They have probably gone through the first wave of testing by now. Don't know how their process works but I'd expect they only start testing the jap version once the English one is 100% done so it doesn't really matter whether the localization is done now or next month.
It took them roughly four months to playtest ch3 and 4 last time, so 5 SHOULD take about two months. I'd say that late June/early July would be reasonable, but this is Toby, you never know with him. He might end up sitting on a fully complete chapter just so he can show it off on a Nintendo Direct or some other dumb shit.

Can't tell you how many bugs could possibly be in this single chapter, but they should be 1/3rd done with bug fixes by the end of this month. As for translation, they're probably on their 3rd or 4th draft right now, but I'd say they're one draft away from making the final one so that can be tested next month for bugs.

Well, it's more than just 8 hours. They also have to test the game on Switch 1, Switch 2, PS4, and PS5 to find any console-related issues. Plus, due to consoles receiving patches later than PC, they have to do extensive testing to ensure all FIVE versions are in sync and mostly bug-free at launch.

Mid-July to mid-August is my most reasonable timeframe for Chapter 5's release. Mid-September (Undertale's 11th Anniversary) is my backup timeframe if that gets missed, and Halloween (Deltarune Chapter 1's 8th Anniversary) is the farthest I can tolerate it before I start getting mad.

Toby's done a lot of work leading up to Chapters 3 & 4 to remove future roadblocks and mitigate risks so that the rest of the chapters can come out smoothly (hiring the producer, testing a new Gamemaker feature made specifically for Deltarune, and getting Switch 2 and PS5 ports out of the way). Whether all of that pays off depends on if Chapter 5 gets released in a timely manner. I'm mostly sure that it will come out before September, but who knows what could really happen? I just hope we get an actual newsletter soon, because this radio silence is killing me.

You know, one thing that I think is important in to keep in mind when it comes to the playtesting phase is that it's not only bugs that they are looking for, but also game balance, it might be that there are some things that playtesters find too easy or too hard and the team might decide to rebalance it, which can take some time to get right, this is why the playtesting period might last longer than you'd think.
