how was what Turtlewow did a bad thing? They effectively listened to the community more than Blizzard did.

I can understand why blizzard is doing what they're doing. It's their IP, they gotta protect it. However, pursuing RICO charges on turtlewow rather than taking them under their wing shows that they're not willing to learn.

>Turtle going down
>Suddenly Warmane and Stormforge going down on the same day minutes apart, hours before turtle are to make a big announcement
So when people were posting the schizo theory that Shenna actually ran a private server mafia that controlled pretty much every server that wasn't Ascension, it wasn't actually a Schizo theory at all?

Wait they closed down turtle wow? Ahahahahahahahaha
Best news I've heard all day
>How was what Turtlewow did a bad thing?
Simple, you dimwits are too cool to be playing classic wow or retail along with everyone else. It pisses me off, it pisses everyone off. Now enjoy the sweet, sweet taste of all your progresses going down the drain.

So fucking what? The IP does not belong to the developer, it belongs to Blizzard.
If you work flipping burgers for McDonalds and decide to quit, will you expect to take their entire menu and IPs along with you?
>>
>Blizzard:
has rereleased classic wow three times over, marketing expansions as "new" content. Oh, also, unless you pay to "clone" your character, they will be forced into the newest classic expansion. Subscriptions are mandatory.
>Turtlewow
Classic experience with additional content introduced gradually and bits at a time to keep the game fresh without breaking the feel of classic. Owns a radio station. No monthly subscription required.
This jab at turtlewow is nothing more than blizzard realizing that a team of less than 150 people is doing MORE with LESS than what retail classic has, and it's making them look bad.

McDonalds isnt creative work, if I invented some burger and mcds put it in the menu and then I left and McDs took it off the menu then I'd have no issues making that burger somewhere else

If you released a product, and that product went to shit, only for someone else to make the same product (but much better) with donations, and offered to work with you to make your product better, would you work with them or refuse to learn from them?

>Blizzard:
>created the entire fucking game, has to charge a price compatible with its entire server infrastructure, player support, meeting legal guidelines of 100+ countries, and so on
>Turtlewow
>created nothing, just leeched off Blizzard's work
>bunch of slimy nerds that don't follow any regulations because they're too small for anyone to care about (until now, that is, lol)
You faggots make me defend Blizzard holy shit

If you were hired by McDonalds specifically to design a new item for their menu; and you signed a contract making it clear that you are fully aware that this item would belong to McDonalds and be copyrighted by them; and you worked with McDonalds's infrastructure, used their research facilities and supjavascript:;porting crew to develop that item; and then you left McDonalds and founded a restaurant that will compete with them using that same item you developed, you would not only be sued back to the stone ages, in many countries you would also be arrested because that is considered predatory.
If you want to create an IP and work with it the way you want, just do it on your own. Don't join a company and exploit their assets only to THEN do it with the IP you promised would belong to that company. This is not even up to debate it's just how the adult world works

They fucked up in a couple of places. Namely...
1) Selling Blizzard-made assets in their donation currency shop.
2) Openly taking potshots at Blizzard on Twitter and other social media.
3) Heavily advertising their in-development UE5 client.
Had they not done any of these things (particularly the latter 2), Blizzard may not have sued them to begin with. And even if they did, their case for copyright infringement would have been a lot weaker, disallowing them from invoking RICO laws in discovery.
And sure, Turtle is providing a better service than Blizzard. But that doesn't really matter in court. It sucks, but if their objective was to keep the project alive, they should've done a better job of keeping their heads down. And not releasing shit until it was already done and open-sourced.

The idea of having new content for Vanilla was cool but I never got interested in Turtlewow because I already played Vanilla when it was new. If they had an entirely new world using the same assets I'd probably have considered it. Vanilla+ doesn't do it for me.

Do not invoke the blizzshill. They can't even imagine playing on a server without bots. They also comfortably ignore the fact that you are able to buy gold directly from blizzard for real money for like 10 years or something now.
