Mechanics wise almost the same with minor improvements over the original, lockpick UI, blacksmithing (which is partially broken) and with the addition of crossbows and boomsticks.
Combat is at the same time dumbed down and improved, you can't master strike with any weapon anymore just swords, which makes every other weapon shit, but nerfs maces from the first game that could knock out people when you got the proper perk in two swings. They've added polearms which you carry in your inventory, mostly shit unless you train them hard.
You can't attack the legs anymore so some combos got rekt'd as a result.
Everything else is just the same, with some gay shit added on and a token black dude that does fuck all during the entire game beside appearing in one cutscene near the end.

The most interesting improvement was the graphics and the ability to lower your visor at any time, if someone ported textures and the visor change to the first game, KCD2 would be pointless outside the story, which is not bad, if you discount the entire devils faggots.
In short, pirate it. The DLCs sucks ass.

you can make your own swords, blacksmithing is relaxing
alchemy doesn't get as tiresome because you batch craft much earlier and henry level potions are quite powerful
the ui was pretty but it also seemed like a step backward, when you're looking at your inventory you can see cut off parts of other screens for some reason
you can train archery on your own by just finding a straw target and shooting at it anytime you want

Tell me then in what you described what Musa does to the story, what's his contribution. His quest leads nowhere since him dying or living has no consequence on you going out the camp with the Finger of God and the ambush, his participation in the meeting with Godwin is pointless as he amounts to absolute nothing and the decision on whether who gets the right to the cathedral doesn't involves him, he's just there to watch the whole thing. He's only contribution to the story was saving Henry in one cutscene, which could've been anyone even a random NPC and then melting away to the background as the siege started. That maid that wakes Henry up after first going to Suchol could've played his role during the siege and none would've noticed.
He's so worthless to the point that the devs had to game over you if you fail to defend him, knowing that everyone would do so. I'm not saying his addition was good, he's worthless. Hence token black person, he's just there to fill a quota.

Should've elaborated that more, I've noted it was dumbed down, can't master strike with other weapons, can't attack legs, still broken once you unlock master strike. But they improved the polearms and made them actual usable weapons, and crossbows makes archery much easier, play the game retard, it's a mixed bag, they fucked the combat in one way and improved on another.
