and constantly has enemies that just poof into existence behind you from rooms you already cleared. The game is still very easy, but your few deaths will be to cheap gotcha bullshit rather than actual combat
>two enemy types the whole game copy-pasted hundreds of times
>motions blur effect looks fucking nauseatingly awful, and they base entire levels around it
>plot is literally just "the group from the first game is mad at you! they know where you are at all times and will just send an endless monster closet of copy-pasted goons everywhere you go!"
>Max simps for a generic whore who tried to kill him in the first game, to the point where he is reduced to a whimpering helpless puppy who can't shoot a few enemies without her help
>this corny ass story is told without a hint of irony or humor and they really fucking thought they told some emotional heart wrencher here

here's a tip, start one game and then pretend like the rest of the games in your library don't exist. it's been doing wonders for me. unless your problem is that you legitimately hate the games you've been playing?

I thought all of these were good, my favorite was Xenoblade Chronicles X and my last favorite was Resident Evil 7. First time finishing them all except for Duke. Was on a huge boomer shooter kick I guess

I had fun exploring the open world and with the weird side quests. Not sure if I understood the combat though even after 100 hours

I'm pretty much done with Capcom honestly, I played the pragmata demo and wasn't even a little impressed. I don't think I'm even gunna bother with mega man 12.

I don't understand why you're upset. I wanted to make one of these, but I can't remember what games I've played. All I remember is that I went on a dungeon crawler kick for a little bit and played Labyrinth of Refrain, THYSIASTERY, started Galleria but didn't finish it, a romhack, and I'm currently playing Monster Girl Quest Paradox. I'm pretty sure I played some games before that since that was pretty recent, but I can't remember what they were since I don't have a Steam profile to look at to find out what they were, and I don't have them downloaded anymore. Like, I also just remembered that I played Splintered while typing this.

I really don't understand why you're upset right now. You can't remember every game you've played, every movie you've watched, and every song you've heard. Some people can't remember every book they've read.
>>737052785
>also I was making fun of you because people who pirate games always have to remind everyone that they do
Obviously, it's just a fact that is relevant to the topic, so I can't understand why you're upset.

Got a job last year, and combined with working on my own game it doesn't leave much free time.
Silent Hill f was great (8.5/10), the only thing that got tiring is fighting the same 4 enemies after multiple NG+ cycles. Team Silent games are some of my favorites, and f felt almost on the same level with how layered it was. Expected it to be shit when I saw the combat webms, but playing it is more fun than watching it, and it wraps everything up so well that I don't have anything to complain about aside from the repetitiveness of late-game combat.
Alone in the Dark 1 was alright (7/10), had to use a guide a couple of times with how obtuse some parts were (the fucking painting hallway), but the section at the end when you walk through the cavesalone in the darkwas pure ludokino. I didn't know the game was Lovecraft-inspired, so the story and the lore surprised me with how good they were.
Currently trying to beat Tormented Souls (not that good after 5 hours), Signalis (so far so good) and Hades 2 (as good as Hades 1, though Zag was a lot more fun as a protag) when I have the time.

Goddamn. I thought I was going through games at a pretty good rate this year, but some of you are able to blitz through them.
Had a thing where I was playing racing games a couple months ago. Played more than what's on the chart, but I didn't finish a number of them because older racing games can be real ball busters. Was a good time though.

Sorry man, I very rarely beat my games. Here's what I played this year.
rdr2 : terrible performance but the game is so good that it makes little problems feel worse than they are.
receiver : alien controls but pretty fun. You spend so much time figuring them out that it makes your forget about the shitty map and enemies. Will definitely play the second one.
Potion craft : Very straightforward and beautiful. Art direction in the top 1%. Game is simple and quickly becomes repetitive.
Farmer was replaced : UI so good it makes programming look simple. Will come back to it.
Black Mesa : It's hl1 without the jank. Definitely worth a play.
Mirror's edge : not my type of game at all. Beautiful but controls are pretty bad and the story is boring cliche shit. Worth a try but definitely overpraised.

Since you played the Arkham games, mind telling me what are you thoughts on Red Dead Redemption? Does this game have things in common with Arkham games?
Been interested in it for a while
Also how come you don't have Arkham Origins?

