Because it´s a mid open world game that wastes it´s setting, characters and combat mechanics on a shit tier world design that´s basically a giant dumpster and shit boring as fuck mandatory quests?

Seriously what use is playing as this badass ex soldier guy with PTSD when 75% of the game is just grinding through generic areas doing random shit for forgettable filler tier NPCs? The player has no agency over the story, as one is just doing random stuff until the plot advances on it´s own. It lacks the momentum and urgency the original game had going for it as the story relevant moments are far apart in between shit tier filler and even the story relevant ones are unreasonably stretched to justify the price tag.

The whole thing is just uninteresting, boring and lacks any kind of identity or iconic value of it´s own. The combat system was not terrible but it´s not enough to invest 70+ hours on a game.

As the human race evolves to handle mental illness and trauma more effeciently, Final Fantasy will become nothing more than a stepping stone that demonstrated hardcore tabletop RPG mechanics can be applied to casual video game design.

They didn't do enough to keep the franchise breathing, so they are still primarily marketing to the original fans. There is some hope for the series though. I expect that the Remake trilogy will be a big deal when the final game launches, there will be the biggest marketing push yet and a new audience will be presented with a finished product. They also have an opportunity in the third to completely defuse a lot of the narrative complaints.

Kingdom Hearts on the other hand... That's a series with no future. Same deal but new titles are gatekept by being late sequels and specifically appealing to millennial nostalgia.
I wouldn't be surprised if KH4 is cancelled. The series couldn't even be rebooted because kids aren't consooming a wide variety of disneyslop now

The lack of quality control is why Kingdom Hearts is shaving away chunks of fans. And you can tell Nomura himself does not care about Kingdom Hearts. The man literally needs to watch fan youtube vids explaining the lore of the story because he himself forgets what he already constructed for it. If you need to do this it means you never truly cared in the first place. And the worst of it is Nomura went through fan vids and still churned out trash like Kingdom Hearts 3. So Nomura does not care and is a hack to boot.

Kingdom Hearts is too tarnished to ever be fixed and has been mismanaged for decades. There is no cure for this brand.
