Where do you even go to talk about vidya shit or even just be around people with similar vidya interests irl? Only 3 things come to mind; game stores, conventions, and fighting game meetups. But game stores are notorious for housing the kinda guy who doesn't wipe his ass so he wins more MTG games, conventions aren't often specifically about vidya so it's almost always going to be a ton of people there just for their weebshit or random fandom thing (not necessarily bad but not what I'm looking for), and I just don't into fighting games so I cant see those offering me much, and feel like I'd get weird looks if I showed up and said I was only there to meet people and didn't care about the actual games being played. Is there anything else? Are fighting game meetups relatively cool with people showing up just for random vidya talk?

Are you all really so allergic to socializing that there isn't a single person who can answer my questions and my thread is just going to be people talking about which robot they'd fuck? I was frequently distracted during both System Shock games because SHODAN's voice is so hot but cmon.

I don't know how to answer your question because the only people I talk to about vidya IRL are peopel I've already known for the better part of a decade. I have nobody I've met in the last 5 years minimum who I can speak to about vidya, probably further back still.
I wish you the best of luck in your endeavors.

Fuckin zoomers man... robo-fucker talk aside
I'm lucky enough that in my city there's both a "geek" store (all comic/manga/tabletop/merch) and a game store that are less than 100m away from each other, usually it's the same people and it's a nice mix between normalfags and sweatlords, they even do events together and I've made a couple friends there, but in your case OP, either go to those meetups or try and meet new people and pray that they care about vidya.

Pick a second hobby, one that gets you outside.
Usually people will ask "what other hobbies do you have" and that's a good chance to mention vidya.
Cons, competitions, and concerts are never good, since they're one-time events that attract people to bring their friends. Clubs and communities are much better, since the same people go repeatedly and you don't need a big personality to be a regular. You don't even have to like it that much, an excuse of "I just want to get outside more lol" is perfectly acceptable.
I joined my city's riichi mahjong club, which is already weeb-adjacent, and started meeting people who share my other interests. I've also met people doing /out/ shit and film festivals, with varying success.
Everywhere will have annoying/retarded/ugly/smelly people and your only goal is to be the least annoying/retarded/ugly/smelly one in the room. Good luck.

I tried similar stuff, obviously DnD and card games have a lot of cross over and are more consistent, but the options here are incredibly small and if you don't like the people you meet after the first few times, you probably aren't going to meet anyone new if you keep going. I tried doing concerts, but yeah, one off events aren't great for that. I think the only 'hobby' stuff around here that'd get any mileage is 4A Farmer's Market type shit, or renn fair stuff, and neither of those appeal to me much at all. Maybe I'm just fucked.

I tried doing this by getting into a TCG (not one of the big ones), but didn't make any friends. To be fair I'm an autist who barely spoke outside the game and even during the game I had trouble playing because of the social dynamic. After a couple months I just stopped going even after investing a decent amount of money cause I loved the franchise (Digimon). In the end I got more peace of mind not having to worry about attending these events.
All that to say I am a retard who still doesn't quite know if I actually want to make friends or am I more comfortable without them.

Yeah you have to be able to keep conversation in the first place. I sucked at it in high school and uni and eventually something clicked and I stopped caring. Wish I could give advice for that, just gotta learn by failing I guess.
It's strange how much humanity needs to be social, but everyone's picky about it.

/v/ is a board that consists predominantly of single 40 year old porn-addicted millenials that haven’t mentally matured past highschool and don’t have a basis for what real relationships look like. Asking /v/irgins where they meet up to find gamer friends is the equivalent of asking homeless people which crypto currency they invest in; looking for water in a desert type of situation you stumbled into. You’re better off asking this question on any of the other video game boards instead of this one.

I'm the first anon and I don't really have problems conversating. It's just rare that I meet people who have my tastes when I go to places. Like, for DnD, the parties I met in person were a lot of the 'tiefling bard roll to seduce the dragon' types, and I prefer people take it at least a bit more seriously and don't make blorbo characters. I went to a vidya club in college and absolutely no one had much if any overlap with me, the closest was one guy who played almost exclusively touhou. Otherwise it was all just "I like nintendo and last of us". Not gonna act like they're inferior to me for that, but the disconnect couldn't be more clear. When I talked about what I liked it was empty stares.

Guess I'll have to do that then. From the other boards I use there's usually a solid chunk of people amidst the social recluses, racists, ragebaiters, etc. but given the low turnout this is probably the best answer I'll get here.

Man, I wasn't expecting much from that show but I was at least hoping for more than what I got. TADC isn't exactly a masterclass of good writing but it is at least coherent from a narrative standpoint, so I guess someone on the writing staff has been trying to improve.

I'm sorry, I can't relate, I've been working in the vidya industry since I finished university so I've never had that problem. My best advice would be to learn CS or nip or something.
