If Super Ultra Mega Pong were released today with a bunch of new features and graphics, it would be stupid to say "old good, new bad" because none of you play Pong. Yes, Pong was revolutionary at the time, but now it's just a boring ass game nobody plays. Even 40 years ago devs were innovating on the Pong gameplay muchanics with Breakout.

D2's key problem is that you're almost certainly not going to get the gear you need to keep going just by playing the game normally unless you're like one of five builds. That's a complete break from D1. Synergies did not help.