Megaton Musashi Wired (great game)
Fire Emblem 7 (okay)
Soul Calibur 2 (really good)
Batsugun (okay)
Metroid Prime Remastered (immaculate)
Cyberpunk Phantom Liberty (pretty good)
Another Code Two Memories (decent)
Xenoblade X Definitive Edition (12/10)
Replayed Wind Waker
Pokemon Legends ZA and Mega Dimension (alright)
Ninja Gaiden 4 (pretty good)
RE9 (pretty good)
Pokopia (probably GotY)
Final Formation (alright)
Gal Guardians Servants of the Dark (okay)
I'm currently like 20 hours into Monster Hunter Stories 3. Amazing game.

Is there any real merit to playing something that is so completely braindead that you can play it for 8 hours straight with no fatigue? I really don't see what the difference is.

I don't know if we're counting replays, so I just put games I played for the first time or picked back up after previously flushing (looking at you, order of ecclesia and re5).
>re5, 6 & 9
I picked up re5 again and played re6 for the first time shortly before re9 came out and ended up having more fun with them than I did re9, granted I only played leon's campaign in re6.
>verho
king's field-like. really solid game, exploration is definitely it's strong suit, the story really fell flat for me even though there was quite a lot of dialogue for this type of game.
>nioh 3
given that nioh 2 is my favorite game of all time, I set my expectations quite high for this, and was maybe unsurprisingly a little disappointed. the open world felt like a pointless change that just cost more dev time and ate performance. I coped myself into thinking "ninja will get good 30 hours in", but I 100%d the game and I still hate ninja mode. Still a really good game, but my least favorite in the trilogy
>danganronpa
nice cozy game to lie in bed and play on my steam deck in the evening. too much walking around but I really enjoyed the retarded story.
>vampire smile
I flushed this one 4 hours in. not much enemy variety, not many combos. didn't find the art direction or story at all interesting. maybe I'll pick it up again at some point.
>onirism
yeah I fell for the viral marketing, but it's actually a really fun game, I ended up burning out before finishing it, but that was after 40 hours. have to wonder how much content this game has.
>grim fandango
I actually played this before, so I don't know why I put it on here, but yeah, kino story, kino art. puzzles can be a little obtuse, but most of them are fun.
>muramasa rebirth
my first vanillaware game and one of the reasons I bought a psvita in 2024. movement takes a while to get used to; it felt really floaty at first, but once you get going it's fantastic. great story, great combat, and the art speaks for itself.
>>
>>737061037
>order of eccelsia
I'm picking this one up again right now and enjoying it a lot more than the first time I tried it, I honestly have no idea what my problem was with it before. maybe I was just expecting to be more of dawn and portait, and was upset that it was trying something different.
>god of war 2 & GoS
not much to say, they're great games. I really loved GoW2's art direction in particular. some of those setpieces are truly incredible.
>bravely default
I got like 45 hours into this and flushed it. I just can't finish JRPGs man. no matter how much I'm enjoying the story I can only take so much turn based combat.

Not so many games, and the Hexcells games are pretty short, but it's balanced out by 160+ hours of Mewgenics. Also not pictured is 14 Minesweeper variants at over 100 hours, and still a ways to go to finish up the achievements.

what a compelling argument, I guess I hate them now
>>
>>737062017
>compelling argument
>generic art design completely in line with what was standard of the era and "incredible" setpieces which are functionally cinematic segments that don't really require any strenuous input from the player. Looking at what you're playing, and what you enjoy, it's pretty clear what your whole shtick is.

I played a lot of Monster Hunter for the first 3 months, so I didn't get into the beatable games for a while.
I like Mega Man a lot. The Mettaur game is only a demo, but it's got 4 pretty good levels.
3 is the best Battle Network. I don't think I will do the post-game, but that could change in a while.
Because of the collection, I finished a playthrough of Star Force DX, which I started a couple of years ago. It's pretty good, and I recommend it as the best way to play Star Force 1, which is already a good game.
The Collection is there because that's how I played SF 2 and 3. 2 is a game I agree with the consensus on. The music (especially the Kizuna remixes) is good, battling is fun(I don't think there's any boss or virus I hate), but the writing and world are so fucking annoying and tedious. Most quests suck, Wave Matter is a worse version of the Navi cards, and the Sky Roads only good aspect is it's theme.
Star Force 3 kicks ass though. And being able to use the cards and other functions, which I couldn't use because I'm not Japanese, makes this replay worth the price. I honestly wish the Noise cards were this game's main Navi Cust substitute. The secret satellite server is a fun system, and Noise in general is a great mechanic.
