There should be a game where you go through the space marine recruitment process

>They literally retconned the scouts
They didn't. This was just 6 years ago.
You still go through all the scouting shit, since scouts are just space marines missing a final few geneseed implants.

>black templars
If you ask me that's the most boring recruitment process among all of them.
>kidnap a bunch of yokels
>make them kill each other
>throw them in a pit with a critter if they don't
>whoever wins gets to be a space marine

Some time-skips in a 40k game would be interesting. Gives the player a look at how things changes yet stays the same.
But I think it would be much more interesting to play as another space marine chapter than Ultra Marines or Blood Ravens. Something like Blood Angels (learn about the red thirst and Black Rage) or Dark Angels (learn about the fallen) could be fun. There are so much stuff going on with other chapters, including the many successor chapters, but it always seems like they're playing it safe and picking something that won't confuse the player too much. Which is a shame.

That one is nowhere near as disproportionate as >>737146712

But it still references the necessity of gaining on-site experience as a scout. People act like scouts got retconned when the 10th company still exists. All that's changed in that regard from then vs now is that scouts graduate to become primaris instead of firstborn.

blood angels be like
>take volunteers
>give volunteers boyscout tasks
>make remaining volunteers kill each other
>stuff the survivors into a casket to be drowned in Sanguinius's blood for a year
>shoot the ones who come out as insane vampires

Pretty sure he's saying that Calgar sitting has the worse proportions. I don't have a dog in this race but imo space marine body shapes really shouldn't be held to the limitations of human bodies because they're pretty much body horror under that skin. By that I mean that one of the things that change about them is that when you become a space marine your ribs expand and fuse together into one solid mass. That isn't even including all the space your body makes inside you to make room for all the extra organs you get like your second heart or the add-on to your brain that lets you selectively make parts of it go get some sleep.

Watchers in the Dark do not speak.
They do not even make sound.

What kind of 40K game would you like to see?
I think an open world shooter, a bit like Space Marine but more open, where you played as eldar could be cool.
Let the player pick a different aspect each mission, as his character is trying different paths. You can juggle between them but if you focus on one for 70% of the game you'll end up being locked in as an Exarch, becoming more powerful but unable to leave the path.

I've recently listen to a traitor guard story

seems like it could make for something pretty interesting

Reminds me of this great description of life as a traitor marine in the eye of terror.
https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/271640-misconceptions-about-csm/ page/4/#entry3316051
It's a long read but it does describe how, well, chaotic and restless this life is - according to how this one 40k writer sees it.
You could make a fun game about being a traitor marine, managing your people, trying to earn favor from the gods and other groups, while avoiding being back-stabbed by your people or brought down by the gods or other groups.

How hardy are ork spores?
If orks fought tyranids, lost, and then the tyranids slurped up all the biomass then moved on, would that lead to orks spawning inside a hive ship?

Yes, the suits have a waste recycling system. But also their biology is such that they don't need to excrete waste as often as regular humans so it isn't like they need to take a daily shit or constantly piss in there either.

The whole blood angels recruitment process could be an amazing game by itself, yes. This is not the norm though.
From crossing the waste, reaching the cities in the mountains to fly for days while avoiding flying predators to then start your actual recruitment process of training and fighting.
Could be some good puzzle survival exploration story driven game.

I don't think there would really be much left over nutrition in their shits given their digestive system is able to even extract what little nutrition there is from rocks. There might be some moisture to reclaim from it but that would be about it.

>>737143725
How would it be? Would it follow a single neophyte from a specific chapter or would you create your own and pick who you are with? If it’s the former then I would go with Spacewolves since their Aspirants get into the shit faster.

I know there are a few, but an Inqusitor game where you spend most of it investigating it would be cool, bonus points for a campaign where you play as a rando trying to flee said inqusition, additional points for said rando not being associated with any chaos or genestealer shit to mostly serve as a reminder of how cruel the Imperium can be
