Some of you may not want to face it, but tab target still has a lot of life. WoW has some of the best PvP in the industry.

Now it just needs economy and worldbuilding. I'm tired of pretending that BOP and BOE are anything less than linear treadmill gameplay that's only relevant because there are new players, and where's the fighting over resources and zones?

MMOs seem as if they have a long way to go. It wouldn't even be hard to make a game that people can play all day, every day, but everything either detracts from or adds to quality. Stop it with leveling, bind-on, and gold repairs for equipment. Historically, like 15% of characters make to level 25 in WoW.

This is a big one. People don't want to be in a tutorial for dozens to hundreds of hours, not to mention massively segregated from players and actively obsoleting 90% of the world.

based. tab target action bar combat is hugely underrated and unfairly derided. even for PVE it's good, when you lock into a well flowing rotation it feels amazing. and it's one of the best ways to simulate having a large toolkit of spells and abilities. I wish it wasn't basically just confined to MMOs, it would be a great system for a single player RPG too.

I wish somebody would make a combo + combo rating system like DFO.

I dont have an issue with tab targeting, nor do i have an issue with action combat, as long as they are executing properly.
I think Tab targeting is only bad really in PVP.

Eh, as i just said, I have largely grown apathetic to MMO PVP.
Was most fun for me when GW2 first came out, but also grew stale quickly.

So funny that the widespread use of the internet is actually what killed the old school MMO.

i tried playing this with a bunch of 6 friends and they all flaked out after the ice island with all the cancerous mechanics like "lmao you gotta make mobs collide into eachother or you do 2 damage" "lmao fucking skeletons won't fucking stay dead and just block this square for fucking ages". not even halfway to level cap btw.
it turned out the game is impossible to play when you're down 3 people so the rest of us just quit too
how the fuck is this the "best mmo" when people can't even stomach getting to level cap? fuck off dude

unfortunately i have no idea what that entails since we all just joined the faction with the most territories for the wisdom/prospecting bonuses and never interacted with that system again. the mayor was a third worlder posting announcements in his third world language anyway so none of us gave a shit

used to be able to outlaw shit like trading with other factions or hunting specific mobs to prevent extinction or enforcing a limitation of woodcutting to prevent permanent deforestation, but a guy outlawed virtually everything possible in his faction to prevent people from doing anything

back in the day sure, but it's kind of bland and lame without the soul that made the early days of the game meaningful, the death of game forums and in-game socialization is what killed the MMO genre so all we get are shitty WoW-likes/"killers" or unbearably samey korean shit

The leveling experience is great, there are very few games with similar scope of world, diversity and quality of environments, and worldbuilding. Classes are unique and have meaningful progression. There's tons of shit to do, different paths to choose, and secrets to find. There are definitely some annoying filler quests, frustrating drop rates, and level ranges with not enough questing content, it's not perfect by any means, but for the most part it's pretty damn good.
The problem is a combination of people viewing endgame as the real content and therefore see leveling as something to be optimized which detracts from what is best experienced as something slow and immersive. And also the fact that people have done it so many times that it's just gotten stale. I love vanilla leveling, but it can burn you out, it's something I can only do once every few years. But there are people who have been playing it non-stop and have probably leveled upwards of 100 characters at this point, at least. At a certain point it wears thin.
