Neh. It's Pokémon/Shin Megami Tensei meets Devil May Cry. The gameplay is simple and repetitive, but still fun. I enjoyed going through the levels with both characters because I got to discover more of the story from a different perspective. The Persona 4/visual novel parts, art style, graphics, music, atmosphere, characters, setting, and story all easily elevate the game to 7/10 for me. The best thing about Folklore is how unique and one of a kind the game is overall. You don't have many 3d action RPG collectathon mystery games set in countryside Ireland

Could've been great if the beat 'em up sections were the main gameplay with full levels and more mechanically complex combat system. Still, probably one of the best Shounens ever written by the pure fact that they just focus fully on the creative nonstop action without the constant overly long expository monologues. The plot is popcorn-tier, but it's a Shounen after so who cares. Anyway. Olga is really hot. I got it cheap as a bundle deal with my PS4 Pro and really enjoyed it. The atmosphere/world building is surprisingly good. Lots of fun little details for a GTA clone like the extensive outfit options and the online hide and seek mini game. The story is pretty average maybe slightly above average but the characters and missions are stock standard. Still a beautiful world to explore and get lost in for 50+ hours

1) It's not that repetitive unless you are trying to 100% it and even then it's only the late game quests that get particularly bad
2) You must have shit taste if you think the writing is the bad part of the game genuinely. It's literally the best part of the game and the whole reason the games get shilled so much.
3) Yeah they actually did. It's not a total downgrade, but a lot of the music just doesn't hit as hard. Thankfully there's mods for that.

Awesome thread idea, how this one stays alive

Pic related; I played it once when it came out and I keep remembering it. Just this simple little story, takes like 3-4 hours to beat, one nice evening, like watching a movie. Since it's so short the story pacing is actually really good, and the gameplay is perfectly fine. Wish there was more like this besides hipster indie games

Honorable mention, Returnal. One of the few games that just outright hands me my ass not because of bullshit like bad camera angles, unresponsive controls, etc. no, it's just hard as hell and it never gets easier the more I play it.
