It wore off almost immediately for me. The game has less dialogue, events and minigames than the 3DS version among several other downgrades and cuts. It's also just far less charming. It really feels like they were banking on you wanting to customize stuff and spending the majority of your time doing that than actually engaging with the core content of the game which is just watch Miis do funny shit. I only have 8 hours on the game and I've already seen the same stuff play out exactly the same way so many times with the only difference is the word I typed in when it asked what the Miis should talk about. Nothing in the game happens without you initiating it, and 99% of the time it's a positive outcome, which is the exact opposite of why the original was good. The original game was like watching a TV show, stuff just happened and it was funny and sometimes captivating, it was like a 50/50 chance if your miis liked or hated eachother and there was always some sort of cutscene or interaction to watch and listen in on. This new game is just make a Mii, drag and drop the Mii next to someone else, they become friends and have the same exact conversation every single time, the end. Very rarely something slightly interesting will happen. You also don't get to listen to very many of their conversations, they mostly just talk gibberish and sit there playing a generic canned animation. Absolutely unreal how little there is to be entertained by in a game like this that's sole purpose is to just watch and listen to Miis talk to eachother.

I'm really enjoying having an actual progression system this time around. I'd say I'm about ten hours in and am still seeing new things/items pop up, which was not the case in the 3DS game. Once you unlocked all the facilities, you'd basically seen everything.

That all being said I do hope this game gets some updates to add back the concert hall, rating boards, and some extra minigames. Those all feel like relatively simple additions that go a long way.

I also wish there was some way of seeing how all of your residents connect in some big web, somewhat similar to Xenoblade's affinity charts.

I have issues with the game, but there's nothing I can outright hate. Sure, there's some missing features I'd like to see return, but there also plenty from >>737123761 that have been expanded into new ones (such as interactive items being expanded into every treasure, island item, etc. being usable by miis).

So far the positives are outweighing the negatives, and I'm having quite a good time building out neighborhoods for my island. I think they struck a good balance between control and the "ant farm" feel of the original games, which was a concern of mine going in.

I don't think there's any doubt this will get updates later down the line. If Switch sports can get em, I see no reason why this wouldn't.

there's two folders named '0' and '1' in the emulator. '0' is supposed to be the active directory and '1' is supposed to be the backup save directory. Backup the whole save directory. For some reason, the emulator won't save to '0' properly after a texture change so save the game. Close the emulator. Delete the '0' folder. (the changes should now be in folder 1). The issue I think is the becoming friends dialogue is the exact same but for the words you plug in. After that is the missing content which is made up for by the user generated content but if you're not generating much content then you'll feel the missing stuff
