That is a fucking scanned drawing by Tetsuya Nomura. It's not "le pixel art".

The difference is marginal.
Like going from 98 to 99. Yeah, it's technically better, but it's not going to make things like pic related.
A good game will look good regardless if it's played on a crt or a flat screen.
So don't sweat my friends, don't feel bad over shaders and stuff. But don't do the blurr shit to soften the pixels, now THAT is shit.

I just finished gaming some Ninja Gaiden Black 2 on my 4K Oled at 120hz on my 5090 rig.
A few hours ago I was playing Crazy Taxi 2 at 570i on my Pal CRT on my Dreamcast.
Use the most appropiate display for the game.
If I were an esports player I would probably use some small ultra high hz monitor for example.
Imagine playing a modern game on an old low resolution display.
Or playing an old game on a new high resolution display.
It's idiotic, those games weren't made for such displays.

Why are you lying? This is not an unheard of issue, it's exceedingly common. Just look up "crt whine".

32 here, agree with everything but the noise. I might have blocked it out unleess you're talking about those non connected channels with like the green yellow pink cyan etc blocks across it. CRTs are massively overrated and serve little to no purpose in modern day.

I've never missed old hardware, save for sometimes ergonomics and in general everything these days being made of chinesium. Nostalgiafaggots trying to convince me I'm a teenager for hating having to fight the sunlight on old gameboys without lit screens can eat my asshole.

Even modern games are designed at a native resolution of 480p with CRT effects necessary to preserve the intent, and you're distorting the game by running higher.

Logic says don't play emulated games at native and play PC ports when they're appropriate.

experiencing CRT motion at HD res with a modern game would change your mind. resolution is not just spatial, but also temporal when half of your rendered pixels are smeared in motion.
basically, an HD CRT might it might beat the amount of detail of your 4K screen rendered every second.

there are very high resolution PC CRTs able to do 4K(interlaced) resolution at 60hz or just above full-HD(interlaced) at 120hz. the fact that it's interlaced is kinda irrelevant because of how CRTs draw fields at such framerates.
some Wide screen TVs are 1080i

Why do none of these CRT comparisons ever equalize the brightness and contrast?
>>
>>
>>737145930
>>737146205
I might seriously try to track one down, I have the space, I appreciate being informed
I'm sure its expensive but I was looking at OLEDs anyway so maybe I'll expand my search to include bigger CRTS too. I have a smaller CRT (and a normal 1440p 27 inch IPS for general use) I like a lot and use often already but the screen space is simply too small for some modern games. Monster Hunter Wilds looks really good on it for example but you just can't see what you need to

I didn't get a flat screen until 2014 when I finally moved out of my parents house and I swear none of my crts ever looked like the shit filterfags pretend it did. you couldn't see pixels or scan lines unless you were sitting way too close to the tv, and crt computer monitors looked better than modern screens in every way except size.

Why did square create this scenes for her?
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>737148752
i had a cheap CRT TV for a while that had a visible grid mask even at 2 or 3 meter distance but the scanlines weren't visible. My trinitron had some visible vertical grid lines up close but nothing at normal range either.
PVMs have visible lines but they are not for consumer use anyway as their lines are very defined on purpose to single out picture faults...
CRT filters for scalers and emulators are supposed to behave the same way but people use intense parameters because they don't get the point of such filters to begin with, which is to make pixels patterns kinda blend without becoming outright blurry

I'm not surprised they took it out with it only being in some cut content mod to put it back in. It honestly would've been too much had they made Tifa have to sell her body to survive in the slums.

It would, but it would have made the struggle of surviving in the slums as a young woman without a family more real.
They clearly considered it until late in development since the scenes are still in the files. Probably a last minute cut.
