Why are you saying that i need a new unoptimized tech to do what the other one already did 5 years ago?
Oh right, i need to just buy new GPU's, that's why.

Post path tracing you filthy liar
>>
I still don't give a shit about gaytracing. Its still such a nothing graphical feature all these years later, no game uses it in any meaningful way and nothing kills your performance as hard as gaytracing.

Graphics stagnated hard after 2016.

"hey bro, would you like your game to run at 120fps or make the windows actually refect stuff at a buttery smooth 17 fps but we'll throw in a bunch of fake frames and fake ai shit and tell you its 60fps*with framegen but it'll still feel like you're playing at 17 fps, because you are.

That's the whole point retard, raytracing used to do what they're putting now on the "new" path tracing to sell new cards.
>>

After 2016 they've just coming up with new ways to sell new GPU's because they knew the plateau was hitted.
>>
I just don't get it. Now you need path tracing for something ray tracing was supposed to do in 2018

Meanwhile on a 20yo console.

none of that shit justifies spending an extra 1k on a graphics card.

This has nothing to do with Ray-Tracing and everything to do with RE Engine lighting being shit. Path Tracing looks much better because it was Nvidia and not Capcom who ported it to the engine, if it was Nvidia (or literally anyone else but the Capcom boomers) who ported it the RE:E ray tracing would look much better

Because faggots buy it.

The point of ray tracing is not to necessarily that it looks any different. The real value is flexibility. Traditional lighting imposes significant restrictions on design freedom.

That's literally what i said, they're forcing people into buying the shitty "new" tech when raytracing was already doing great.
>>

This is true, and the problem is that devs are using it as a "one size fits all", not all games needs RT but they're forced one it anyway.
>>

I disagree, traditional lighting is so profoundly restricting and people have basically all developed Stockholm syndrome.

Its kind of like, if we lived in a world where hands were cut off at birth, but society was built around it, and someone then says, most people don't need the advanced prosthetic, those are only for special uses, stumps are fine for most people.

You're coming from a stand that baked lighting was something all done as tech limitation and not as a artistic vision, a lot of old games has "impossible" or blown out lighting that even though i didn't make sense they serve a purpose.

Realistic lighting ≠ Better.

Just like that image.

The nintendo 64 games look better than this shit.
This new shit isnt video games, it's pornography.
Smut for the sake of smut.

Dev skill issue. They were too busy being pedos.

It isn't something you just turn on. Devs have to implement it properly.
