What are some lesser known road trip games where you are actually driving (so no stuff like Death Road to Canada) ? I have been playing Endgame: Road to Salvation, very janky and ugly as fuck but I actually enjoy it a ton, the world is ending and you need to get to a safe place while demons 'n shit try to kill you.
Drive Beyond Horizons I haven't tried but I heard it's actually pretty good.
Obviously there's The Long Drive but it's absolute ass beyond the novely, empty as fuck, no end game (protip: road trips have an end) and dev is MIA anyway.

ets2 and ats, if you count deliveries-for-profit as a road trip. no world ending or demons (other than speed traps), just burgerland and truggs (or yoorop and slightly shorter, but more powerful truggs)
ats is getting regular cars soon but no idea how they'll handle
>but OP said lesser known
listen i'm assuming these types of games are lesser known outside of viral toktik videos like the guy running over bikers that was then imitated by multiple other people trying to cash in

Dunno why this game sold so much to be honest. Amount of reviews suggest it sold several hundreds of thousand copies.
The car autism is good I suppose, but what is there to do beyond that? Even games like My Summer Car have a ton of shit to do beyond tuning your car.

The Long Drive is being rewritten in Godot (currently Unity).

Unironically the one game where I felt like I was road tripping with friend(s) was dayz back when it was an arma 2 mod. What are you looking for in a road trip game? Does it need to be 100% driving or is it important that it has stops along the way where you get out to do shit before returning to the car

Yeah it needs regular stops to do something interesting or help the road trip go more smoothly. Getting better gear, car parts, fighting etc.
I'm not much of a greasemonkey so I don't really care if it's not very detailed on how the car works.

Sure, but they do the bare minimum for me. I really like to pay attention to road signs and the dashboard. When going somewhere, I'll look for a sign telling me how far it is, calculate the travel time based on my speed and the reading of my odometer, and occasionally glance at mile markers and my clock to make sure I'm keeping on pace. Love that kind of stuff and there isn't a game that comes to mind that really does it.

Sounds like My Summer Car, but I don't know how big the map is. There's also another game that was a copy of My Summer Car and I think the goal was to do races, anyone remembers the name? I think it was about tuning races.

Road trips themselves are friendslop bro. Barely anyone does it alone.

>Drive Beyond Horizons
It's fucking garbage. Literally The Long Drive with a new coat of paint, less features, less variety, worse performance, just everything about it is shit. I'm actually mad I supported the dev thinking it would get updates. I later found out it's made by like 2 teenaged shitskins who have absolutely no idea what they are doing or how to improve the game.
There's Jalopy but that games pretty jank too

I can't believe I spent over an hour in this book looking for a specific sign that isn't apparently within scope. I at least now know that I was looking for is technically not a sign, but a delineator.

I watched a couple buddies play it while waiting for shit to download and I enjoyed being able to use autistic car knowledge to identify their cars including a Tucker 48 and I just googled it and apparently it wasn't actually The Long Drive, it was another very similar looking early access open world semi post apocalyptic survival car driving/repairing game. That's a whole genre now I guess.
