They were definitely lacing their office water with meth.

Indies release garbage like this all the time and none of you buy or post about it. Large corps don't need to go back to making shitty looking games, and shouldn't when you haven't proven it's what you actually want.

And Falcom basically does the the same exact thing as this but somehow nobody cares.
Hmm.. I call bullshit on >>737119315

It boggles the mind just how far we've fallen in a mere 25 years.

>dat feel when Summer of Adventure of 2000
People legitimately don't remember there was a period when Squaresoft could not miss.

big problem with final fantasy is they basically take entire console generation to release now. kids go through childhood and get maybe two main entries. remember when 7, 8 and 9 came out year after year?

I wonder for how many people Erhgeiz was an introduction to dungeon crawling since that ended up being the real star of the game.

>back when game dev studios wanted money, they used to release absolute tons of GAMES
>now when dev studios want money, they release 1 game for 10+ years and fill it to the brim with garbage, microtransactions, and other bullshit

As I've said elsewhere, publishing PS1 games were cheaper than alternatives and so companies (like Square) could invest a lot less in development and still put a game out for profit. This resulted in a lot of experimental games, which gave us a lot of good (if limited) stuff on the system. Just look at Chocobo Racing and Chocobo Dungeon. They were obviously makes for cheap and far smaller than what they were ripping off, but were pretty fun and I'm pretty sure could be picked up for $20 on launch.
To be fair, Square does the same thing with Steam now. Stuff like Paranormasight, Various Daylife, Voice of Cards, Dungeon Encounters, and The Quiet Man were clearly made at a smaller budget and are selling for around $20 as a result, and since they don't need to buy a Blu-ray printing or a physical cartridge, then can put those games out for a lot less than the $60-$90 standard new release price.
