You don't play enough PC games day 1 then. Elden Ring had the microstutters on PC at launch and DD2 didn't allow some people to advance past the opening on PC because it kept closing out on them. Shit, I'm playing older games on PC and still sometimes have them error out and close on me because I'm playing some pre 2020's Japanese game and the nips can't code. When you have to start updating drivers and reverting them to get a game working, that's when you were better off grabbing the game on a console and it still happens to this day.

PC is always overstated. Many are filtered by the prices that until recently were a lot higher than similar consoles. Stuff like Minecraft only took off due to a mobile edition. The Japanese market is maybe 10-15 million casual players and maybe 1 million hardcore ones.
You can see this in the data most casual as fuck Games like Mario Kart 8 Deluxe after 9 years of existing have sold about 6 million physical copies and double that for digital.
So 12 million total.
Animal Crossing did 8 million physical so double that so 16 million total and thats the absolute peak here.

And more nice series like Octopath Traveler sell about 100k-200k copies at release with say a total of 500k sold by a few years in.
So no the Japanese market isn't big by any imagination it's about as big as UK market or German market.

Most people are too old to play games and not connected to gaming at al.

It is sort of funny how the free updates tend to have much better and more interesting content than the dlc simply because the dlc tends to focus on nonsense. I'm really displeased that the first dlc and major free update for EU5 is focusing on Byzantium, although some of the features like letting ideology spread will be nice.
