Nah he's absolutely right. The people who think PC gaming is prohibitively expensive are either neets with no income or shut-ins with no other hobbies because most other interests to get into these days cost a lot more than PCs do.
>>
>>737081848
You would do well to not fall for this propoganda aimed at confirming the biases of people who think AI is a bubble. If datacentres are getting delayed it's because of supply constraints which means demand is higher than ever. There is basically no indication that AI buildup will be slowing down anytime soon, in fact the major companies supplying datacentres for AI growth have been growing rapidly the past couple weeks.

this. i spent fucking 2k upgrading my PC to a 4080 Super, 7800X3D, and an OLED monitor 2 years ago and i'm set for years and still maxing out every game

They hated him because he told the truth.
Fucking $180 for a day pass to go skiing now.
Cant travel anymore cuz even bunk beds at a hostel go for over $100 a night.
Gaming is still the ultimate poorfag hobby because a $150 refurbished laptop can play 1000s of free games with no effort.

AI is a bubble that so many people are trying to prop up despite the house of cards falling apart in slow motion.
They're not immune to supply and demand. Most "purchases" weren't actually paid for and were simply letters of intent. As soon as the stock market pulls back from AI, the house of cards will collapse.

>As soon as the stock market pulls back from AI
Well the problem is that the market is always trying to pump. The sp500 is higher than before the Iran war started, and what's the difference? Hormussy is closed, ships aren't getting through, supplies are disrupted, and oil prices are up.
Markets are irrational and haven't reflected the day to day reality of normal people for a long time now. Richfags insulated from it all hold most of the stocks, and they want it to keep pumping.

Economy crashing won't affect the people who made out like bandits.
They'll be poorer, but they've spent the last 20 years buying up everything productive so that they can continue to leech until it recovers where they'll still be royalty in all but name.
Though I'm not quite sure how they intend to carry their legacy forward when all of them are homosexual, jewish, and retarded.

As I long predicted, the usefulness of "AI" is overblown and there will be a glut in the market once these projects collapse and the realisation sets in and companies start scaling back.
The flipside to this is that Nvidia actually lives up to it's impossible promises and keeps delivering new cards that are substantially better at a faster and faster pace, meaning you are always better waiting because prices dramatically fall when the cards are no longer top of the line.

Why do leftist niggers are so short sighted? AI wont fail lmao, they just decided the technology is for them, not for you. And so massive datacenters are not needed anymore. Unless you just don’t *want* to, in which case, you’re NGMI and you have no one to blame but yourself for that. >if a couple thousand dollars every 3 or 4 years is too much for you, don't ever get into a real hobby like fishing
You don't actually have to upgrade, there are more games than you can even make time for even for 10 year old hardware and still more coming out.
Also other hobbies can be expensive only if you pickup one that requires a lot of maintenance cost, something like a sportbike is a lot of fun for 10 dollars in gas versus burning 1000+ in ammo firing guns for an hour.
>>
>>737095751
The minimum wage in a pretty good amount of states is still a whopping $7.25 and you're making $1,300/mo at most. In most places rent is not $700-800, it's averaging around $1200/mo.
Internet in most areas is $50-80, water is going to run you $40-60/mo, electric is $70-100/mo.
Do you have a minimum wage job? You're sure as shit driving there, so you'll need a car with insurance. Insurance costs is around $100-110/mo, and the car payments themselves if you aren't lucky enough to have a hand-me-down vehicle are going to run you around $50-60/mo if it's a total junker and fuel is going to run you about $60/mo (I don't have a good gauge on this since I work from home and rarely drive). Groceries are easily $300/mo now. Have a dog or a cat? $30-40/mo for food and litter. I'm sure there's a lot else I'm missing here, but you're totally delusional from never working a day in your life
Sorry that you live in the middle of the woods in Alabama, but most people do not have that 'luxery' and most people are unwilling to completely upend their lives, hop on a bus, and live in paradise where $7.25 is enough to afford high-end computers after 2 months of saving.

