Fixed camera angles are shit for gampley anon. It's like complaining we don't have rail shooters anymore. RE4 was good direction in series, in RE5 and 6 they went too far with generic shooter action slop. RE2 Remake has over shoulder too and it's great horror game.

No, TLoU exists because Uncharted and AssCreed exists.
RE4 is pure action and you can skip all story, conversations and there are no scripted events that take away control from the player, the only ones arguably is the mash the buttons running sections, those other shit games are about slow walking experiences with expedition dumps that don't let you play at your own pace.
Sony/Ubisoft is the cancer of that era that has continued to this day, Capcom is just following after the fact.
Don't blame RE4 for today's cancer.

Most OTS shooters that were influenced by RE4 only copied it's superficial aspects without understanding what actually made it great, that being the arcade design philosophy. Dead Space 1 and 2 were basically the only games that understood this. There's a very gamey quality to Dead Space behind the horror aesthetic, just like RE4. Also be real, Resident Evil was never good because of the horror, Silent Hill did it way better, it was always the game design that made the series stand out. RE1-3 were excellent puzzleboxes and RE4-6 were excellent action games, simple as. RE7-9 are lame mediocrities because no one designing them was actually passionate about any game design concepts and just made the games based on vibes.

That'd be Uncharted or TLoU
>kills horror in favor of action shooters
And that's a good thing. The series was stale at that point as the devs admitted themselves
>without res 4, last of us wouldn't exist
Asinine statement. You could just as easily say that without Pong RE4 wouldn't have existed.
In summary OP is a malding faggot /thread

yes cuz re4fags never like to admit the RE4 story was its weakest point and the gameplay at the time was new and fresh which carried the game. That's why RE4R succeded is because they improved the gameplay experience and the story was already shit so there wasn't any risk of failure there.
Though my one gripe is the modern trend of delayed input control where there's a momentary lag between pressing a movement button and your character sluggishly responding. That's by design to be more "cinematic" I guess but that loss of control is infuriating.

This is actually true. Game was great but n the action side, as horror it's where it began to stray from it.
>RE4 is the first time jump scares began to be used in "survival" "horror" games
I can't be the only one that noticed it
