I love it!

You should always download the NTSC version of roms, because European consoles ran at 50hz instead of 60, and most game studios were too lazy to alter the game to compensate so most PAL versions just run in slow motion compared to their US and Japanese counterparts

Yeah, I only got autistic about it once I learned it exists and I want to experience all the functionality retroarch has to offer.
>>737114753
You are right but playing the games in the language you played them in as a kid is more soulful.
>>
>>737114610
i treat retroachievements as the Steam for retro stuff, i like tracking the games i play and participate in their events. its cool
if ur not intrested in this or 100% the games you play, then its kinda pointless i guess

it's good as long as the achievement set that you're playing wasn't made by a fun hating sperg
The entire website, however is proven irreversibly compromised by the puritan crybully rainbow autistic lefty crowd, as evidence by Scott kneeling to xkeeper's seething over Pokemon Clover, while failing to protect his staff from doxxing

>admins
There's only one retarded admin that does 99.9% the the whole work and he's actively ruining the website. Recently, he limited total badges shown on your profile to 800 (unlimited before). Claims it's to save server performance and only 50-60 users should be affected by this, while crying about any criticism on discord with his AI copy pasted messages. Fucking over your power users is not the way to do things.

But PAL is also 576p instead of 480p so some games are sharper at native res, and also if you emulate PS2 games on some weaker hardware you sometimes get cleaner results with PAL because the 17% performance difference makes it easier to reach full speed.
Moot if you're just on PCSX2 or Deck I guess. I know this isn't compatible with RetroAchievements but i'm playing PS2 games on my PS3 lately and the PAL versions are often able to reach full speed when NTSC is not.

I wonder why some games only the US or Europe version is support while others both are, my guess it has something to do with the console itself, for example Skies of Arcadia there is only cheevos for europe but most of SNES and GBA games I checked supports both, so maybe the more recent the console is the higher the difference between regions, or maybe its more of a nintendo thing since they were always annoying with region lock in their consoles

yeah but I thought supporting the same game for different regions in the game hash probably varies on difficulty by console, if it was just something as simple as adding a check it wouldnt matter what version the guy think is the best

For PS2 and below, you almost always want NTSC. But if you're achievementfagging, you should really check which version is supported on the site.
Shout out to the retard that made the Mario Party 8 set for the Wii rollout - they chose the PAL version for the extra supported languages, but didn't notice this game doesn't support PAL60 in Dolphin so it runs 17% slower than the NTSC version and they haven't allowed the 60fps AR code yet, kek.

Fucking hate it. It turns anyone who uses it into an autistic motherfucker who can't help but bring it up every time people start talking about retro video games. Nigger, no one cares that you got every fake achievement in Ice Climber. Stop bringing that shit up uninvited.

I rarely 100% games. A lot of sets are dog shit with retardedly hard shit that should be relegated to a challenge subset
>>737121564
A lot of autism for sure. I think achievement hunting is acceptable so long as you aren't basing decisions on it. I.e, I had a friend in high school that would look up achievements before hand and only bought games with easy to 100% sets. Lots of shovelware and baby games

As anon mentioned, PAL games are sometimes preferred because they support more languages. This is generally fine for handhelds and in some cases is superior, like Luigi's Mansion's PAL version has a 60fps patch and has an entire new mode that's missing from the Jap and NA releases. Why this wasn't taken into account for Mario Party, probably retardation

If you want to go further, the peak online users is around 6,000(was around 800 when I started) and unlike something like steamcharts there's no offline players that could shift the number.
That 6,000 number is literally every active player. If it was a multiplayer steam game it could be easily be considered "dead".
I like it but I'm still shocked there's enough people on /v/ to get a thread going. Maybe it's the drama that happens on occasion.

My friend group in high school had a copy of King Kong for the 360 that we passed around like the town bicycle. Good times.
Glad Microsoft just decided to break the economy one day or I might still be on that grind. It feels like Sony never did and created monsters. They are quite good at making game guides though and there would probably be no incentive without platinums.

Sony fucked up when they changed how the levels worked. I had a decent amount of trophies and was level 10 or 12. I instantly new who was an autist like me and now the numbers are so inflated, they're meaningless

>Played my games that for some reason didn't work with Retro Achievements.
>Find out you need very specific Roms
>If your rom isn't the right version you can't get achievements
Yeah, nah I gave up this. Not about to play Easter egg hunt with roms on the Internet to get things working.

A lot of people on their just look for the shittiest, sloppiest shovelware with quick, easy achievements. Rather than a supplement to your games, to these faggots retro achievements IS the game. Seems like it defeats the fun of the site to me, but if you're the type of person to play through Elmo followed by Thomas the Tank Engine for internet points-or hell, for any reason, you're not someone who's playing with a full deck.
Kind of destroys the whole point of the leaderboards too.

My opinion is that it's kino and anyone who has a problem with it is retarded for not simply avoiding things they don't like.
NTSC vs PAL is a game by game case. PAL is better for language support and there's no downside if it isn't slower.
You can check on each game page to see which files are supported, sometimes it's both.
I'm at 22 points for the Wii event i think but i haven't been playing for a couple days because i'm busy with other shit.