The main issue isn't the building of it. It's the fact that it brings nothing to the community. In prior evolutions of industrialization and technology, the matter of fact is that you would get stuff like company towns and etc. and even in the initial information age boom, you at least get high paying jobs and a building somewhere that helps out the community on an economic level. Datacenters don't bring that at all. There's arguments that "they need specialized X and Y" so no one local gets those jobs for the most part and once it is built, it's a one and done deal that contributes more negatively than positively to everyone in the community except the government of that location who certainly are not charging enough to make up for the negative externalities. The only place that AI has even been making enough of an impact anyways now is in top end white collar work which is getting hallowed out from the middle and the top is going to get eaten. The last thing that will get automated is trades where our advances in robotics has lagged behind.

Honestly, a couple thousand dollars every 3-4 years is silly expensive. A hobby should be getting by on less than that. You're more in the enthusiast ballpark at that point.
To put it in perspective, you can replace your water heater for less money than that. Ditto your water softener. You can get a new washer and drier. If you're careful where you spend, you can refit most of your kitchen. It's possible you might be able to re-roof depending on how much area you're talking about, but you wouldn't get new gutters and you're definitely stuck with shingles.
Hobby fishing is just a $100 rod and reel, some hooks, and a pack of chicken livers from the grocery store.

The prices won't decrease much, not to the pre-bubble levels. The components are already paid for, corporate sector reserved this shit for years into the future. There is no reason for manufacturers and vendors to lower the price for individual consumers anymore.

Watches, guns, cameras, cars, motorcycles, women, concerts, comedy shows, sports games, (((travelling))). Hell, even the cost of streaming services add up fast when you consider people rarely have just 1 service they pay for.
Yes, they can be done for cheap, but the vast majority do not.
PC gaming as a hobby really isn't that expensive when you aren't constantly chasing the latest hardware and paying $60+ for newly released games.

Yes really, you're a dumbfuck if you think otherwise. It's the same as baby boomers buying a house for $20k off a minimum wage job 30 years ago and now they're trying to sell you the same house today for a million dollars.

>scam investors with false promises of AI
>they cripple their own companies to embrace progress and to not pay any employees
>AI isn't even close to the level they were promised
You don't understand... the entire economy is going to collapse over this, and now regular people have seen first-hand how little employers value them. They jumped to replace all humans with AI the moment they were told it was possible and threw all their weight behind making it a reality.

People will say things like this and then tell you price fixing by the government can't work...
So the plan is to just let old people squat on their homes, unable to sell at inflated values, until they die and their property goes straight to the government?

The OP is implying that because some data centres are cancelling RAM orders, that surplus RAM will somehow be transformed into DDR5 and sold cheaply to people in developing countries, when in reality it will simply be redirected to other data centres.

Rent is absolutely 700-800 dollars, just don't live in swarthy niggerlands or in some major libshit hive city like New York or LA. People need to spread out more across this damn country instead of clumping up like insects in fucking designated zog-zones. Go live in a smaller town where prices are normal. Unless you're brown, then you need to stay in your designated zones.
>7.25 an hour
You're either a bot, a retard or both.

The only way house pricing is going to fall is if supply increases vastly, but most western governments have a policy of increasing the population at a greater rate than infrastructure can be built to handle them thanks to various lobbying interests and the fact their own property investments would be imperiled if they did.
>>
>>737109632
>"go live in a small town!"
>no jobs locally because of previous economic decisions to kill manufacturing that kept those towns populated
>companies scrambling to kill remote work to justify the lease of office space
>can't commute because of present economic decisions to fuck around with countries that control oil supply and occupy shipping routes
Sage advice anon, you should run for office, you'll fit right in with all the other boomers burying their heads in the sand acting like the problem isn't one of their own making.
>>
>>
>>737111374
I say that because small towns are worse if you're trying to get your life started. A city is a sheer cliff face, it's at least theoretically scalable, you have no chance of getting anywhere in a small town, that's why the properties are so cheap. These are places the elderly go for retirement AFTER a life of getting somewhere.

