>be game designer up to the mid 90s
>games only take 3 hours to complete
>design deliberate time wasters like these poorly placed, tedious platforms that you will have to try multiple times to get through without falling all the way to the bottom because otherwise your game will be exposed for the dogwater that it is
>unfair nonsense is standardized across the entire industry by overly punishing design choices such as making players loses several levels worth of progress simply for dying a few times or even worse, they have to start the entire game over again
There's a reason why this slop isn't fondly remembered, we have actual games now that are meant to be fun and not brutally engineered dogshit that's designed first and foremost to make players miserable. In the future, games before the 3D era will be looked upon as poorly designed relics that we unfortunately had to trudge our way through to get to the real era of fun.

I can see that being the opinion of the brown sub 85 IQ masses in the future, yes.

You won't see anything because you won't exist if Vishnu is good.

You fucking suck. I'm better at vidya than you, I've 100% Metal Gear Rising on Revengeance and I've beaten all of the Fromsoft games + DK Countries several times. Let me guess, those aren't actually hard and the real hard games are some obscure bullshit you're about to pull out of your ass. Btw, I've beaten Ninja Gaiden 4 too.

This is the cancer born of modern gaming. They see it as
>I already cleared this part so the game is disrespecting me for failing this jump
They don't take the blame for fucking up. Nor do they understand they need to get better at the game. They want everything to give them that sweet, sweet dopamine instantly without any struggle.

>There's a reason why this slop isn't fondly remembered
Huh? It's one of the most beloved franchises of all time.
If you want to make a bait thread about it you should claim it's overratedwhich it isinstead of claiming it isn't fondly remembered, which is obviously false.

Which is funny because actual player controls have only degraded since the HD era began. Janky, unresponsive inputs because animations need to play out, everyone moves at the speed of a geriatric grandpa. It's impossible to find it fun when they go out of their way to make the very act of controlling the character itself boring.

I've been playing vidya since the 80s and grew up with all the changes in the industry, and you know what? Those old games were about we difficult for kids as modern games are for modern kids. If I go back to those old games I used to blitz through I get my ass handed to me. You're only ever as good as the challenges you're up against. Games are more enjoyable overall nowadays for sure, but they're also just another brainrot comfy entertainment commodity that will never push you into being skilful at something.

It's so you get a feel for different jumps you'll have to make in the future you massive retard. Holy shit how bad are you to fail at something and get butthurt at it when I did it trivially at 5 years old?

I try to stay away from the "/v/ is one person" fallacy but it really seems like there's one guy who fucking hates Super Metroid specifically and he's been posting about it fucking daily, and it isn't even the usual guy everyone argues with in Metroid threads.

the reason the game's intent doesn't work on you is because your initial reaction is to flip out and post about it on /v/.
This room is 3 parts important (if you count power fantasy at the end).
>Teach player to stop being shit
>Show player memory importance
>guide player to expressive decisions next time around
but you're a zoomo fusioncel that can't understand object permanence. You have been filtered by one of the easiest action games to ever be released

You're terrible at games.
In this section, all you have to do is make your jumps from a stationery position, instead of while moving - it makes the whole thing simple and it only takes a minute to get through.
Anyone with any experience with platform games will figure this out on their first go.
You can see whoever made this webm >>737156707
does most of his jumps from a stationery position. You can tell because you don't flip/rotate in the air when you do it this way and it makes controlling where you land much more easy.
>>
You can wall jump to get through this quicker.
>making players loses several levels worth of progress simply for dying a few times or even worse, they have to start the entire game over again
That is because learning how to do something in isolation is different from doing it in one go. Similarly, you're not expected to just drop a game the moment you reach some kind of end screen - many games let you sloppily reach the end, especially as time went on, but certain players will stick to games that interested them and keep trying to get better. As a result, some things in these games only gain meaning after you become more experienced and learn how to engage with the game fully, like how it can take years for weapon sets/stage design of some Mega Man games to click, rather than appeasing you on the first go.
