My problem is that I have multiple FPGA solutions that can do NEO GEO, and I don't want to buy a fucking Neo Geo flash cart because they are expensive as shit. I'm damn sure not starting a real Neo Geo collection.

seems to be some sort of fpga style emulation with snk being involved, though i don't know much
but they're 100% compatible with og carts and controllers, and the new stuff being backwards compatible too
looks as close to the real deal as it gets

they claim it's not emulation or fpga, but we'll see. they also say original games and controllers will work on it, plus it has analog video out. if it were just another emu box no one would give a shit

They say on the page that it's not.

If we go by what they said, they make the old hardware with curent day´s components, this comes from GAME website
It uses redesigned ASIC chips to ensure accurate game reproduction, eliminating any delays or errors common in current emulation systems.

yeah but isn't that kinda moot? i mean, if you have the exact specs of a specific circuit, programming in into a fpga or setting it into stone with a microchip should yield the same results

Yes, thats what he said he was buying, not that the default price if you wanted to buy one is that.

Black is better, like the original, too bad the prices of the cartridges are spensive as fuck.

Oof. I didn't even know what Neo Geo was as a kid aside from playing Metal Slug at my local game store. I don't think I can justify buying even the base one. Still pretty cool. I have one of the 8bitdo Neo Geo CD controllers with micro switches in the d pad. I'll stick to that and emulation I think

I'm tempted, but I just know there's going to be something wrong with it.
They fucked up the Neo Geo X Gold. The Neo Geo Mini was shit. Third time isn't the charm, bad things come in threes.
I just hope someone is able to dump a ROM of the new version of Neo Turf Masters that comes with it.

What the actual fuck, no wonder people are excited this is ridiculous.

It depends, sometimes they do have access to the original hardware and they work from there. People do overstate the accuracy of FPGAs though, because you can have a working core without the original hardware. In a bluesky view of it, the core developer should have access to the original hardware to recreate it as an FGPA core. That's often not the case though.

It only works if you are a nostalgiafag. 99% of the people wouldn´t even notice if they were running a game on an emulator or a native device. And wouldnt even buy a game of those by those prices (just checked metal slug and its 80€)
>B-but the delay
Oh no, the stuff will happen a frame (at best) later, the fucking horror!!

SNK is pretty much the collectors company, a lot of the praise you see for them is just hyped up fomo, and as a result there's a slew of disinformation going around. That's why you gotta slap the shit out of people and gatekeep. SNK is pretty much utterly ruined with how much they've been allowed to get away with.

I'm interested but I don't think I'm pre-order interested.
Maybe if it included an arcade machine shell as an option. I don't really have any nostalgia for the neo geo console itself. Just playing metal slug at the restaurant my grandparents took me to when I was a kid.

it's hard to find actual sales of those two games. too lazy to check yahoo jp auctions, but ebay shows some of the later metal slugs selling for a few grand each and ms1 repros going for $200-$500. I think original retail for the games was $200-300. obviously you can play all these for free but if you absolutely need a cart the re-releases are a good price