Companies are going to go bankrupt. Financial institutions who bankrolled these dreamer projects are going to be fucked and the governments are going to bail them out else everybody loses their pensions. It will be paid for by cuts to public funding which means a weaker police force, worse roads, worse health care, worse infrastructure, and higher taxes. Nobody will have to pay for their own losses because they never took a risk to begin with. The tax payer foots the bill, always.
>>
>>737111715
You're not gonna actually scale that wall though, the boomers and kikes removed all the means of doing so. The point was that some retard was making fake claims that reasonable rent doesn't exist ANYWHERE basically, and I called him a fucking retard. I wasn't saying shit about financial mobility, you ain't getting up that ladder without nepo-connections at all anymore.

>People need to spread out more across this damn country instead of clumping up like insects in fucking designated zog-zones. Go live in a smaller town where prices are normal.
This dream died when kikes killed work from home. You WILL live in driving distance of the office to attend your daily humiliation ritual in person

Thats what happens when you let people that haven't developed their social skills since elementary skill have major influence over site culture. Anyone who isn't as half retarded as they are would find something better to do if they realized arguing with a random stranger online for hours to try to get the last reply on a site where everything is forgotten after 15 minutes
>>
>>737111805
My point is that considering mobility and work options in small towns, the lower rent might as well be as unaffordable as an urban hellscape anyway unless you've already got capital or are on NEETbux, or are one of the very few that are being allowed to continue remote work. It's dead ends all around no matter how you look at it.
>you ain't getting up that ladder without nepo-connections at all anymore
Agreed on that
>>
>>
>>
>>737112074
The goal is just to SUSTAIN having 'just enough' at this point, which is possible in small towns on menial wage work. Which was my point. Everything is burning and shit's gonna fucking EXPLODE. Best to be away from where the major impacts will be.

I really fucking hate how upgrading my PC is like buying stocks on the stock market now where I have to wait for the prices to crash due to some stupid reason and theres a chance I could upgrade and then a month later the GPU I bought gets several hundred dollars cheaper out of nowhere.

What data centers? The construction projects are all defaulting. When price crashes hit they'll invent stuff to get rid of bad sand. That shit must go at whatever price they can get. Mini PCs with ECC memory? Done. Get it out.

ram prices won't go down
the profits from datacenter sales were already calculated into their 2026 revenue, so if anything consumer ram prices are going to rise even higher to compensate for the loss in business sales

>The construction projects are all defaulting
No they aren't. The demand for memory is slowing down construction on new data centres which means things are being placed on hold until memory is available, or projects are being rescheduled for a later date.
No construction projects are cancelled. The headline is being dramatic.
You still won't be able to upgrade your toaster in 2026/2027. lol

Once they get delayed their odds of defaulting go up dramatically. A lot of companies will need to raise capital and fail to get it because they're not hitting their construction goals and demand for services isn't there.

Those GPUs were normal consumer grade models...
Data center GPUs are $30,000+ 140gb VRAM HBM3 stack cards with no support for anything but enterprise software. There is NO resell market for these. You will not be buying one. They dont run games, they run Ai models.

By now it's just safer to put your stocks into food and EV industries, if nothing strange happens, it's guaranteed to make some return by 2030 or 2035.
It's mindboggingly stupid to invest in a hype cycle unless you get on board at the very beginning.

america is cool with having open pedo's running it and sending its people to die for brown people on the other side of the planet so if you're hoping they'll actually enforce consumer law you're smoking crack

This. I wish I still had parents. Well, my dad is supposedly alive, but he's a piece of shit abusive alcoholic who served time TWICE for that crime and that didn't teach him a thing. Once my mother died due to cancer, when I was around 23, I moved out a week after he came back to our home and never looked back, although I had it really fucking hard all this time, including being really homeless for 6 months.
Evil people tend to live long lives, so I trust the Devil will keep him around for at least the next 30 years before I can move back to my OWN house, to which I have legal rights already (after my mother's death). I've already created a new life for myself in a large enough city which is far enough so that he doesn't have any pals here that he could use to obtain information about my whereabouts etc. He is really THAT much of a control freak.
